Just had gastric bypass
cranialmalady replied to Silmar's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had mine on the 12th and haven't had any actual hunger. I want to eat, but I think it's just a head thing....mentally missing food as opposed to actual hunger, for me anyways. I hope it gets better for you...keep drinking. It helps -
Anyone with large legs or Lymphedema
cranialmalady replied to padlrd's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm an RN in wound care and hyperbarics. I have had a few of my patients with lymphedema that have gone through weight loss surgery. They did very well. Unfortunately the only good treatment for the lymphedema itself is compression....be it compression wraps, compression hose, or a lymphedema pump. I hope that helps some -

Being young helps with the skin sagging....there will be some excess skin, but like chatmom said, that's much healthier than excess fat. Make sure you stay active after surgery and when you get the all clear from your doctor start doing some training with light weights. I think the closer you get to your surgery date the more excited you will be for it. Yay for you! -

One week post op today and I've been doing great. Today I have the headache from hell. I rarely get headaches and this is kicking my butt. I'm still on clear liquids. Anyone else having headaches? -
Let us know how you're doing. Thinking about you today and hoping all went well.

home from surgery

So far I have been, but it may get more difficult when I start adding Protein later this week. I hiked a mile at a slow pace yesterday and took my water with me and sipped and walked. -
home from surgery

I had surgery on the 12th of March, so 6 days ago. I'm just now losing my weight I gained from all the IV fluids they give you in the hospital. Highest weight was 228 day of surgery was 214 current weight is 211. Pain is pretty minimal and only on the left side now. I'm not taking any pain meds at all since Friday night. Water tastes pretty normal, but to keep myself interested I do some broth, sugar free flavored drinks, Jello etc.. I will be thrilled when Thursday gets here and I can start on pudding and soft foods. Hope that helps -

I just sip water pretty much all day. I have a big refillable bottle and I know by the end of the day I need to drink 2 of them. I'm 6 days out also, but my doctor hasn't started any protein shakes yet....I'm sure that is going to make it more difficult. Make sure you are using shakes with the most protein you can get. -
You are going to do great. I was exactly where you are one week ago. I had mine last Tuesday. I only slept a bit the night before thanks to Ambien...I had some trouble sleeping because I was so hungry....And nervous. Just think, in one week it will be behind you and you will feel so much better. Best of luck to you on Tuesday. It's normal to be scared and nervous. If you have any good sleeping pills I would take one Monday night.

Ha! I shaved mine. I knew I wouldn't be able to for a few days and that drives me nuts.

Day 3 post-op weenie.
cranialmalady replied to cranialmalady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It so glad to know I'm not the only one that's felt insane. I think 10 days of Clear liquids is starting to mentally challenge me. I'm shocked that the body can go so long with almost zero calories. -
It finally happened. I cried. I keep telling myself no regrets...no regrets....but dang it sometimes a girl just wants to be able to eat fried chicken and fart. Ughh...sorry about that visual. I suppose this horrendous left sided belly pain will be around a few more days. Any advice getting through "hell week"? I think the lortab elixir is making me cranky and stabby. I'm so annoyed with myself, I can't even imagine how my poor family feels.
