  1. I will be seeing my doctor tomarrow for my first post-op visit. I'm a bit pivved at him over my surgery time and wonder if I should say something to him or just let it go. I was told to arrive at the hospital at 10:30am so best estimate to my family and friends was that I'd be out of surgery by 2:00 or 3:00. I was not planning on staying the night so I figured I be home early in the evening. As it turned out the nurse told me that my doctor does not like to wait on patients so he has everyone arrive in the morning, the nurses have to prep them then we just wait like cattle. So I arrive at 10:30 and they put an IV in then I had to lay on my back til 5:00pm for my surgery. I guess it just played with my emotions. I was hyped and ready at 10:30 by 5:00 I was anxious and scared. He has the same reguard for patients in his office as well. If I have a 2:00 appointment and can count on not seeing him till 3:30. I think it's arrogant and abusive but for the sake of our "relationship" should I keep it to myself? Kathy

    diet and cheating

I didn't cheat I was too afraid I'd mess up something in surgery.
  3. I was banded 7/18 and will be on liquids for two weeks. Here I am on day three and I keep looking at the calendar just wanting to get on with it. Nothing liquid tastes good to me. I,ve made 3 different cream soups and have thrown them all out. So I keep telling myself "stop being such a whiner" this to shall pass.

    houston concerned

Hey txntiger, I don't have any answers yet. My surgeon said I'd have 3 incisions and I woke up with 5. I see him next week and plan to ask him what happened. Kathy
  6. Hey Keith, glad the pre-op is going well for you. Stick with it - there was a lady in our area who cheated on the pre-op and after starting the surgery they closed her up and wouldn't continue. good luck! Kathy

    3 Days Post Op

Hey Roc, I'm 3 days post-op and I'm a bit itchy too. My girl friend who is a nurse says thats a sign I'm healing. I went out yesterday with my husband to office depot - anything to get out of the house. I'm considering drivig myself to Target right now. I find holding onto a shopping cart I can get more walking in. Kathy
  8. Hi Nya, I am going to be banded tomarrow. I've read a number of posts about pain from the gas that they use to exspand your belly for the surgery. I'm a little worried about it, did you experience gas pains?

    Newbie from Florida

Hey tlambright, I will have my procedure at Manatee Memorial Surgical Weight Loss center. They have two doctors that always do the surgery together. They are Dr. Erbella and Dr. Bunch. The center seems to have a great support system in place. They have a lady named Kathy at the center to answer general questions, they have a dietition that we can call anytime and the hold once a month support group meetings. After reading some posts where people go to Mexico and come back to no support system I'm feeling pretty good about my support.
  10. Hi everyone, this is my first post. I will be banded this Wed. 7/18. I'm a bit nervous. This site is very interesting you hear it all from this is great to I hate it. I'm banking on "this is great" I'm very motivated and have lost 14lbs on the pre-op diet. But that's pretty typical for me I get very motivated but I've always lacked the staying power. Will the band help to carry me through?

    Newbie from Florida

Hey Kelli, thanks for the good wishes. I'm in Bradenton and will have my surgery at Manatee Memorial Surgeical weight loss center. I'm hoping for an out-patient procedure. They've said if nothing unusual comes up and I can get up and walk I can go home. How are you doing on you're pre-op diet. I'm making it but it's no picnic.

    Time and Date Set

I'm having my surgery on the 18th also. I just have this sureal feeling like - am I really doing this? I'm also a bit scared about surgery in general. Knowing there are other folks like yourself out there helps give me courage.
