Got the munchies!
Gibbys Goddess replied to XXLnomore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm super stressed these days-a new job with a major move-and I am a starving Marvin! I'm sure it's the stress-increased adrenaline & cortisol, etc. I'm happy that I at least have increased my eating with healthy snacks & not a morsel of junk. -
Cheese sticks, turkey bacon, hard boiled eggs, yogurt w/protein powder mixed in.

I like the Special K protein & some of the kashi flavors. I eat Kashi a few times a week cause it seems to keep me full the longest of any breakfast type food. For me, I'm mindful of carbs but am not neurotic about them, but only do whole grains. I've lost 80 pounds at 6 months. I also eat one serving of fresh fruit a day, and have a 2nd snack of either cut up fresh tomatoes or a third of a red bell pepper every day, all,of which are carbs. I stick with hi nutrient value carbs, and for me, none of them have been a gateway. Plus, the Kashi, fruit & veggies help with the all important fiber intake!

How about some NSVs!?!?
Gibbys Goddess replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought a size 18 petite business suit, with a fitted jacket, and I can button the jacket!! Down from a size 28, at which size I wore unfitted boxy jackets. -
Diarrhea after Surgery
Gibbys Goddess replied to katie206's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had relentless completely liquid diarrhea 8-12 times a day for almost 6 weeks. It was awful, thought my life was over cause I couldn't be far from a bathroom. I was also very weak from so much diarrhea-although the weight really fell off me in those days!! Not c-diff. Everyone tests for it, but c-diff is not an everyday occurrence. My diarrhea did not improve till I started using benefiber, several teaspoons a day. I'm finally OK now, sometimes even go a few days w/o a BM! I am very careful to take in lots of fiber & don't need the benefiber anymore, but it was a life saver. -
Question about neuropothy
Gibbys Goddess replied to Tammy wright's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have neuropathy in a few different limbs due to multiple sclerosis. No, it has not gone away or gotten better but I knew the RNY would not cure the MS. That's OK cause I'm still overall way better than I was pre-op!! -
Friday Weigh-In!
Gibbys Goddess replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HW 296 SW 282 3/11/13 CW 211, last week 213. I'd live to lose more than 2 pounds/week, but I'll take the slow steady! -

March 2013 Post Op "A New Life 2013"
Gibbys Goddess replied to ElleG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to know I'm not the only one. It is discouraging because I'm eating right, although it is sometimes a struggle to get in 800 calories), getting my protein & water in. And I'm exercising religiously for the first time in decades! -

I am also on the slow but steady path so you're not alone. I get discouraged & obsess over the scale, but just keep eating right, exercising & weight lifting. We'll get there!! Luckily, although I do get hungry, the thought of most "junk" food makes me gag. -
Protein shakes..
Gibbys Goddess replied to pookybear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And the Unjury unflavored can be added to anything (not boiling hot stuff), like yogurt, tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad, and any liquid. I put it in my decaf iced coffee a lot. It dissolves completely & has no flavor. Yesterday I mixed it in a little homemade guacamole. -
I am 17 weeks out from RNY today. I've lost 65 pounds, my goal is to lose 132, maybe a bit more. I'm worried though, because for the second half of the 17 weeks I'm only losing a pound or two a week. Some weeks nothing. At this rate I won't lose what I need to lose during my malabsorption window. I get about 800 cals/day, all my protein & water. I religiously track my food & exercise, don't cheat at all, although I do have some whole grain carbs daily, so I'm not carb free. I do cardio 4-6 X a week & do weights every other gym visit. I was a complete couch potato PRE op (in my defense I have MS which makes me very tired & morbid obesity did not help), so I know I'm building lean muscle which weighs heavier. I guess I'm just discouraged & making myself insane. My intellectual brain knows that I've gone from a size 28 to an 18-20 in 17 weeks but it's been another week with nothing lost. So discouraging!! Am I crazy & I should just shut up & be grateful?

OK. I'm going to try & not weigh tomorrow morning. Not sure I can quite put it in the closet yet. Thanks for the sane words everyone! -
One week out and not feeling well!
Gibbys Goddess replied to shawneey41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was the same way at a week out. But you really have to make sure to stay hydrated. Remember that protein shakes count toward your liquid goal. Hang in-it gets better. -

Does anyone else have a drippy nose?
Gibbys Goddess replied to doingit4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still have the runny nose problem 17 weeks out, but the unbelievable stomach noises have mostly gone away. -
Hmm how much have you lost
Gibbys Goddess replied to kmarcelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OP-I empathize with your anxiety. My RNY was March 11, 2013, and I am down 61 pounds. BUT, in the past 6 weeks I've only lost 1-3 pounds a week. It is not melting off. But, I feel better due to all the e excise I am now able to do, and my size clothing size is moving down at a steady pace because I am exercising. So try to stay positive. It will come off at your own pace. Just keep eating right, try to exercise. It is really hard but try not to worry about others are losing and don't obsess over the scale. I struggle with that advice on a daily basis! -
Protein bar recommendations?
Gibbys Goddess replied to doingit4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm afraid to try Zone bars. I'm concerned that 15 g of sugar will cause me to dump. I'm carefulemtomstay in the 3-5 sugars per 100 cal range. It severely limits my protein bar choices! -
Thanks Dorian. I guess I'm a bit bummed because I only lost 10 pounds in month 3. Now, 10 pounds a month is far more than I would have been able to do without the surgery, it just means that I will be close to 18 months before I. Near goal, and, of course, the weight loss pace tapers off over time, which will just slow me down ore eventually. But I'm very happy I had the surgery!
