  1. So glad to hear you were finally approved. I will probably have to pay on my own. The insurance gave an authorization number but in a 3 font it said. "This authorization does not guarantee payment." My surgery is this Thursday the 22nd. I am very excited and a little apprehensive which is normal, I suppose. I too believe this is a personal journey and I have shared with my husband, my boss and a few close friends.Ii work for a big company and in my department weight is a determant to promotions. Its not written but i'ts obvious. I love my job though and would not change it. I started gaining weight at 40 and now I am 53 and 250. I just want to say all the best to you and your journey and I will look forward to keeping up with you here.

    August 22nd!

I am having surgery on the 22nd also. I am excited and a little nervous. I am on a veggie, salad and shake diet until saturday then I am full on shakes provided by the hospital. Can we all communicate with each other and see how we are doing? I wasnt obese all my life I am 53 and started gaining weight at 40. I had lap band in 2009, lost 75 pounds then it slipped and I had it removed last summer. So this has been a long journey. I gained all the weight back when they removed the band. I almost knew I would, I didnt even try, really. No one to blame but me. I did purchase a magic bullet and looking at some of the recipes in the book, they look very tastey. I live in Cincinnati and I would like to lose 100 pounds. How about you? So glad we found each other

    50's

I'm an oldster too! I turned 53 on the 4th of July. Surgery is 22nd August. I had th failed lapband removed last summer and now ready for step 2. I don't hane any health issues except the weight. No high blood pressure, diabetics or sleep apnea. Just fat. My insurance sent an authorization letter today but in the fine print (3 font) it said "authorization does not guarantee payment. I may be out over 20K. I'm worth it. That's what I say. Looking forward to getting to know all of you other seasoned ladies!

  14. Oh great! I am an avid reader and this will be right up my alley. I hope the books are available on Kinle or Ibooks. I am having RNY revision on 8/22 and have been researching everything I can get my hands on.

  16. All the best to you Adri. Keep us posted.
  17. I am having surgery on the 22 of Aug. My sugeon told me that becasue I had Lap Band removed removed last August, and because of the scar tissue involved, he may have to do a "hand assist". He explained that it would be a 2 and 1/2 inch incision. I'm not sure if that helps.

  23. I had the band in 2010 lost about 75 pounds dwen to 175. I had so many problems, acid reflux, heartburn, food would not stay down. I had the band removed because it broke the stiches and was at the top of the stomach. Also, the stomach prolapsed. I had sever anemia with no iron in stores. The removal was a year ago, I ahve been on ferrous sequal for the iron deficiency and I have gained all the weight back. I am 250. I will have RNY and Gallbaldder removed end of August. Have you or anyone you know had the rny and gall bladder removed at the same time? I am curious as to how long recovery will take and wahts in store. Thanks in advance for any input.
