    Did you cheat?

I cheated. I had a food funeral!! I was 248 on my first doctor visit and 2 months later on DOS I was 252. But now I'm 220. It's so much easier post surgery.

    Protein

I had surgery one month ago and this would be so helpful. Please email me when you have a chance! Kstraight@gmail.com Thanks!!!!
  3. Surgery was 4/25 and I still can't sleep on my stomach or side. It drives me crazy to sleep on my back but I have no choice. I try on my tummy but I'm still a little sore
  4. I did the same thing. I'm two weeks post surgery, was finally starting to feel normal and then I pulled a muscle on my left side. It freaking kills!
  5. I'm 9 days out and just now starting to get back to normal. Like you, I was in a lot of pain at first- didn't expect that much pain and I thought by day 5 I'd be feeling normal. I was sooo wrong. Everyone is different, some ppl have almost no pain post-op and others have a lot! I can say that each day after day 6 or 7 got a lot better. I even went to the store and walked for an hour with my family!today. Good luck to you, hang in there!!

    Update.

Sparklette how many days post op are you? I'm on day 6 and still a lot of pain on my abdomen in two spots when I walk or stand. I called the doc today And they said its from cut muscles and will take time. I just thought at 6 days out the pain would be all gone.

    Clothing Size Wishes

I'm 5'4" and a size 18W pants (snug) and 2xl tops. 250 lbs at surgery 6 days ago. I'd like to be 140 and a size 8/10 and large tops, medium maybe. I have hips and big boobs so ill always be a bit curvy!
  9. I'm 6 days post-op and feel out of whack- physically and emotionally. It's got to be normal but I'm sad that we are finally having nice weather and I'm stuck inside while my husband is out playing with our kids. I just don't physically feel up to it yet. I have sharp pain when I get up or down or when I walk. If I sit still I'm fine. I'm getting the fluids and protein in just fine but I'm so anxious to be back to normal. I thought it would feel better by now Sorry to vent!

  13. It depends a lot on your insurance requirements- if they don't require a pre-op supervised diet, you can usually fast track it. I had my first info meeting on March 5 and surgery is scheduled for April 25. I had to get PCP sign off, just had an upper GI, have a few more tests and psych eval in early April and I'm set. Good luck to you! CW: 248, Surgery Date: 4/25/13

    April Dates

Here is my brief story! I'm 37 years old and went on my first diet (Medical Weight Loss Clinic) at age 11. I was probably only 10-15 lbs overweight but that stigma stuck with me my entire life. I weight 248.5 right now - the highest non-pregnant weight I have ever been. My BMI is 42. I actually got down to 210 on my own over a 6 month period, quit smoking in August and put it all back on and then some. My only regret thus far is not looking into WLS earlier in my life. When I got up the courage to discuss with my PCP and have my first appt with the surgeon, they both said I was an excellent candidate given my history (up and down so much over 25 years). My surgery date is set for April 25th. I've had 2 c-sections and gall bladder surgery so I know I will feel pain afterwards which makes me a little nervous, but I'm eager to push through it all and start seeing some lasting results. I just don't want to fail again. I have opted NOT to tell my work what surgery I'm having. I will be out for probably around a month (I'm guessing - I will go on short term disability), but I do not want my co-workers to know why. There are only about 15 of us at my company and 12 of them are runners - yes TWELVE. So I've always felt "less than" when it comes to their physical health and abilities vs mine. I have talked to my HR person about needing time off for medical reasons and she said that she (or anyone) does not need to know why - but just needs a note from the doctor with the time off he recommends. I'm curious to know: what are the highest Protein shakes/best tasting people have tried (anything similiar to SlimFast - I don't mind that taste). I like sweet things! also, how much time are people taking off work? I have a sedentary desk job but with all the diet changes, emotional changes, I think I was going to look at a month off to heal and get on the right track b4 jumping back into work. I wish everyone the best of luck!

    April Dates

I have BCBS of Michigan. I was sure I would have to do a 6 month diet but when I met with the surgeon they said BCBS waived that requirement with a PCP sign off. So 2 weeks ago I thought I'd be lucky to have surgery in Sept. so I'm elated to have an April date. I've been on countless diets for 25 years- since I was 11 years old so that requirement seemed crazy to me. I'm just ready to start!!!

    April Dates

Hi everyone! I just started this process 2 weeks ago and have a surgery date set for April 25th. My insurance doesn't require pre-authorization and my PCP signed off on Saturday. My BMI is 42 with 100 lbs to lose. I'm nervous and excited. I have my upper GI set for Thursday. Best of luck to everyone. This forum has already been a great help so far!
