Needed some inspiration this morning so I decided to take a photo and put it side by side with my 2 week post op photo. Today I am a little over four months out. -

I was 4 months post op on the 19th of this month. I have lost a total of 87 lbs, 60 since surgery. I was hospitalized last month with a large ulcer but still would not change a thing. I went to my 20th high school reunion last weekend and was so proud of how I looked. I too hope I can stay this way forever. 40 lbs to goal! -

6 weeks post op on Tues, right upper abdominal pain
nhnurse1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For the past 24 hours I have been having the dull aching pain in the right upper quadrant of my abdomen just underneath my ribcage. It is a nagging pain that seems to come on a couple hours or so after eating. I called the surgeon on call and he told me to do liquids or pureed foods for the next 24 hours to see how it goes. I do not have a gallbladder it was removed long ago. Has anyone had anything similar to this happen, he suggested it could be a problem with the opening in my pouch? Any thoughts? -

My surgeon didn't think much about it but at 12 weeks post op, I ended up in the hospital with a very large ulcer. -

I am going to my 20th ha reunion tonight! Although I am still about 50 lbs heavier than I was in hs, I am still much more confident in this body than in one that weighed 86 lbs more just months ago. It really is such a great feeling, be proud girl!! -

Had a good week! Except for being a little tired, I am feeling great after my week in the hospital with a marginal ulcer. Back to work half time HW:267 DOS:240 LW:188 Current:184 -
This may sound strange to you but, I have to know if I am the only one. For the last month or so, when I am driving, doing floor aerobics or sitting in certain positions it feels like I am sitting on my tailbone, almost like it is in the way. I notice it the most when doing floor exercises in aerobics when I am rocking my back up and down. It almost feels like there is something sticking out that shouldn't be there. Does anyone else have this sensation? Is it just because I am so used to having so much padding back there? Any ideas?

Feeling a little better this week although I do still have pain after eating despite the carafate and nexxium. I am doing better getting calories, Protein, and Fluid in. Down 4 lbs this week for a total of 80 lbs lost! Everyone say a prayer that this ulcer goes away and I don't need surgery!! HW: 267 SW:240 LW:191 Current: 187 -
This makes me feel better, I was mentioning it to my husband and he was thinking it was something I needed to get looked at. LOL, It is now apparent it's just because a lot of my padding has disappeared!

Thanks everyone. Aside from my setback last week (being in the hospital with a large bleeding ulcer), I am feeling wonderful. I need to wait a couple more weeks until I can get more calories in before I start exercising heavily like I was before. It is really a bummer because I feel like I am losing so much muscle but, I am sure it will be better in the long run. Us Marchies are all doing so well!!! -

Friday Weigh-In!

I asked my surgeon this many times as I had pre-cancerous erosions in my esophagus from reflux prior to surgery. He told me that it was one of the rarest but most stubborn post-op complications. He said that some people still have significant acid production that can reflux up through the Y and cause an ulcer at the point of the anastamosis between the pouch and the small intestines. Risk factors that can increase this are alcohol, smoking, NSAIDS or eating inappropriate foods all of which I had none of. It seems as if it boiled down to bad luck for me. I am still pretty weak and seem to have a great deal of pain after eating but I am hoping for more strength each day. My physician told me that 90% of them disappear on their own and only about 10% need surgical intervention. I am praying that I am in the 90%. I will keep you all informed. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and prayers. -

Well guys I am still in the hospital. I started having bloody diarrhea last night. I'm r really bummed. Not sure yet what the plan is. -
Really thought I was going to be able to go home today but I started having bloody diarrhea last night. So bummed I already missed my sins kindergarten graduation and will probably miss my daughter's junior high grad tomorrow.

It started with a nagging pain almost like I ate too fast. The pain for substantially worse over a few hours and wrapped around to my back. I started vomiting and got excruciating pain whenever I tried to eat or drink.

Yes I do!

So, I got admitted about 24 hours ago. I was diagnosed with a very large marginal ulcer. Anyone have any experience with this? I am feeling a little better today but wow the pain and vomiting were terrible. Any input would be great. So bummed to be back here.
