    What ya eating tonight?

I'm making buffalo wings to have for this afternoon's game! My friend makes an awesome blue cheese dressing - I'm picking it up in a little while. I may even have a little chicken - picked off the bone, skin removed, and dredged in blue cheese. GO PATS!!!!! :-)

  3. Maybe the honey did it? Or nuts? I can't have nuts till six months out. I can eat shrimp just fine - I have it w/just a little cocktail sauce.

    Sugar free ice cream?

If you want a frozen treat try Healthy Choice frozen Greek yogurt. It has 4gr of protein and 100 calories. I keep it in my freezer so when my hubby has ice cream I can have a little something too. The hard part is getting him to leave it alone - he'll eat the whole package (three 1/2 cup servings). I like the blueberry and strawberry flavors but it also comes in vanilla and chocolate swirl flavors. I found a frozen Greek yogurt bar at Stop&Shop that also has 4gr of protein. I bought my husband the raspberry flavor and I think the other one was blueberry/pomegranate. One store had it in chocolate, too. (Hubby's favorite). It's not too pricy because it's the store brand.

    Getting pissed

Other people are going to eat as they always have. You are the one who has changed so you are the one who needs to find a way to deal with your feelings. It may be that you'll need to avoid being in the room w/people who are eating until you can tolerate it. Or maybe being a part of the socialization during a meal will help you get over it. Try not to be angry with people for eating normally. I take my meals as I need them. Sometimes they coincide with my husband's meal and sometimes not. It doesn't bother me to prepare food for him or see him eat it. I go out to eat with family and coworkers, or order takeout, or eat on the run (although eating on the run is 'planned' - it's always Wendy's chili or Dunkin Donuts egg white wrap). I know what things I can safely eat and order them. I carry a lunch bag everywhere I go so I have acceptable 'safe' things to eat. In time you will feel better about what you are able to eat. Other people's food choices won't bother you, especially as you begin to see the results. :-)

    Sugar free ice cream?

Does it have Protein and/or necessary nutrients? If not it's empty calories. Try to make everything you eat count.

    Sugar free ice cream?

That's good rule. I eat foods higher in protein, also. I can eat so little now - I try to make every bite count. :-)

    caffeine

I gave it up two months before surgery. I think we are allowed coffee at three months? I'm four months out but decided not to go back to my old habit. When I quit coffee I started sleeping through the night w/o any sleep aids. I hadn't been able to do that in 27 years. Who knew the solution was as simple as giving up coffee? :-)
  19. I started feeling it in the way my clothes fit long before I saw it. It was about two-three months before customers in my bank noticed, probably because I'm a teller and I have a high counter in front of me (and I'm pretty short). One lady even asked me if I had cancer a couple weeks ago. Family members noticed around two months out. You'll get there. Don't focus only on visible signs. Some big milestones for me were less obvious but made me very happy and I considered them successes worth celebrating. Things like when I stopped snoring, when my knees stopped hurting, when my back pain disappeared, when I could paint my toes, when I began sleeping better, when I came home from work and still had energy, when I had to have three links removed from my watch after I almost lost it, when my labs showed everything perfect and even my high cholesterol was gone, and on, and on. Since my surgery four months ago a lot of things have changed for the better - the fact that I look better is only frosting on the cake. :-)
  20. Mine says the same. I love salad and should be able to try it by the holidays. :-)
