My weight loss is going slower than expected
sb5366 replied to ro32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you counting the liquid pre-op diet or just after surgery? I expected to loose a lot faster also. Getting sick of friends and family asking how much I have lost every time I talk to them and then saying "oh". I am four weeks out today and have only lost 14 pounds since surgery and a total of 31 pounds including my pre-op liquid diet. I cannot tell a difference at all. -
What Protein Shakes Do You Use?
sb5366 replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I was told to do instant breakfast no sugar added after surgery. I add Isopure to it. -

Thank you so much! I have not increased the amount I am eating for a week. Do not know my signals yet. Going to increase my next meal and try 1/4 cup...scary! -

2 weeks post op tomorrow. Feel awesome and am not on any pain meds. Feel 100%. All wounds are healing up great. Only issues am having is head hunger. No feelings of being full at all. Sometimes get a bit frustrated about that as not satisfied. Eating about 2 oz pureed until soft food intro on the 18th at my one month follow up. How much is everyone else eating at this point? -
Feeling hungry a lot of the time 5 days after operation. Could my stoma/pouch size be too big?
sb5366 replied to pdaz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK I am feeling the same way and I am on Pureed. 2 oz is not doing it even if I take the whole 20 mins to eat it. -
7 days out and just dont think i could handle another shake
sb5366 replied to crazedteacher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My deal is that I do not seem to have to wait as long and take as long drinking as other people...shake 15 mins, bottle of water 20 mins. It is freaking me out. It is also getting harder to wait the full 30 mins before and after eating. And NO feeling of fullness at all, not once. I feel like I am not following rules... -
The unpleasantries of RNY!
sb5366 replied to pookybear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Funny I had watery diarrhea from the get go and that stopped only as few days ago (I am 10days post op) Had a pretty normal one today but nothing odd about it. -
Good luck everyone that is scheduled tomorrow. My thoughts any prayers are with you!!

Amazon has it, if you are a shut in like me I also bought (eye roll but it works) Joan River's hair powder. It is in a compact and matches your hair color and comes with a brush, you just dab it on your scalp. Totally works. Google it. It is one of those monthly things but just order once and cancel. The brunette is very dark though!

No restrictions for NN No restrictions here. I have a Keurig and am going to just do espresso with splenda. I cannot survive without my coffee and my nutritionist said its all good.

OK I did it I posted a dumb ole pic and I adjusted the lighting and messed around until did not have a double chin. I was oh so focused not to move and keep the pose or it may come back!

Why do you think my dog is on here? I don't think I have let anyone take my picture in two years!

My surgeon fell and broke his hand so my day has been moved to the 23rd Kathy ;( How are you doing BTW?

Check out this link. I guess I thought I understood RNY really well, but this short article taught me a few things...http://voices.yahoo.com/understanding-roux-en-y-gastric-pouch-3161015.html?cat=5

I do the same thing Janel. I usually have one meal a day and am worried about it. I am going to set reminders on my phone hourly to remind myself to eat something small. Until the liquid diet starts and then that will remind me I need to drink part of a shake. I also am going to be getting on Phentermine (an appetite suppressant) during the liquid diet. ***I also noticed today that an espresso cup is 2 oz. A lot of them come with a saucer which is nice and small. They come in all kinds of cool shapes and colors. I am going to use mine to make sure I am not over-doing it and I get to do it in style! LOL. 1/3 of one is about 30ml which if I am not mistaken is about our after surgery stomach capacity right? Or am I wrong on that?***

I had goals I had to meet each month with the end outcome being how I would eat after surgery. I was told to stay at a somewhat consistent weight though by my program administrator so I did not follow the nut's goals for me, just told them what they wanted to hear. And I just did not think I would get approved so did not take it as seriously as I should have. I need to stress that I do not think this was a good idea, just that I did it and now am paying for it by having a shorter period of time to "prepare". Though I do not know how much you can prepare for this, per my Dad who had this done 7 years ago you cannot even imagine what it is like until you are there.
-
I cannot stress this enough, I cheated myself to be clear. The program is the way it is for a reason. I just do not think most people are able to follow the nut guidelines or they would not be having surgery. The 6 month for me was called a "Dr. supervised weight loss attempt" if this was successful for people they would not need surgery. But trying to change habits as soon as you can is always a good idea.

What have people been told about carbonation? I have read on here that it expanding your pouch is a myth and I have read its not. I even read of someone that was given ginger ale in the hospital! My Dad had the surgery 7 years ago and drinks diet Pepsi like it is goin out of style. He also chews gum like crazy, but has maintained his weight...I am a carbonation junkie so am curious...
-
That is what I thought but was still worried as I cannot seem to make myself sip.

You are so lucky that you did not have a sleep study! I had to have two and they suck!

I just found out my husband will not be able to get out of working the week after my surgery and I just wanted to know what people's experience was. Did you find that you really needed someone around when you got home from the hospital? What kinds of things did you need help with? And for how long a time period? My surgery is on a Friday morning (yay) so I will have part of a day home after being discharged before my hubby has to go to work. I assume I will be sleeping a lot...Oh and I do not have kids. Thank you so much!

Will I need help after surgery?
sb5366 replied to sb5366's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for the info!! I had a cyst taken off of my ovary years ago and had about a five inch incision. I could not do a thing for a while. I keep thinking it will be like that. I could not even get onto my bed and slept on the couch for several days. I even needed help getting on and off the dumb thing. SO all great info! Thank you!! -
