    Fairy tale

Just hearing of successes from members like you is enough to keep me going. With a little time, good planning, and diligence I will be there eventually. Thanks!

    Rash

I really need this cleared before I go back to work on Monday, or I will be pretty miserable! RNY surgery was a breeze, little pain, no complications, minor issues (constipation and gas-gone now). After all that a stupid RASH is kicking my butt and making me miserable...
  3. I love the cape, it's my favorite day trip. P-town in October and lots of parking with no crowds. Driving around exploring little towns and fresh roadside seafood. September and October are the best months in seaside towns. The tourists really don't know what they're missing. I live near Little Compton RI (just a couple houses away from the town line). And I grew up on Aquidneck Island in Newport. My whole life has been spent a stone's throw from the ocean. When I was smaller it was always a part of my life to go swimming in the evening, after the tourists were gone. It seems like only locals love the beach in the evenings. The beach was where I had make-out dates with my husband (before and after marriage), swimming, crabbing, and clamming with the kids, hot dog roasts and evening fishing with beach bonfires - all wonderful things I haven't done in fifteen years or more. I'm hoping I will feel comfortable enough to go for a cooling swim after a hot summer day. I haven't done that in years! I used to dread each new summer but now we have so much to look forward to!

    Rash

This morning it looks like part of the rash is drying up. Hard to really tell because of where it is (the whole area between my belly button and my bikini line - not that I wear one!) and it was so brilliantly purple yesterday, but the center looks a little less so today. Benedryl helped me sleep all night. After a good nights sleep and yesterday's nap at least I'm not dragging today. Dermatologist at 1pm. Looks like another dress day, can't bear jeans rubbing on the rash. :-(

anyone have blue cross blue shield?

BCBS of RI. Approval in less than a week. :-)
  8. Some people are worriers. Have him watch YouTube. It has a lot of rny stories that are pretty inspiring. I used to watch them endlessly... they helped me to decide. There are even a few with bad experiences, but those are usually the result of poor decisions and choices following surgery. Some even have complications and were educational for those possibilities. Of those no one regretted their decision. My husband told me one night that he didn't want a dead wife. I told him that without the surgery, that is exactly what he would get eventually. And I would be miserable until then.

What Exercise Did You Do Today?

An hour?! My hubby is a body builder and he can't do more than 30 mins on the elyptical machine. :-)
  10. My husband was behind me, but very reluctantly. He was concerned that I could die. I brought him to several appointments and he felt better about it after being more informed. He was still worried right up to the surgery, during the surgery, and after the surgery. He didn't start feeling better until my one week post op appt and my surgeon said how well I was doing.

    Constipation

Thanks Dorian. I had an appointment with my nutritionist today and was discussing this with her too. Between the iron, high protein focus w/less fiber, and hypothyroidism I will always be battling constipation. I'm sure I'll be using anything that offers relief in the future.
  13. I had my surgery 5/30. Had bm a few days after, loose, but I'd rather have it that way, as I tend to be constipated. Everything was good all week but today I'm... constipated. I got very nervous because I'm not supposed to strain. I'm supposed to take stool softener but I can't have pills that can't be crushed for a whole month. All the stool softeners at the drugstore were liquigels. I talked to the pharmacist and they had a liquid I could take that they keep behind the counter that doesn't require a script. Best yet it was $1.75 for thirty days worth. I'm hoping it'll do the trick. But is it NASTY! :-p. I'm going to try it in applesauce next time. Anyone have any tips to avoid it after I'm healed? I don't want to take something every time...

    Constipation

Oh yeah. When I told her I tried the stool softener liquid from the drugstore she told me to dump it out. She said it works, but it's the worst-tasting stuff EVER. :-) :-)

    Constipation

Ended up going to see the NP today for a stubborn itchy rash that's been plaguing me. Since I was there I discussed my other issues with her. I can take Miralax for now. After 30 days I'm to take 2-4 stool softener liquigels daily, forever. She gave me some protein tips, too. She says I'm doing great and incisions look great. Now if only this damn rash would clear up...

    Great day today

That's how I feel. Nice even straight lines. I have a touch of OCD. :-)
  17. I have been so bored, doing nothing much. Today I decided to cut the grass. It had rained a lot, the grass was long, and my hubby was too busy to cut it. We have 1 1/2 acres, 3/4 of it is grass, and half of that is on flat ground (the rest is steep hill). I figured I could cut the flat areas and leave the rest for my hubby. My mower is self-propelled and I use the mulcher so I don't have to empty the bagger. So I did it. I took it slow and every half hour I took a fifteen minute rest and drank my water. I was a little nervous so I paid attention to my body - it didn't send me any warning signals. Then I spent the afternoon with my dogs on the deck. Now if only I can get my husband to get out there and finish his part...

    Great day today

Headaches suck. I've never had a migraine, I hear they're horrible. Hope you feel better soon. I LOVE cutting the grass. When I was a child we never had a yard, so when I got married and we bought our first home I really got into the yard. As an added bonus, when I was cutting grass the kids weren't allowed to bother me unless it was an emergency, so mowing grass was as close as I got to 'quiet time'. My husband is the only man in the neighborhood who has a grass-cutting wife. He's the envy of every man on the street! :-) :-)
