    Fabulous February Post-Op's

Hi all! Almost to week 3 post- op this Tuesday - yay! Happy to report I'm healing very well after band to RNY 5 hour surgery then back to OR to stop internal bleeding at old port site - which was another 1 1/2 hr surgery. My dr said I'm doing great at the 2 wk post-op appt and advanced me from liquids to soft foods. No more blending! He said use my teeth to grind food, not the inversion blender! LOL! I've been one happy person since! A small Wendy's chili lasted me 4 days - threw it out before I could finish it. Weird! Also Chik-Fil-a small side of chicken salad is terrific! I have a lot of trouble drinking enough water though. Yesterday I think I had only 30oz. Need to do better but just not interested - appetite and thirst-wise. Anyway I forgot to ask my dr when it's ok to swallow cut pills. He said its ok for me to start chewable vitamins. I haven't done it yet but will start today. I'm off high blood pressure meds - yay! Since surgery but I take anti-anxiety med once a day. The liquid med is totally gag gross! I wanted to start cutting the pill and see if I can swallow them without upsetting my new tummy. Any ideas??

Band to RNY on 2/19. Was in OR for 5 hours then has to go back to stop interval bleeding found by my dr while I was in recovery. Took 3 days post op to pass gas. No BM yet. Only clear liquid diet until 2 week post op dr visit. Taking 1/2 dose oxycodone. Any idea when I should have BM? I've been passing gas just fine and have been taking gas-x.

Stupid narcotic pain meds!! Caused my BP to drop to 89/60. My surgeon said to go to Rex urgent care for bloodwork. Thankfully BP came up to 112/70 and labs were low but ok for after surgery. Rex urgent care dr was saying if labs were too low then I would have to go by ambulance to Rex for low BP problem. So I'm ok and we are getting liquid Tylenol now.

Did you have a lapband to RNY revision? Just wondering because I did on 2/19/13. Dr said there was a ton of scar tissue around my port and some of it had to be left. In recovery I had developed bleeding under the port. Had to go back to OR to stop bleeding. Since then recovery has been good. I'm thinking of you. Keep us posted and good luck!

Hi Fab Febs! Band removal to RNY and hiatal hernia repaired 2/19/13. Surgery was 5 hours. Lots of scar tissue at port site. In Recovery, my doc discovered a big and fast growing hematoma. Back to the OR to stop bleeding. After another 2 hour surgery, I was done. Got toy room 11 hours after I went in to first OR. Hubby was very scared. 3 drains. very happy to have them out. painful diaphram spasms before they came out. I went home today!! Breathing exercises, walking, drinking fluids. Nice to be home! Passed gas for first time after surgery a few minutes ago! Progressing nicely!! Let the journey begin!!!

I'm going to Rex tomorrow but no one said anything about a robot! When did you hear about the robot? Before surgery or when you got to Rex?

    NEED HELP

Try Ketogenx high Protein powder. It has stevia in it which is natural. I'm on this for liver reduction diet. I have been through MANY protein powders and this one is actually very good comparatively. You can buy it online. My doc sells it in their nutrition store. Comes in vanilla or chocolate. I like the chocolate. Mixes with 8oz cold Water.

Dr. Tyner is doing my band removal to RNY on 2/19/13. I think this is an awesome practice!!! Much much better than the doc I had for lapband. I haven't met Dr. Enoch but Dr Bruce was my sleep study doc and he's terrific! Anyone with band to RNY? How long we're your hosp stays? Anyone go to Rex? Do you remember how long the doc booked the OR? Dr. Tyner has 4 - 4 1/2 hours for me. Isn't that kinda long?

    Fabulous February!

Hi! I'm new! Been reading blogs for the last couple of weeks and now it's time to post :-). Band to RNY revision on 2/19/13 so please add me to your Fab Febs :-) I have 4 kids (12 girl, 10 boy, 7 boy, and 3 girl). Happily married for 16 years. You all are so amazing and inspiring! Your amazing journeys are awesome to follow as I venture on mine. I did not have to do any Pre-op diet for my band in 2007. This time I have a new to me and MUCH better doc for revision to RNY. I started the liver reduction diet Jan 31 then went to liquid only on Feb 11. Tomorrow is Clear Liquids only then Tuesday is the BIG DAY! I won't know for sure I got the RNY til I wake up abs someone tells me. My doc scheduled both procedures - band and port removal then RNY for same OR time block. 4 to 4 1/2 hours! Doesn't that seen long?! I know that's total time for the OR which included prep, surgery, and clean up. Anyone else with something similar? I'm nervous, anxious, excited all at the same time. Thanks for letting me join your group!
