Hello, I am 37 and have similar weight loss goals. I just had roux N Y three days ago and I am sore but doing well. Just started full liquids and I am already down three pounds from my pre-op weight. Don't give up. Your surgeon should go to bat for you as well. Mine specifically told me he would speak with my insurance company if they did not approve my surgery. Keep fighting!!

That seems odd to me too, that you have a g tube. I wonder why your surgeon does that? -
Walmart Whey Protein Shots
nhnurse1 replied to TxDumplin's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
My nutritionist said to STAY AWAY from those protein shots. The protein they contain is junk. I think Isopure is probably your best bet. They have all kinds of great flavors. -
I am from central NH.

My surgeon told me that women who have issues with infertility often get pregnant very easily after surgery. I am a labor and delivery nurse and have had patients that have had this happen to them as well.

March 2013 Post Op "A New Life 2013"

Finally home in my own bed. Just passed gas for the first time and I am hoping there is much more where that came from. I am still sore but feeling a lot better than yesterday. I had to do 30cc of liquid every 15 min and then I switch to fill liquid tomorrow. I can't tell you that I havent been hungry but I haven't really felt full either. Looking forward to shedding these pounds. -

March 2013 Post Op "A New Life 2013"

Hello everyone. I am 48 hours post op and just started my clear liquid diet an hour ago. So far do good. I feel so much better today. Yesterday was rough. I just felt like I couldn't wake up and couldn't get into a comfortable position. I'm praying the surgeon sends me home today. I need my own bed. My poor roommate had the same procedure and is not doing as well. It has been hard to sleep because of the nurses coming in and out. -
Thinking of you. I am hoping to go home today too. No vomiting just a little nausea. The doc is starting me on clears today. I can wait to drink something besides water. Lucky you for being able to take a shower I can't wait!

It was Tuesday the 19th. I was so uncomfortable and couldn't keep my eyes open. Today I am so much better.

Sorry I didn't check in with everyone yesterday. I had a rough day. I am feeling so much better tonight and I am so proud to be on the losers bench. Swallow test was good and hopefully I will be heading home tomorrow. I pray that all of you are recovering nicely.

I am sitting here waiting for anesthesia to come and put my IV in. I am so nervous and ready to be done and out on the other side. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support.

Heading to the hospital in about three hours. Trying to get some last minute things packed up and ready, and finishing some laundry. I slept well last night with the help of my friend Ambien. We are getting a foot of snow today and I thin I am more anxious now about my husband having to drive me to the hospital in it. School for my kids has been cancelled and I hear the roads are pretty bad. I have been praying all morning for all of my surgery buddies today, those who have yet to have their procedure and those who are already on the losers bench, and for all of our surgeons. I will try to post something tonight if I am feeling up to it, bringing my iphone, kindle fire, and laptop so I am sure I can get one fired up enough to let you know how I am doing. Sending love and prayers to all! Blaq_Butterfly: 3/19! tbaby: 3/19! ljinksky: 3/19! sne1709: 3/19!!

That means you will be done by the time I go in. I am praying for all of my surgery buddies tomorrow! I am so excited, filled with anxiety and nervous about my day tomorrow, oh and I should say STARVING!! The crystal light just isn't doing it anymore

Thinking of you this morning and hoping you have a good day and will be ready to come off that oxygen. A little over 48 hours for me until surgery. I am so nervous and excited at the same time.

I will be thinking of you Yvette. I can't wait to hear how it went for you!

Thank you for your kind words. I am so nervous and excited at the same time. What did all of you bring to the hospital? Anything you would recommend?

My surgery is also Tuesday. I am so bummed because they just called and told me that the other patient my doctor has scheduled for that day is diabetic and needs to be done before me so now my surgery is not until 1230 BOOOO!!!! Being NPO that long is really going to stink!

So, with my surgery a week away I want to start preparing. For all of our March buddies who have already been through surgery, are there things that you would recommend us bringing to the hospital? I want to be prepared but, I don't want to bring half of my closet either, any ideas?

Fingers/toes and everything else crossed!!

Hello everyone I had my pre-op appointment today. I am down below my required pre-surgery weight and I am getting so nervous about surgery. It is only a week away. My kids said I have been grumpy and it is because of my pre-op diet, lol. I am thinking about each and every one of you and wishing you all a speedy recovery.

Hello to all of my March surgery buddies. I have been so inspired reading all of your posts. I have a little over a week left before my surgery (March 19th) and I am excited and extremely nervous at the same time. I have gotten used to my pre-op diet and I have lost another 5 lbs in the past week. I am grateful that my physician allows me to have more than just liquids during this time. I had some headaches for the first few days but I am getting better everyday. I really miss my morning cup of coffee though I have my pre-op appointment on Monday and I think that it may become even more "real" for me then. I can't wait to hear from some of our March buddies that have already had surgery. I pray for them everyday.

Sorry I am just learning how to use this site. Yes! I am a nurse too and I am so excited to have a surgery day buddy. Please keep in touch. It will be nice to know that someone will be just as excited and nervous as I am on that day. So glad to have met you! Heather
