Wow, that is an amazing loss and a great testimony! -
I was switched from July 26th to July 30th. I will be just going into surgery while the rest of you July crew will be at home living the high life of shakes and puréed tuna.

Looks like July will be my month!

Well, I just got a call advising my surgery will be July 30th. My surgery scheduler advised my doc will be out of town on the 26th. -

July 26th!!!!!! I start a two week liquid diet on the 12th. I am very nervously excited. I watched the surgery on you tube again yesterday and am glad I have a doctor that I have full confidence in. -
I know each experience is different but now that I have a date it is becoming more real. What was everyones hospital stay like. Are they poking and prodding you at all hours? Do hospitals normally have WiFi? I know I will be doing lots of walking but outside of that is it just sitting around resting while waiting for a burp or fart. What are the leg compression sleeves like? Are the uncomfortable or not too bad? Do your spouces or family members stay overnight or did they go home. Right now my biggest concerns are the catheter, drain tube and getting stuck with a roomate who wants to talk.

how did u decide Gastric bypass rather than the sleeve
PittGuy replied to mom24kiddos's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My surgeon is great. I was going to do the band until I met with her. She was very honest and after the meeting I was more comfortable with the bypass -
Anxious & Scared of Failure.
PittGuy replied to SarahBeth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is easy to let ones mind start thinking about the 'what its'... what if there are complications.. what if I regain weight ...but I have found that coming up with a 'what if' goal.. mine is 'what if I am not around to walk my daughter down the Ilse'. She is 5 now and I am going to do whatever it takes to be there... that is my focus -
Good luck...keep us updated.

Had hoped the hair loss would skip me - NOT :(
PittGuy replied to Cherry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any guys out there dealing with this? I have pretty short hair so any loss is going to jump out. I definitely would trade it for being healthier but I will take all steps possible to minimize. -
Not many forums where this is celebrated!!! Congrats!

That has to be great and so freeing on the mind. I am glad you had a great time.

I need suggestions on healthy foods, snacks and exercises.
PittGuy replied to VGB2RNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know this is easy to say as I have not had my surgery yet, but I am trying my hardest to focus on the lifestyle changes as this is what is going to keep the weight off five years from now and not on how quickly the weight will come off. I know my mindset my be difficult to maintain when I hit my first stall. It is great your refocusing on diet and exercise this will help win the marathon!! -
That's great - have a great vacation and lose weight! Vacations have often been dreaded by me (airline seats, roller coasters) but as a family we are already planning a trip for next year and I can't wait!!!

Questions on hospital stay
PittGuy replied to PittGuy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely understand that I need to follow my teams plan and I meet with them at the beginning of July to get all the detail. My insurance assigned my a nurse advocate to help me along also and she has helped me get my question list ready for my office team at each step. I started this thread to kind of get an idea of what may happen. I know my story will be unique and my surgeon will be the co-author of what is going to happen but i have enjoyed reading everyone story and with each one i grow less anxious about July 26th. -
