    Body Fortress

I'm going to try this in my coffee this morning at work. :-)

    How about some NSVs!?!?

You know how hard it is to find jeans that you love - good fit, comfortable, and look good. When I found mine I bought them in 14's, 12's, 10's, and 8's. The problem I'm having now that the 12's are too big, is that the 10's are still a tad too snug. Even weirder - the 10's and the 8's fit the same right now. :-/ So much for planning ahead...

    What ya eating tonight?

Cheese - calcium, protein, and creamy deliciousness! Embrace it! Lol I hate low fat and no fat cheese. Only the real thing will do, so that's what I have. Just less frequently and smaller amounts. SO worth it!! :-)

    What ya eating tonight?

I hated it when my kids decided they liked one of my favorite foods. That meant when I wanted some it would be gone! Lol

    What ya eating tonight?

Went to Target tonight and they had the protein granola so I bought four bags! A friend gave me some coupons so I got a great deal. I won't be running out of it until Spring! Lol

This sounds like a great idea! Summer's coming (I hope!) and I might want to have an voice coffee. I can justify it if I'm also getting protein. How much would you put in, say, a small 8oz coffee? A scoop? Less?

    Grocery store staples

Definitely shrimp and cocktail sauce! :-)

    Grocery store staples

And re-fried beans, Hormel turkey chili w/beans, Oscar Meyer ham and swiss lunchables, Atkins ready made shakes, 4C sf iced green tea packets, and CrunchO's protein snacks.

    What ya eating tonight?

Isn't it funny. I used to get three meals from a can - now I get two! Lol

    What ya eating tonight?

I never heard of Woodmans so it must be a regional thing. I found the Key Lime yogurt at Stop&Shop - do you have those? Probably any large chain grocery store would have it. It is good. I'm going to check Target for the protein granola this week. It's the only other store I shop at that I haven't checked. If I have to I'll try Amazon. It's very good - at this point I don't care about the cost, I just want it! We got snow again today. More again on Wednesday... and again on Sunday. This is getting old! Lol

    Scared myself

You could've been seriously injured or died in a fall like that. Your mom could've called 911 if you'd been injured. My neighbor died in a slip and fall shower accident last fall. She was alone for hours before someone found her and by then it was too late. It would be wise to shower with someone nearby until you are sure it won't happen again. Be careful!

    Post op protein.

I was told no gum, too. No problem for me, I'm not a gum chewer. A straw was necessary for drinking my Protein - I can't drink it any other way. The smell, not the taste, gets to me. The straw keeps it a safe distance from my nose.

    Increased Appetite

Are you eating carbs? With me, carbs trigger cravings for more carbs. If that's not it, perhaps increased activity is making you hungry? Are you getting the protein you need?

    Weight gain

I gained 11 pounds from IV fluids on surgery day. It took a week to get back down to my pre-surgery weight. I was dismayed, but not surprised. I did a lot of reading here pre-op and knew what to expect. Relax, you're on your way to a smaller, healthier you! :-)

    Post op protein.

I use a straw to drink my Protein but I drink it slowly. I haven't had too many problems. A couple times I drank too fast and it was painful but that was last summer, in the first few months following my surgery.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

Isn't that an AMAZING feeling! I've been buying 8's and I was formerly a pretty tight 22, too. I keep thinking this can't be real, I can't possibly be an 8! That maybe the clothes are running big but I never had clothes run big when I was a 22...
  20. Although we have several incisions most of the work done during surgery is through the left side. That's where the pain lasts the longest. Take it easy, take Tylenol if needed, use a heating pad - it'll gradually go away. If it worsens, talk to your doctor again.

    What ya eating tonight?

This one is my favorite too. I add a little Bear Naked Protein Granola for some crunch w/protein boost. :-)
  22. I like the stairs suggestion. I like to walk but January was a brutally cold month. I think I'm going to do some stair-climbing. :-)

    Soups and protein

You can add unflavored protein to your soup but if the soup is hot the protein foams and sort of thickens the soup. I didn't like it that way. Also don't microwave the soup or heat it w/protein already added or it foams. If the soup is only warm it mixes better and you don't notice it as much. You might want to try adding 1/2 scoop instead of a full scoop and go from there. Experiment to see what works for you. Even adding a little protein will help over the course of a whole day. One person months ago said he put a full scoop of protein in a little bowl and throughout the day he added a little from the bowl to EVERYTHING he ate. It added 25 grams of protein without any trouble at all. :-)

Do you have a nutritional store that sells products for bariatric patients near you? If you do ask them... they can recommend a good product for you. Even a sports nutrition store will at least be able to tell you what each product is good for so you can make an educated guess. Faunce Corner Nutrition in Dartmouth MA carries a lot of products for bariatric patients. I'm sure they could answer any questions you might have and possibly recommend a good product to you. What ya eating tonight?

Dorian, I have some good coupons for the granola but can't for the life of me remember where I bought it! Not Stop&Shop, not the local family-owned market, not Wallyworld... I checked all of those this weekend. Maybe Target? It's driving me nuts! And I'm almost out of it! Try it mixed with Dannon Greek light & fit key lime... Amazing! :-)
