  1. Inspiring, encouraging and informative. Probably the best single source of practical and factual information I've seen. Information always combined with words of encouragement and positive comments. If DL writes it, I read it. :-)

What Exercise Did You Do Today?

Water aerobics sound great! I wish they had that nearby. The closest Y is 18-20 miles away from me. The beach is only five miles away. Which brings me to another issue. I have not worn a bathing suit in maybe 12-14yrs. The elastic in my suit is rotted with age. For two weeks I have been looking for a suit so I can cool off at the beach after work (we're in the midst of another heat wave right now). All the stores are picked over, especially the bigger sizes which I still need. They've already got back-to-school stuff out! I'm leery of buying online because I need to try them on. Any suggestions?

    What ya eating tonight?

P-town in July... um, no. Too many people for me. We go on nice September/October days. Southern New England in the Fall - tourists don't know what they're missing! Plenty of parking, no waiting in restaurants, no crowds. Have fun! :-)

    Problems with poultry...

I tried chopping chicken up in my food processor and adding chicken gravy to moisten it. I had no problems with it that way. I haven't had it since because after I have something sometimes I can't stand the thought of having it again. I also tried Willow Tree chicken salad. That made me nauseous - I think it was the mayo.

    What ya eating tonight?

Fresh fish is delicious and moist. I wrap it in foil w/whatever combination of seasonings, herbs, lemon, salsa, or whatever I'm feeling like. Seal it, vent it, and toss it on the grill for 5-10 minutes, depending on portion size. Delicious! And no fishy smell in the house when you cook it outside. :-) You can cook scallops or shrimp on skewers outside, too. Shellfish and crustaceans cook fast, you need to be careful not to overcook or it's dry or rubbery.

Joseph's brand wraps are low carb, high protein. I don't know if it's just a local thing, though. Where are you located?

I would have eaten this - it sounds flavorful. :-)
  9. I was never an emotional eater. I was a bored eater so the heavier I got, the more I sat on the couch, the more I ate, the heavier I got, etc. My issue was more that once I started eating I couldn't stop. I was a carb addict - literally. I actually go through withdrawal when I stop eating sugar and other bad carbs (flu-like symptoms like headache, severe body aches). It's amazing now, food doesn't control my life. I don't crave sweets or other 'bad' foods. I can pass up sweets with no longing whatsoever. Rather than binging I'm eating very small amounts, eating some of what's on my small plate, and then throwing out the rest. I can't believe it's me actually throwing away food! I don't miss those foods yet, and hope I never will. Would you miss someone who hurt you for years when they're finally gone from your life? The foods I used to eat weren't good to me - why would I miss them? I feel more in control. I'm slowly increasing my walking, my back pain is improving some so I have hopes of it going away altogether someday. I'm doing more with my family. I'm painting again. I'm walking my overweight little dachshund more. Now that he's being more active he's losing weight too. The future is looking brighter now. :-) :-) :-)

3.5 Mons Post Op & Only 15 lbs To Go!

Such energy! You are doing awesome! I got exhausted just reading this! Lol. I'm almost 54 and I've been overweight for 28yrs. I still have back pain but it's slowly improving as I lose - It's all I can do to walk two miles! I think I could do more if we could get rid of this heat and humidity. Lately it's either 90° plus or it's raining... and there's no relief in sight. Hate summer! Love, love, love Fall! :-)

    Bowel Prep! Yikes!

I had the cherry. Almost got the lemon but the pharmacist said most people go for cherry or grape.

    Bowel Prep! Yikes!

At my nurse-ed class they said to put it in the fridge the day before. It goes down easier cold. And stake a claim on a bathroom in your house. Don't let anyone near it - it's yours for the night! Definitely do not leave the house. It wasn't as bad as I feared either. The taste was not the worst I ever had and the bottle was not too big. I went a few tomes in the evening, and again in the morning when I arrived at the hospital.
  13. I feel full on very little. I ate about a third of a cup of pea soup for lunch today (12:30). And I was as full as I used to feel after any big meal. I didn't get hungry again until 6pm. Dinner was a Greek yogurt.

    What ya eating tonight?

A coast is a coast! I think there are differences in the fish and crustaceans but they're all good. So blessed to be able to have fresh seafood whenever I want. There's a quahogger who comes in my bank who brings me clams. I know they're only a couple hours out of the sand and oh so sweet! Can't get much fresher than that! And cutting out the middle man I only pay $3/qt during peak season. (The tourists pay $8 and up). And he delivers. :-)

Cut or Not to Cut My Hair is the Question!

The Bob you're considering is really pretty! You could wait a while to make your decision. Maybe your hair loss will stop soon and you won't be forced to decide. Either way, you will look beautiful! And if you're forced to cut it, it will grow back... :-)

    quick question.

I would feel better that they ruled out internal bleeding. Sounds like they are being thorough before sending you home - that's as it should be. :-)

Born and raised in sight of the ocean, so I love, love, love seafood. I've heard that catfish is delicious, though I've never had it. :-)

    What ya eating tonight?

Tried bending, didn't work. Tried fingers down the throat, didn't work. Tried looking at food, made me nauseous but didn't work. I'm just not a puker. I think remembering I am not the same as I used to be and being more careful in the future is going to be my best defense. Am I the only one who feels so normal that you sometimes wonder if the doctor did the surgery right? That is, until this happens? Feeling like this is a confirmation that yes, he DID do it right.
