2nd Stage Diet (Puree): What do you eat?

I do the canned fat free refried Beans and thin them with fat free chicken broth. I will eat it with a sprinkle of fat free cheese, some mild salsa and about a 6th of an avocado. It's my favorite meal so far. The chicken Vienna sausages I eat 2 at a time. The rest I seal in a bag and put in the fridge. They go down easily, but it's not my favorite. I'll probably not eat those once I can move on to healthier Proteins. It's got too much sodium.
  2. I cut it into cubes and let it sit in teriyaki sauce for 20 minutes or so then toss it in a non stick pan with a spritz of non stick cooking spray. Sometimes I toss it in and scramble it with egg whites. The teriyaki version goes great with a cup of egg drop soup and its lots of protein.
  3. I was using lactose free milk before as well, but apparently from what the nutritionist told me you can be lactose intolerant to whey protein itself....so if your shake has whey protein you may want to try switching to a soy protein isolate.
  4. I can get it in fine most days. I average between 55 and 60 grams a day, but that's literally eating nothing extra. The Dannon light and fit Greek yogurts are like 12 grams so I have one of those a day. I eat a lot of tofu and protein pudding also. I don't know when I'll be able to try some veggies or fruit. I think I could tolerate it fine, but I get full pretty easily. My doc says to always eat protein first and no snacking between meals so I only eat 3 times a day.

2nd Stage Diet (Puree): What do you eat?

I did this protein mousse with 8 oz light soy milk, small package of sugar free pudding, 2 servings of protein powder and some fat free whip cream. Blend the heck out of it and refrigerate it. It makes 4 servings and really helps me get my protein in. Other than that I've been doing lots of refried beans, soups, Greek yogurt....my doctor doesn't do a puréed stage. We just have to chew really well so I've been doing some fish and soft meats. I have a couple of reduced fat chicken Vienna sausages for breakfast. They are easy to mush up and so far so good with them.
  6. I can drink all of mine just fine...generally it only takes me about 10 minutes. I'm almost 3 weeks post op. I use light soy milk and a soy protein isolate powder. I found I was lactose intolerant with any of the whey proteins. I wonder if you may be experiencing some lactose intolerance too.
  7. Good for you! I'm almost 3 weeks post op now and starting to venture out with my protein choices. I can still only eat proteins....just because there's not enough room for much else. My life pretty much revolves around protein and water right now.

    What ya eating tonight?

Tonight my family wanted to eat out at a Chinese restaurant. It was my first time eating out since surgery. I had a cup of seafood soup and it was great. It was basically egg drop soup with little bits of fish and other sea critters tossed in.
  9. I thought maybe ale juice was some type of beer and I was jealous for a second Keep hanging in there. I hope it all resolves soon. Your positive attitude is inspiring.
  10. If they gave you vitamins in the hospital then the black poop thing is likely the iron from the vitamins.
  11. Where are you from? I had my surgery done in San Antonio. I sure hope you are feeling better soon and that this will just be a stepping stone to get you there. We are all certainly thinking about you and pulling for you.
  12. Janel, if you aren't keeping fluids down you're going to get dehydrated really fast. Does your doctor know you're sick? Maybe you need one IV fluids. Have you tried ice chips?
  13. My surgery was 3/12. I'm feeling pretty close to normal. I actually jogged a little yesterday....I'm sure my surgeon would be horrified
  14. Very exciting Rena! Best of luck to you tomorrow. Keep us posted and we will certainly be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way.
  15. Nice work guys! It's uplifting to read everyone's progress and weight loss so far. Our March group kicks some serious ass!
  16. Ok guys....I haven't been having any major issues getting water and protein in so obviously I'm starting to feel like a weirdo or that something is wrong with me. I'm about 12 days post op and feel pretty good. No hunger whatsoever either. I keep reading on the threads how everyone's struggling to get water and protein and feeling weak. I know it seems insane to worry about doing too well, but I'm starting to think the surgeon tricked me

    March Surgery Dates

Good for you Laurie! It is exciting and nerve wracking, but it will all fly by and you're going to be up and feeling great in no time. Keep us posted on your progress. Best of luck to you on Monday
  20. That's what happened with me. I was mixing it with soy milk, but apparently you can be lactose intolerant with the whey proteins. I had to switch to a soy protein isolate powder. No more diarrhea.
