  1. I was able to walk for 25 minutes yesterday before feeling faint and had to walk home. I was only about 5 minutes from my house. Prior to surgery I would walk my whole neighborhood at a quick pace and it would take 45mins. Yesterday it was slow moving. I want so bad to be able to work out normally to boost weight loss, but I'm not there yet.

    Straws

I had the lap band for two years prior to my revision a week ago to rny so I am already used to not using straws from that because it would cause pain with the band. Its not that big of a lifestyle change to just not use a straw.

    Straws

I was told not to because the air gets trapped in the stoma between your stomach and small intestine. They said over time, the air will stretch that out and will cause less and less restriction and eventual weight regain.

    Lap band scar tissue?

    Mine was also laparoscopic.
  7. Try not to weigh so often. Also a lot of people hit a stall on week two or three.
  8. I'm still on liquids and last night warmed up about a cup and a half of broth and I don't know if I drank it too quick or what, but I drank half and felt full like I overstuffed myself at a buffet.
  9. It sounds like possible lactose intolerance from what I have read about lactose intolerance.

    Lap band scar tissue?

I just had band to bypass six days ago. My doctor took four hours for the surgery instead of the hour and a half it was supposed to take. Partly because of having to rerepair a hiatal hernia, but he also said I had a lot more scar tissue than I should have and had a very difficult time getting my band out, but he went through with the rny and has not mentioned anything about having to make my pouch any bigger.

    why eat junk

How far post op are you? I'm only six days and am craving my coping food very badly. .. pizza. I feel if you completely deprive yourself you will end up blowing it down the line. Like the guy from the Richard Simmons program that lost like two hundred pounds. He would not budge an inch on what he ate until one day he eventually had one hot dog then quickly gained it all back. We use the wls as a tool to get where we need to get, but eventually your pouch will stretch some and so you need to learn moderation allong the way. I think everything in moderation for maintenance is a good way to go about this in the long run. Temptation is everywhere for us. There are not commercials every few minutes for drugs. Also, someone addicted to cocaine can avoid the scene altogether. You are right you cannot tell a cocaine addict to just cope by smoking weed every day for their high and expect them to never do cocaine again. That is what we deal with in food addiction. We have to eat, but some foods are not good for us. It's like smoking weed when you want cocaine. Its very hard and I cried over pizza just during my pre op diet.
  12. I feel so much better today and it's awesome! Gas pain is gone. I just have some soreness at my incisions.

Lol. I had a lot more pain after the band. The only pain I'm having is really swelling and gas pain. With the band, my actual stomach hurt. I had horrible pain with drinking even tiny sips of clear liquid would make me scream out from chest pain. The bypass has been a breeze in comparison to the surgery to get the band.

Reflux is gone so far. I'm able to drink water in the morning... with the band I would throw up anything including water before noon. I'm still only five days post op and on liquids only. I would have a better idea when I move to regular foods.... I had a lot of gas pain but I think I walked it off today at the mall. I had to sit a few times and burped a lot. My incisions are starting to itch. When I got the band, the cut a nerve causing my left leg to go numb. I think they cut it again, because they used most of the same incision sites. My leg feels more numb than before... As far as hunger. I'm not hungry but am having a lot of head hunger. I still want the foods, but am not physically hungry. With the band I was starving all the time so that is a big difference. Hope this helps!

  19. Thanks up my husband I passed a little gas twice today. I laid on my stomach for thirty minutes while he did light karate chops on my back till I tooted twice. I still have a lot of gas pain and haven't passed any on my own but every little bit counts.
