Hi I am having my tummy tuck tomorrow at 1230. I am nervous but excited. No more extra lap!! How much do you hurt? How much pain meds are you using. I have to say I am nervous to use them because I became constipated the last time.:w00t: I bought a bottle of senkot and plan on taking one of those each time I take a med. Did they tell you how much they took off? Are you happy you did it? Thanks Diana

Hi guys I had my band done Oct 4 2006 in portsmouth by Dr. Pacuilli. I love her and the program is great!! Any program that doesn't make you jump through hoops should be questioned. I have lost 81lbs. from 240 (I had been up over 260lbs) to 159 I'm 5'8", and soon to be 46 (June 13). The portsmouth group wants to see you succeed and wants to keep seeing you year after year. The group support meetings are great, informational and supportive. We all support one another! I can't say enough great things about the lap band. I wish you luck and hope to see you at a meeting one day!! Diana:thumbup:

Here is the truth about the band
5dogmom replied to alysedg23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have never thrown up or felt anything that you describe. I have no problems eating bread the only food I don't eat is roast beef (too dense). I am sorry you are having problems but this is not the norm. You have to go to your DR. something is wrong. -
Hi I am extremely happy with the lap band. I wish I did it sooner. The band is slower yes, but it forces you to deal with emotional issues, am I really hungry? It deals with portions, eating slower and small bites. I had the band in oct 2006 and started at 240 and now am 165 my goal is 155(I am 5' 8"). You have to realize this is a tool and not the end all. We have to deal with why we were fat etc. In general our portions served in restaurants are out of control and it no wonder we are a nation of fat americans. Everythings quick easy and processed fatty foods. This is truly a life altering decsion, the last resort. I also believe exercise is very important in our life and attending support meetings. You get to meet others and get great ideas and see how we deal with our ups and downs. We are all in this together and we need to support one another. You have to make the decision which one is better for you. I would highly recommend the lap band!! Take Care Diana

Hi I just saw the dietician to have my metabolic rate calculated. You know how many calories you should eat to lose weight. I asked her what a "good weight for me would be. I am 5'8 and 176. I had been as high as 260. She said 150 to 155. Imagine my surprise!! I know through weight watchers you have a broad range 140 to 170. So I thought maybe she was going to say 165. All this coming from a super skinny gal. I work out and feel great. My blood pressure and chlolesteral are great too. Don't they take that into account. I would like to consult a PS as I would to do something about my "apron".Does anyone have any similiar measurements, weights. etc.??? Thanks:help:

Hi I am in a size 10 jean. I am just trying to be healthy and happy. I really think 160 to 170 will be fine. I am hoping if I have a tummy tuck it will help. I am muscular (even when I was fat I was active).. I just know the general public has bought into the size 0 celebrities and that is not me. During our support meeting last night I addressed the issue of the # the dietician gave to strive for (150-155). Guess what she backed off. Don't get me wrong she is really nice but in my opinion I wouldn't want to be as thin as her, that's her choice I don't want to lose all of my curves. I guess it just made me feel bad. You know how sensitive us chubby people are. Oh yeah I am no longer chubby. Anyway that is why I posted I figuered there has got to some other similiar body types out there and I was wondering what their Drs. or Dieticians said to them. Thank You For letting me vent!!

HI Just wanted to let everyone to know I appreciate the replies. I have no intention to give up. I just do not want to get " stuck" on a #. I run 3 miles 4x week and bike 20 miles 3x per week. I have always been active. I had a huge appetite. I am in a size 10 slacks. I work @ Curves. I just think everything has to be taken into account. I did this for my health, not to be be "slender". Personally I am amazed at how many people have this surgery and do no exercise. Thank You

Hi She told me 1050 to lose a pound a week and 1320 to lose a half pound a week. I choose 1320. Thanks

HI Goldthimble Dr. Cynthia Pacuilli did my surgery. I have been very fortunate as I have not had any problems. I make sure everything is cut into extremely small bites (it makes you look like you have a whole bunch!) and I make sure I chew slowly. I can't say enough good things about how the band has helped me. I had always been active but my appetite was out of control, I felt a lot like that lady on the commercial with the lion. I have had only one bad experience it was when I didn't chew a piece of bagel good enough and boy did I feel it working it's way down. It did hurt, that was the first and last time that will happen. I was preoccupid and was not thinking. Some people have problems with different foods. I have not (too bad). I can eat anything. Thats what is great about the band You can still have a favorite food but just a lot less of it. I like the fact that it comes off slower because it forces you to evaulate what your contemplating eating and makes you look at the behavorial aspect of it all. I do work out. I think, no I know that it it very important to exercise. It amazes me how many people have had any weight loss surgery and don't exercise. I mean this is the last resort, why wouldn't people try??? You don't have to go crazy plus because we are overweight we are prone to depression and exercise gets you going and makes you feel better. Anyway I know I am rambling. I hope everthing goes well with your appointment. My insurance denied me the first time but gave me a hint and told me to have my PCP call the insurance doctor and plead my case. He did and he got them to change their mind. I was 100lbs. overweight with high cholesteral, I had pancreatis which could cast me my life and I have heart disease in my family. OH BOY!! Great Family Genes. I grew up off of milville st. on irving st. Then my parents moved to teague dr. in north salem. Atkinson is nice. Salem has gotten CRAZY 28 looks like the Las Vegas Strip!! Talk to you later. Wish you the best Diana

Hi I am also from Salem NH. I grew up there and now live in Wakefield NH. I had the band "installed" on October 4, 2006. I have lost 58 lbs. I feel great. So much more energy. I can't say enough good things about this procedure. Hope all is well with everyone!! Diana:clap2:
