What surprised you?
ArmyOfMe replied to AutumnPunkin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How hard it was just trying to drink one small cup of water. Forget food, that was just plain aggravating. Quite the shock from being a gourmand to not being able to tolerate the basics to survive. -
how do you know if something didn't digest?

Corn. We don't have the enzymes to break it down so it comes out in the same shape it went in. =)) -
I started logging my food intake. It was about that time. Now to figure out how the heck to edit serving sizes in MFP from the default options to the actual size I eat. Anybody know the secret?

Didn't notice the look yet as most of the times I tend to be ice cold (it's my nature) but honestly I would not care a bit. These resources are out there for the rest of our kind. I highly doubt WLS is not on a overweight persons mind by now, they just have to find it in themselves to decide if that's what they want in order to become healthy. But ... I do get what your saying and I think your heart is in the right place. Enjoy your healthy self and be proud of the wise choice you made to get you where you are at today --- a healthy happy beautiful woman.

What ya eating tonight?

Homemade Baba Ganoush. Delicious on FlatOut FlatBread. -
Unless I have absolutely no other choice than my to go fast food would be off that special list DL sent everybody. I go for grilled chicken (forget the bread, no good), fruit cup, Wendy's chili, grilled chicken salad (lettuce usually ends up in the trash), chicken soups (I ask for extra broth and less noodles), oatmeal cup, apple slices (BK), deli wraps, chicken wraps. You know, whatever is safe and doesn't scream loaded in fat or dumping time.

Yes. It's all due to the massive hormonal changes.

Happy Birthday! Pshhh ... You are not old, you are wise. Remember that! -
I am almost 4 months out and have not had lab work done. I recently switched surgeons due to moving states and I am getting my first lab work this week. If you need reassurance that all is going well with your WLS, than call them and demand lab work done. You are paying them to keep you healthy and updated on your progress. It's your prerogative.

Husband made grilled chicken with mushrooms and red bell peppers. He got a pet on the head for being extra nice today. =)) -
Dilated would mean that you would be able to consume foods without pain and regurgitation. Do you feel you might have a stricture? If so yes, you need your pouch dilated. Call your surgeon's office and ask to be scheduled for an EGD.

Yes, there is a seed of truth in this. Hormones go crazy after WLS as you lose the extra weight. Some turn depressed, others bitchy, angry, withdrawn, or you have that crowd of people where they get hit by an energy burst and they could take over the world ( insert joke). Also, sex life suffers. Some feel their sex appetite increases while others lose their interest. I call it the luck of the straw.

I can sympathize. My baby fever is bad. Seeing how much joy my baby is bringing me, makes me want another three now. Buuuuut, no can do. I absolutely refuse to get pregnant for the first year and a half post-op. My surgeon gave me one year to adjust and heal from WLS, I voluntarily prolonged it to one year and a half. Being pregnant is ALL about the baby and his/her healthy development in the uterus. I am solely responsible to keep that baby alive and 100% healthy. Please, wAit. Focus on yourself and getting adjusted to your new lifestyle. It will not be easy. Give yourself time to heal and get used to your new nutrition.

You mean dilated due to a stricture or back in surgery to make the pouch larger in volume?

You'll be amazed how massive weight loss will transform your body shape. You'll start noticing bones where you had no idea you had them, your face will shape up and you'll also start noticing your neckline, your posture will straighten up rather than hunch backed. Don't believe those around you, who spew negative comments. They have absolutely no idea. You know your body better than anybody else. Trust it to lead you to success.

Today was roasted chicken risotto day. Had a bit of Cupcake Moscato, as well. Small and highly satisfying. -

What do you do in hospital post-op?
ArmyOfMe replied to meyouus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my case, I was in the hospital for only 24 hours since I had no complications. I was given a pain pump. I hit that button as needed. Home I went with liquid Lortab (liquid heaven) and was given 3 refills. Again, I took it as needed. I was in a lot of pain and first thing I told myself was: screw pain, I'm no martyr to deal with it. I needed all the rest I could get after such major invasive surgery. -

PF Chang garlic chicken. Loved it! -
Yes, it is a fact. My surgeon stated in his introduction seminar that, there is an 80% chance of fertility increase after WLS reason why we females are put on BC immediately. There are plenty ladies/moms here who can confirm it based on their personal experience.

One way to ease his fears would be to start leaving him love notes everywhere, like the kitchen table, the fridge, living room, bathrooms mirror and of course, save the naughty ones for the bedroom. Text him during the night even if he is asleep. Remind him how much you miss him and wish you'd be cuddling with him. Who doesn't like waking up to a sweet text from their loved one. Leave on the fridge a schedule of couples activities for when your work schedule normalizes and you finally get to spend time together. It will give him something to look forward to and refocus his mind on.
