First Fill Didn't Work!!!

nm sunshine, Yes I did have it filled just 2 days ago, and I think it is better today. He did fluoroscopy and said it was really tight and if i did not think i could handle that little liquid he could take some out. I was thinking it would get better and it is. He said if at any time i think i can not deal with it he will take some out or if i threw up to come back. I think I was just used to eating so much more that it was a shock.

Not filled yet, and very upset

Yes, you do need to talk to the doctor himself. If he is unwilling to help you in this situation you may need to check into going to somebody else for a fill. You do need to half self control but the band is a tool and it needs to be put to work (with a fill).

What's the reason for not filling you? I got a fill at 6 weeks but I know each doctor is differant.

First Fill Didn't Work!!!

Don't get too aggressive with your fills. You can get too tight and it is just as miserable. I went yesterday and my doctor told me I was REALLY tight but it was up to me and I decided to stick with this fill. Today I am telling you I can only drink like an ounce at a time. I am gonna give it the weekend and may go back for an unfill. He put 2cc in my 4cc band for the first fill.
5. Yes, I did. It is from the gas. They put air in your tummy when they do the stomach so they can move around in there.

Any one use Dr. Daniel Huacuz-Tijuana?

I was banded by Dr. Huacuz 9/20/07 and everything was great. I was terribly nervous about the country and such. The nurses were great, there is no language barrier as most would think. The majority of the nurses and the patient coordinator and the Dr. can hold a conversation with you in English. (not just questions about the surgery.) They were wonderful about making sure my husband was getting meals, he would decide what he wanted from menus and they ordered and had it delivered. He had his own room across the hall. I really could not have asked for a cleaner place. I think the lady that mopped got on her hands and knees. Your shoes squeaked when you walked down the hall. Ever heard of squeaky clean??? This place was that. The doctor even took for for a small sight seeing tour on our way to the flouroscopy. I had a problem 2 days after getting home and i called him at 1 am on his cell phone and he answered and told me what to do and to call him in 1 hour but i finally went to sleep so i did not call him back but the next morning he called to check on me. I thought that was great. He is very concerned and sweet. You would never have an American doctor treat you like he did. The whole staff was wonderful and i will definetly think about a tummy tuck from him. I can not go there every fill because of the distance but i can not wait to go back to see everyone. Do not hesitate to use Dr. Huacuz i do not think you will be disappointed.

time release "detrol"

Well itr is very interesting, it is. If the pill is large enough that it does not go down to the lower stomach where the stomach acids are, it will not dissolve. I had this problem with a differant medication. I have heard of a case that they lady had all those "balls" inside the pill basically clogging up in her and she could not swallow anything. So i did my own experiment, take one of your pills open it and sit it in water, you will see it will grow to be like 10 times the normal size but the medicine inside never disolves. Very interesting!!

please tell me it gets easier !

I was banded 9/20/07 and i was the exact same way. I kept thinking you want me to put something in my body, if i can not handle water, i know i can not handle anything else. On the 7th day, i decided to eat a bit of applesauce and man did it ever make a differance. I felt so much better, i think i was starving and did not know it. There were days that i could not even get a full cup of liquids down in the whole 24 hour period. It does get better....promise.
10. Ok here is a thought. Do you take any kind of time release capsules? I found out that they will not open and disolve if they do not get down to the bottom part of your stomach where the acid is. I was told this because i was sick and i was taking 2 a day, so i experimented and that is true they did not disolve in plain water. Anyway i went to my doctor and told her you have got to get me on differant meds, ones i can crush. She did and i feel much better. If you think about this, the pills swell with water but do not disolve like they are made to do and there is no room in your pouch for food. One day i was only able to drink 6 oz of liquid in a 24 hour period. I knew this was not good, i lost a lot of weight at that time but it was so not worth it. Sorry to ramble but thought i would ask.

Dallas Fill Doctor

Dr. Maise is in Dallas. I have an appointment with him on November 1. He does not do bands, only fills. He charges 200.00 with flouroscopy and the first visit will cost an additional 175.00 to get established. His nurse says he is very aggressive with his fills.

SOOOOOOO Bloated!

I was banded 9/20/07 and i was the exact same way. I could not even drink water, it made it worse. Finally when i was able to eat something more than broth at 7 days, it all went away. Strange, i know but it did and i think that maybe food takes care of some of your stomach acids or something but i am now 12 days post-op and feel wonderful. Hold in there i am telling you the first week is the worst.

Had my surgery yesterday 9/19

It has been a week today since i was banded. The gas is still unbelievable. I can not hardly drink anything. Day before yesterday it took all day long to get down 8 oz of liquid in a 24 hour period. Yesterday i was able to maybe get in close to 30 oz. Today has been about 20 oz so far but i got about 2 oz of apple sauce down. I literally can not drink more i would throw up and have the last 2 days. We will see how tomorrow is. It has got to get better soon, right?

unbearable gas pain...what else can I do?

I also have terrible gas pains. It has been a week today since banded. Sometimes i think what have i done, how long is it gonna be this way. How can you work when all you can do is burp and toot. Although in my office it is all nurses and they holler all day long "good one". I walk but usually that causes it to be worse and i end up throwing up if you will, i am not sure what it is just huge burps and they are deep, i am scared i am gonna tear a stitch or slip my band. How much longer can this take?

When you woke up from anesthesia.....

When i first woke up i felt my stomach was a little sore so i knew they did the surgery. Then I realized something was beeping and i was annoying me so i started calling for someone and told them to turn the alarm off. I could not sleep with it going of or at least hit snooze and let me sleep longer, then the noise quit. I woke up thinking alarm what was i talking about.
17. margo, there were no expenses for tj at all. Of course i went to a differant doctor so i can not say what it will be there. I was allowed to walk around the second day and then come back to the clinic, so i went to a shopping center and got a starbucks and that was a little less than 4.00 and then i bought a bottle of water for 3.00 at airport. My husband spent money on food that they delivered to him at the clinic, and then he ate when we went to the shopping center but all in all i bet we did not spend more than 50.00 for food or anything else for that matter.
18. Margo I am back form TJ. I had the band and it was a wonderful experience. I would not say it was painful but you will be sore. I will be using Dr. Maise in Dallas. Yes he does fills for tj bands, he does not band but only fills. I have heard good things about him. I will see soon.
19. I am from Oklahoma. I am going to be banded tomorrow in tj. I will be going to Dallas to get fills.

Hypoglycemic? blood sugar question

I too started out being hypoglycemic which is exact opposite as diabetis. I have turn to be diabetic. I know this has happened with the more weight i have gained. Anyway when i was hypoglycemic i was told to do the same as diabetics. No sugars, limited starches, ect. That way you keep your blood sugar levels as level as possible. It is the ups and downs that really hurt your body. So if you do not eat sugar to begin with your body should not overwork and drop your sugar down so low. Anyway, with this i think it would depend on the way you eat, not how many times you eat and chances are, you may not have the symptoms you have as you start to lose weight. I know those terrible sweaty episodes all too well. Good luck if you decide to band.

Acid Reflux Wedge pillow

I have not heard of the pillow, however i have heard that you can put a small piece of wood under the top posts of your bed and that elevates the head and can work wonders keeping the acid down.
