Surgery tomorrow @ 8am. Today is sugar free jello, decaf tea and chicken broth. I'm starving! Thankfully I won't feel that way soon!

    RNY & Gallbladder removal

I knew that I had stones last year when I had a scan for some other issues. I had never had any problems. Lately I have been having some pain but nothing I would classify as an "attack" I have pushed to have it removed at the same time, knowing that WLS itself can cause issues and I don't want to go back under the knife. Plus...I am telling co-workers I am having my GB removed now and I can only had that once. Hahaha. I'm not sure what that's recovery is for a standalone GB removal. I guess that is something I'll have to work around.
  6. Looking for anyone who has had their gallbladder removed at the same time as the RNY surgery. Can you tell me what the recovery time was like? Also, from what I am reading, side effects of gallbladder removal can be diarrhea...but side effects of RNY can be constipation....which do you experience? Is there anything that stands out as being different from others RNY experiences since you had the gallbladder out at the same time? Thank you!

I had my appointment with ther surgeon today. I will be having my gall bladder removed at the same time. I have not received the official call from the hospital yet but the surgeon said I am the first on the schedule...so should be 8am. Which means arrive at 6ish? I guess that is better than a late time with nothing by mouth! Good news...no bowel cleanse! He said he has not found it to make a difference. Also... I wont need a catheter unless I have trouble urinating after surgery. Yay! I'm so nervous and emotional!

I had to meet a weight loss goal before being approved for surgery...and that was supposed to be to shrink the liver. Beyond that I have to do liquid diet starting 2 days before surgery (clear liquids on the second day) I have not been given any instructions on an intestinal/colon cleanse of any kind. Not sure if I should do that..if so I'll have to reconsider working the day before. Lol.

    What ya eating tonight?

Dorian, I use the food scale almost every day. I had an older one that didn't seem too accurate. I bought a digital one at Target for about $20.

    well...there went todays diet

I definitely avoided the scale this morning. I don't even feel like eating breakfast. But.... It was really really good. I'm going to miss shrimp chow fun.
  13. I have been super good...I have lost 29 lbs so far on my pre op diet...always under 1200 calories...haven't cheated once...and then I ordered chinese food...apparently that's my weekness. So, since I already blew it, I decided to finish off some Ben & Jerrys that was in the freezer. I know that "tomorrow is another day" but right now i'd like to hit the rewind button. Also, I keep thinking that in 3 weeks there is no way I'll be able to do this again!

    April Dates

Hi Everyone! New Here! Surgery date is April 10th! I'm scared out of my mind! I've never had surgery before! So, let's see...this is my brief story: I've been overweight for probably the last 18 years, since I had my 2nd child. I have tried many diets and even (in my mind) considered WLS but was never brave enough to look in to it. So, I finally asked my PCP for a referral to the WLS orientation class (Kaiser). I attended that on 1/30. I went to a dr appt on 2/1 (ob) and weighed in at my heighest weight ever...318. :-( I honestly didnt know it had moved up that high. My highest before had been 299. I went to the next class (4 hr orientation) and met with the surgeon on 2/12. He gave me my pre-surgery goal of 295. I then attended a nutrition class and had all my pre-op labs done. I went to my pysch eval on 3/11 and weighed in at 294.6 :-) I was then able to schedule my surgery. My biggest dilemna right now is what to tell work...I don't want to say I am having WLS. Gall bladder? I don't know what to do! By the way, I just looked at your profile hockeymumzie and we are similar profiles! Same age & height! I am always looking for people my height to compare too! LOL.
