Anyone from nashville? I will be having my surgery there

Thank You. I hope to get a date soon. I am so worried about the pre op diet though. What if I cant stick with it? I have no control over food, that is why i am in the shape I am in now. I wonder if I mess up the pre op diet if they will still do the surgery. I just wonder what kind of diet I will be on. I have seen so many post about the pre op diet and so many of them are so very different. I am hoping I can do a couple of protein shakes a day and a small meal. I believe I could stick with that. I just hope it is not the all liquid diet.

Hi everyone. I just joined MFP. I have my psyc eval this week. After that I will be waiting to see if insurance approves me. So far everything has gone pretty good. May sound crazy but I already have my bag packed. Lol so ready for this. I have read a lot of post on what to bring to hospital. A LOT of them say do not over pack. Here is what I am taking. Cell phone and charger, chapstick, hair tie, 2 pair of undies, 1 comfy shirt, 1 pair soft joggers, hairbrush, toothbrush and little toothpaste, deodorant. I was going to bring house shoes but they said the nurse will give you some non slick socks. I am also going to bring some chewable gasx. Just in case. I heard gas pain is awful. I will ask nurse of course before I take it.oh ya.. a pillow!! I heard this is a must have.

we are about at the same stages. I also have my psyc eval next week and a support group to attend. I am hoping to get my surgery april or may, hopefully april. I am so excited and nervous too!

Hi all, my name is stephanie and i am 34 living in tn. I have gone to my seminar, met with my pcp so he could fill out all the necessary paperwork and i have my psyc evaluaton and pre op support group meet next week. After all that i will wait to see if i am approved for the surgery. Good thing is i dont hav to do the six month diet for insurance. I hav been keeping a journal last six months and doc said that will work. I am so ready for this!! If everything goes good (insurance wise) i should b scheduled for surgery april or may. I would love to chat and be support to u also.

How long do i stay on the pre op diet before surgery? And what does the diet consist of?

Down 30 pounds is great! No, i dont think you will have any trouble with your insurance. This just shows how much you really want the surgery and that you are ready to get healthy. Good luck to you and way to go on the 30 pound loss!!

Thanks ladies for the info..I am just sceared i will not b able to do it..i have no self control over food! If i did i probably wouldnt b in the shape i am in now..i hav done my seminar and got the book but it says nothing in there about the pre op diet.. I hav all my paper work in and i was approved yepieee all i hav to do now is my psyc evaluation in one week and go to my pcp for him to fill out some paper work and one support group meet, then they will giv me my date for surgery

I made me psyc evaluation app today..they said it would take 3 hours! What!! what do they do for 3 hrs? Anyone know? Please let me know

Oh, and i am sticking with the gastric bypass. Not because it is better but because it is better for me. all surgies look great, but it is what you think will be good for you.

Thank you all so much for letting me know..feel much better now just got done with the seminar. And i was approved for surgery thru my insurance.. Woohoo! I am so ready for this. I have though and prayed a long time about this very difficult decision. I know ot is the right way. I will keep you all posted. I still hav to go to my reg family doc so he can fill out some papers and i hav to do the psyc evaluation... Getting closer and closer!!

Very hard decision. None of my family or friends are with me on this. I feel the gastric bypass is the way to go but i will discuss that more with the doc when i go see him. I will let you all know when i am scheduled for the operation. I know i will want to know how you all did on your pre op diet..
