    What ya eating tonight?

Thanks you everyone for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Still no news.

    hopeful

I was out two weeks and could've gone back after one. It's possible for it to work for you but try to be prepared for the unexpected, just in case. I work in a bank. When I went back to work I was on my feet all day, though not walking a lot on the job. I wasn't tired and had no problems, aside from a few food-related mishaps as I learned. To prepare for your return to work, walk as much as possible during your recovery at home. Walking helps you feel better and it will increase you stamina when you return to work. Lots of short walks each day are good, not necessarily walking miles all at once. My doctor recommended climbing stairs also. Don't overdo it. When you return to work try to take more frequent short breaks to rest and drink, and a longer break every four hours to eat some sort of Protein. Don't try new foods at work and don't eat fast - both will result in a painful, miserable time period during which you will be of no use to anybody. Chew your food well, or better yet, make those first meals on your busy days yogurt, pea Soup, Protein shakes (ready made like Atkins), sf pudding w/added Protein powder, or puréed chili. The activity is good for you but it's critical that you stay hydrated, eat protein-rich, and rest as needed. And don't forget those vitamins! Good luck to you! I'm looking forward to black Friday shopping this year. For six years I've been lower on the seniority list but I finally got it off this year! I don't need to buy much but I love the excitement of it - going out in the dark while everyone is sleeping and seeing the crowds at the well-lit stores (I love people-watching) and listening to Christmas music! Black Friday is to women what deer hunting is to men! Lol

    5 day pouch test

And sometimes I drop things off at my local firehouse. The firefighters love it!

    5 day pouch test

I love to bake and do it all the time, especially this time of year. The oven warms the house when it's chilly but not cold enough for the woodstove. It's just me and my husband and he's a body builder so he only eats 'clean'. When I bake I bring whatever it is to work - my coworkers devour it! Or I bring it to my neighbor - he lost his wife last year and is all alone. He likes my cookies, cakes, and quick breads!

    June Post Ops!

Snacking will sabotage you, as I'm sure you know. My program allows one or two snacks a day. I make sure everything I eat has some protein. My snack choices include: peach Greek yogurt, 1 oz cheddar cheese, Ostrim ostrich & turkey teriyaki stick, cottage cheese w/fruit (breakstones cottage doublers), lentil crackers w/spicy humus, tbs natural peanut butter, or a deviled egg. Faunce Corner Nutrition in Dartmouth MA carries foods for bariatric patients that are high in protein. I found something called CrunchO's that come in sour cream and onion (my favorite!) And BBQ flavors. They look like cheerios but have the consistency of cheetos. Each single serve bag has 12gr protein and I think 130 cals. I have these maybe 2-3 times a week. It satisfies my craving for salty, crunchies but gives me protein. You can order them online if you want to try them. :-)

    June Post Ops!

Where do you live? I'm in RI. I've gotten rid of many bags of clothes already. Today I'm taking a tote full of better clothing to the consignment store (they'll only take one tote). Then I'm meeting a girl from my support group so she can go through the three bags and two totes I have left. And I've got three wool winter coats (one bought this past Feb before I attended my WLS Surgery seminar. I had to buy it because all of my other winter coats were too small.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

Can you exchange them for something smaller? I've been returning things I bought months ago that still have tags on them (no receipt returns get store credit) and then having fun shopping for nice things that fit or even buying smaller sizes (because I KNOW I'll get there). :-)

    What ya eating tonight?

Still no news. I know it's only a broken leg - it'll heal. It could have been worse in so many terrible ways so he's lucky. I'm just missing him and wanting to be with him. He's 22 and not married, so he has no family to be there for him. He's got his platoon buddies and a few of them are really good friends. Maybe they'll let him come home to heal? He was supposed to start his second deployment after the holidays (he's security for Force Recon) but that's not going to happen now. I guess we'll find out more in the next couple of days.

    What ya eating tonight?

Yogurt. Not feeling it tonight. Bad news from my son. He's a marine training for his next deployment. He was rappelling out of a helicopter tonight and fell to the ground, shattering his leg. He's in surgery to repair it - he needs a plate and screws. I wish I could be there but he's in California and I'm in New England. He's no baby, but he's MY baby. :-(

    August Post Ops

But most commonly strictures can be fixed the first time. Take it one step at a time. It's a good thing you've been diagnosed with something that has an easy quick fix. You'll be feeling better soon! :-)
  11. A safe bet for me is shrimp cocktail, a cup of clam chowder or other soup, or maybe chili. At Chili's I ordered a guacamole burger w/no bread. The guacamole helps keep the ground beef from being too dry and I can get two meals out of it. At a Mexican place we went to for lunch one day I had a burrito plate - burrito ingredients of your choice minus the tortilla. Mexican places always have healthy beans and veggies. I have ordered grilled fish and sweet potato. In a pinch I'll get Wendy's chili. At Dunkin Donuts I get an egg white wake-up wrap. At any place that serves breakfast I can get a scrambled egg w/grilled veggies, ham, and/or cheese, or a slice of quiche. So many easy, healthy choices. Anyone can find something they can tolerate that fits their dietary needs in almost any resturaunt out there. Sometimes the portion is too big but I take the leftovers home and I can get another meal or two out of it. :-)

    What ya eating tonight?

Ham and cheddar lunchable, minus a few crackers that I shared w/the crows. I still can't eat a whole one.

    shoe size

I just noticed that my 9 1/2's don't fit anymore. I wonder if the 9's will go next? If that happens I have nothing below a 9. I better start a shoe fund now...

    JAN 2013 POST-OP PICS

A woman came in my bank w/two children (a newborn and a three year old) named 'Octavius' and 'Alerius'. Her name was "Zara' and her husband's name is 'Tyree'. Tyree's mom's name is 'Happy' - Has to be from the hippy-sixties! Lol I like old-fashioned English names (you can get some unusual ideas from headstones in the older section of cemeteries). Names like Micah, Thornton, Miles, Hannah, Morgaine, etc. :-)

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I'm 54 and have pancakes. Maybe it's better if you're younger.

Thanks! It sounds easy enough. I'll give it a try! :-)

    What ya eating tonight?

Oh, and how do you make pumpkin chili? It sounds interesting...

    What ya eating tonight?

I made sugar free apple crisp, too! I topped it w/chopped pecans. It was so gloomy today - a good day to run the oven and fill up the house w/delicious smells. I'm not brave enough to try it (probably too sweet for me) but my hubby and daughter love it! :-)

    What ya eating tonight?

What fish do you use? And do you make it like clam chowder but w/fish?
  20. Before my surgery, when I was going through my "last supper" phase, I found the same thing - nothing tasted as good as I anticipated. I try to keep that in mind if something is tempting me. That and the fact that I could get sick. :-p :-) :-) :-)

    head ache!

Are you drinking plenty of fluids. Mild dehydration usually is the cause if I get a headache. Are you drinking caffeine? That can do it too.
