3 months RNY post-op eating challenged????

I'm a year out almost( 9 days shy) and I still fight with my food daily!!! Sometimes I just don't want to eat and lately the thought of meat repulsed me... I eat a bite or two and I don't want anymore... So I feel your struggle !!!

    question

Yes!!! RNY is a malabsorption surgery meaning you don't absorb the nutrients like a normal person does anymore, so while MFP is saying you are getting all of your needed calcium for the day you really aren't due to the RNY... Take the extra calcium each day as recommended by your Dr.
  3. You look fantastic!!! I soo shoulda kept a pair of pants to do that with but I gave all mine away...

Congrats!!! It's feels amazing doesn't it!!! I actualky have found it harder to try and maintain and not loose more weight!! I've lost over 10lbs since I reached goal weight so I need to talk with the NUT about that. But I'm soo happy for you!!!

    Vitamins

As a fellow RNY- er I take 2- flinstones vitamins daily, 1- B-12 sublingual you let dissolve under your tongue( cherry flavor) a cherry flavor iron chewable that's really tasty, and I get my calcium citrate in liquid form I take 2- Tbsp a day. This is all broken up throughout the day
  8. Give it time!!! Or better yet take a pic.. If u have any to compare to before surgery. I could never see the weight loss unless I took pictures!

    Marijuana

If I'm correct this was the topic of discussion.... Not the BS that keeps popping up... Come on people just drop it already and move on!!! If it doesn't pertain to how marijuana has affected your "munchies" post op or you have something of value to add to the ACTUAL discussion than please keep the negativity to yourselves and move on! Some of us would like to hear about others experiences with this and all the BS is getting in the way!!! For everyone's sake just let it go already!!!
  10. Love the idea Alex!! I wouldn't even mind being a leader... Not sure there would be enough people in my area though! I live in a big county but not sure about people who have had the surgery, I only know of 2 others... Currently I have to drive 45 min. To go to my monthlong meetings and so I normally do not go.
  11. Great article for everyone to read !!!

    Embarrassingly clueless to working out!

I would start off slow walking... Do some laps around your house, then do more laps etc. keep increasing until you feel comfortable walking outside or on a treadmill. Then start increasing your speed slowly and increase how long you walk. Take in slow and steady and before you know it you will be walking or jogging miles!!! Also, after a month or two start adding some strength training so that you can keep your muscles firm and counter act some of the sagging skin! That's what my surgeon recommended and it worked for the most part. Good luck!!
  13. I had to have RNY (bypass) because I had acid reflux an because I had Gastropareris which ha to be fixed... The choice was not my own.. However, I am glad I got the bypass!!!

    PROTEIN HELP PLEASE!

Am I the only person who dumps on peanut butter??? Even the reduced fat... I use PB2 and love it... But every time I try peanut butter either in my protein shake or by itself it makes me dump horribly for hours!!!

    What ya eating tonight?

Oh yeah, but I don't add those until the last hour because they will get really mushy if you put them in at the same time as your mushrooms and I like my broccoli to have some life in it!!! Lol

    Marijuana

I use mj for chronic migraines associated with a brain disorder that cannot be cured, only treated... The only thing that gets rid of these migraines caused by this disorder are heavy narcotics and mj... I prefer the later since narcotics can be soo addicting!! I stopped about 2 months before surgery and then didn't start back until about 3 months post op... During the 3 months post op I got a little too dependent on my narcotics and that when I went back to the mj... So after about a week I was off the meds again with no problem!!

    What ya eating tonight?

You use the dry ranch mix. 1 oz. dry ranch mix plus 1-16oz container of mushrooms. It says use 1 stick of butter. Melt butter add ranch to butter stir well. Poor over mushrooms cook on low in crock pot 4 hrs. I usually triple the recipe, but only add 2 sticks of butter... They cook down and are delicious!!!

    What ya eating tonight?

Tonight for V-Day me n hubs are having snow crab legs and shrimp, crockpot ranch mushrooms and broccoli... Also fixing boiled new potatoes for him with sour cream and chives.. I made a low carb crustless sugar free cheesecake for dessert, but not sure I will be eating any of that...
  22. I would definitely check your handbook if given one or contact your surgeon before taking any OTC meds I know after RNY you can't take pepto bysmal so be careful!

What does your day look like

11 months post op.... 16oz hot herbal tea with meds N Vitamins Breakfast : 4oz oatmeal or 2 eggs w/cheese or 3oz any meat w/ 1.5oz veggie ( I like variety) 16oz Water w/ crystal light Mid day snack: 1/2 fruit or 1/2 no sugar added apple sauce lunch : 3oz. Meat ( lately its either baked wings or sautéed beef liver) and 1.5 oz veggie 16oz water Snack: dannon fit n light yogurt or 8 almonds and 1 oz cheese or a Protein shake 16oz herbal tea Dinner: 3 oz. meat or 4 oz. of chili etc. Most people at this stage can eat more than this at a time.. My NUT said I should be able to eat anywhere from a half a cup to a whole cup by a year post op but I'm lucky if I can eat 5 oz at a time. So I have 2-3 Snacks in between my meals. I eat roughly 750-800 calories a day and I'm sure I'm suppose to eat more. But that's my day !!
