Fabulous February Post-Op's

I'm only at 35 lbs lost overall, but not worried about a 6 month marker. We'll all get there - some of us may just be slower about it! Don't give up! -

Fabulous February Post-Op's
RonV0804 replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all! This is my first posting on this thread - I had my surgery on February 11, so going into my 6th week post-op. The first few weeks were TOUGH, and since I have kidney issues anyway, it was very dicey for me to just eat Protein. My dr only required two weeks of Clear liquids, two weeks of soft food, then I'm on anything I want to eat. It started using the "my fitness pal" app, and though it's been hard to remember to track everything I eat every day, it's been really helpful. I've been walking, but really need to kick up my exercise to see some more results and to tone those really flabby parts! I started at 299, and am down to 270 as of this morning (whoo-hoo!) I've got so much more to lose, but so glad I've started this journey, as we all have! It's great knowing there's such a supportive group out there. BTW, I still take have to take the protonix, but take the dissolvable one, so no pill to swallow! -
Finally made the decision and now I'm petrified

Hi Veritas! Like you, I wanted to lap band, but had some reservations. I started this journey last year. My doctor told me it was my decision, but... he did tell me how many revision surgeries he's done in the past two or so years - these are patients who had the band, and ended up - for various reasons - getting the RNY surgery. I didn't want to end up having two separate surgeries, especially since he's old school and said I'd have to wait another 6-9months and go through the whole insurance drama again if I needed to get the second surgery. I researched the RNY to the ground and decided to go through with it. I'm only 2 weeks post-op and feeling pretty good so far! I'd say get a second opinion if it would make you feel comfortable with whatever choice you end up making. We all know it's a long road to get us even to contemplate and to go through with surgery, so I wish you the best!
