I also had the nueva ring. Not really too bad to insert and then you don't really feel it. The only downside is that my bf said it made me taste weird down below. HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 238

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to combat constipation without getting dumping? I looked At prune juice but it has too much sugar. The Phillips pills I got don't really do anything. I feel like I haven't gone in a week and really just want to clear it all out! Thanks! HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244.

I take seasonique. I used to be on drop and loved it. But my surgeon says no depo bc of weight gain and hormone issues. If they make you sick try to take them at bed time. HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 238

Curious questions about Meds
nathaly replied to elli'smommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so you have to talk to your family doctor or surgeon regarding your meds. Most of them, unless they are slow release, can be crushed. If it cant be crushed then your dr needs to change your meds to liquid or crushable meds. The hospital gave me a handy pill crusher. I sprinkle my meds on apple sauce otherwise they taste awful. After 4 weeks you will be able to take pills whole but only if they are smaller than a tiktak. I take 3 Flinstones complete chewable bc they contain Iron and I don't have to take a separate pill. 2 citracal petite crushed and an omeprazol in applesauce. And three liquid gels of d Vitamin. Also a sublingual b12. Make sure to space out your Multivitamin and calcium 4 hours otherwise they don't absorb right. And take everything with food or right before bed bc they all make me nauseous if I don't. Good luck!! HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 238 -

I got generic dulcolax suppositories. "Bycosin" right off the shelf at my local drug store. I also suggest getting gloves for a mess free insertion. HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244.

Anyone aware of any good Protein bars? I checked over 20 at my local grocery store and all of them had a ton of sugar or sugar alcohols! HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244.

I looked at them but the sugars looked really high. 15 grams and the first ingredient was sugar then a few ingredients down corn syrup. I was afraid of dumping. Did they work ok for you? HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244.

This was my fancy dinner. I didn't eat it all but I had 1 steamed shrimp, 3 mussels, 1 clam, 1 oyster. 1 of the lobster legs. With lemon, Tabasco, and salsa! Yum! HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244. -
Extreme gas after eating
nathaly replied to crazedteacher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on what I eat but I've heard it's not uncommon. I use gas x strips when I get gassy! HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244. -
I agree! I think it's a moisture problem. I was able to eat very moist left overs today. I added some water and a damp paper towel in the microwave. It went down much better! HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244.

Does anyone else have problems with reheated foods? Last week I ate a piece of juicy chicken and saved some for the next day. The left overs made me vomit. Then the same happened a few days later. Yesterday I cooked an awesome salmon. Saved some for lunch. Just ate it and now I'm so uncomfortable and vomiting again. Could it be that my pouch is rejecting left overs? Or maybe it's the microwave drying out the food? Thanks! HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244.

I was told the same. No bread because it expands in your pouch and will plug up the stoma. No rice or Pasta because they clump together and also plug up the stoma. After six months your pouch may be able to handle it but not right now. HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244.

The high temp of the microwave kills any bacteria. Also my fridge temp is below bacteria growing temp. I made taco meat tonight and will eat it again for lunch tomorrow to make sure it's not a moisture issue. If I get sick again I'm done with leftovers! My dogs are gonna love all the extra food! 2.5 oz of 96% lean beef browned and fat discarded. Added taco seasoning and a spoon of salsa. Ate with smushed avocado and refried beans. Yum! I still miss the tortilla but this will have to pass for a taco till I can use lettuce. HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244. -
It's completely normal. I had mine 4 weeks ago and I was worried about it too!! A week in I could drink a lot without a problem. My surgeon said its because we don't have the flap (sphincter ) at the bottom of our stomach. It's just a hole now (stoma). So liquids pass through very easily. Same with soft solids like eggs and yougurt! HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244.

3oz of blackened salmon. Very easy and delish! Got a 6oz salmon fillet from the grocery store for 3.50. Added blackened seasoning and pan seared with olive oil. Definitely hit the spot! HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244. -
2-week pre-op diet....ugh!
nathaly replied to anm1063's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a constant headache while on the two week preop diet and the first 4 days after surgery. It gets better. It's your body going through food withdrawal. HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244. -
I got an anti itch cream with hydrocortisone and also mederma scar therapy. The hydrocortisone made the itching go away and the mederma is helping my scars fade. HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 244.
