    How about some NSVs!?!?

Tomorrow morning we pick up my son at the airport. He knows I had weight loss surgery but the last time he saw me was in June, only three weeks after my surgery, and I was still over 200lbs. I weigh 135 now! I have lost so much weight since then, he won't recognize me! I can't wait to see the look on his face! :-)

    What ya eating tonight?

Chili is my favorite, too. I always tolerate it well. :-) Tonight I had my first salad in seven months. A little spinach w/hard boiled egg, feta, crumbled bacon, ham chunks, salsa, and black olives. I was nervous as always when introducing something new, but it sat well. I love salad - it'll be nice to add it back into my life. :-)

You can keep your big snow! :-) We've been on the mild side for the last two days so our snow and ice is gone. Tomorrow is supposed to be near 60°! In 9 hours we pick up my son at the airport. I'm excited to see him - the last time he saw me I weighed over 200lbs. I'm at 135lbs now! He won't recognize me! :-)

Be careful around open flames like campfires and fireplaces. Lol
  6. Pretty soon you'll have to drop the"Big" and just go to "Wojo". :-)
  7. Insulated lunch bag for me too. It goes everywhere with me. I don't leave my meals and snacks to chance. And appetizer plates, appetizer forks and spoons. I use them to help keep my bites small. It's also hard to eat fast with a tiny utensil. Lots of small covered containers for storing and heating perfect portions of foods that you like. I bought a small ceramic bowl with a cover that has a steam vent - perfect for microwaving meals without drying them out when I'm at work (dried out foods are the source of all my misery). Water bottles. I keep them at work, in my car, and at home. A pill container or other small container for your purse to keep your calcium in. It's the only supplement I keep forgetting because it can't be taken w/multivitamins, which I take mornings and evenings. I would think of the calcium during the day but I wouldn't have any w/me. Now I carry calcium with me so I can take it when I think of it.

    Not losing lbs

It does get expensive. After Christmas there will be lots of clearance sales as stores start bringing in spring clothes. Sometimes the clearance prices are as cheap as or cheaper than thrift stores. :-)

    June Post Ops!

Mine was high this last time. Because of the irreversible damage B deficiency can cause I have a fear of not getting enough so I've been taking 3000 a day instead of the recommended 500. Too much B won't hurt you. It's harmless, unlike some vitamins which can cause problems (according to my nut). My doc suggested taking it every other day instead of every day.

Congrats! It feels wonderful doesn't it! :-)
  12. Does your insurance require a supervised diet pre-op? That's the only thing I can think of that would account for such a long delay. My surgery date was scheduled immediately following approval - no wait. My insurance required three months of a documented failed weight-loss attempt. I met that requirement already because BCBSRI paid for all my co-pays when I did Optifast four years ago.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

My wish is to hit 100lbs lost by Christmas day. Today I am only 2.7lbs away. It's possible I'll get there! :-)

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I tried on sz12 jeans at TJMaxx today and they didn't fit! They were LOOSE!!! The clerk must have thought I was an idiot when I gave them to her and told her they didn't fit but I was grinning like a crazy woman! :-)

My doctor never set a goal for me either. I just wanted to be healthier and feel good so I could start living my life. Now that I've passed my lowest pre-pregnancy weight I am daring to dream of reaching my married weight of 115 (I'm only 5' - 4'11" according to my doctor). That would be only 20 more pounds. It sounds doable but if it didn't happen I'm okay with it. I'm content to be where I am. :-) :-) :-) Losing a 100 pounds (or more, like you guys have) is AMAZING! I love feeling good and actually doing things I haven't enjoyed in years!!! I'm looking forward to the new year! :-) :-) :-)

    The Slow Losers Thread

My endocrinologist recommended an exercise program you can buy at Target. I think it was called Walk Off the Weight? Or something similar. It's a walking in place program - you only need a chair to hold onto. You can do it in front of your TV. Sounds great for cold winters. :-)

    Not losing lbs

That is an average of 4 pounds per week. Sounds pretty awesome! Keep it in perspective - you're doing pretty good. There'll be slow times, stalls, and then suddenly... a big drop or a slow, steady downward trend. Follow your program as close as possible and it'll continue. One day soon you'll be where you want to be. Enjoy the journey! :-)
  20. Being unable to eat ANYTHING in quantity, no matter what my head told, me helped me get over cravings. Cravings are a mental habit - with time, if you don't feed the habit, it goes away. Try not to look for similar foods to replace your favorites with. From there it's a short step back to old habits. Try to find new healthy favorites. Become a gourmet - eat small amounts of new, delicious, healthier foods and savor the flavors. I'm almost 7months out. I love 2-3 pan seared scallops w/a couple asparagus spears, or 4-5 shrimp cocktail. I savor my yogurt as a sweet desert or snack. A few legume crackers w/spicy hummus make a filling snack. I love full-fat cheese so I indulge in a little now an again. Experiment - not being hungry let's you sample new foods without overdoing it - you'll find your own new favorites. Make it a lifetime change, not a slow transition back to your old habits. :-)

    What ya eating tonight?

Our slush turned to ice. Maybe more snow on the way. I hope I there is a warm-up to melt the ice before my son comes home Sunday. Crutches and ice - bad combination. :-(

    What ya eating tonight?

Big snow Southern New England style = a lot of weatherman-hype, people-turned-squirrel stocking up on milk and bread, then a few hours of steady snow that quickly changes to rain (the ocean's influence). We woke up to an inch or two of slush the morning. Tonight we're expecting frigid cold to turn it all to solid ice. :-(
