Hi all, I mostly surf and am thankful for all of your words of wisdom. I had my surgery 6/25 and am down 62 lbs. I am losing very slowly but I am greatful that I am now wearing a size 16/18 and feal great. Lately, I am having trouble eating later in the day. I am just not hungry at dinner or later. I take a few bites and am done. In the morning and lunch I do fine. Has any one else experienced this?

Constipation is a MOTHER!
SweetnLow replied to PrettyMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also having serious constipation issues. I was fine the first 3 weeks after surgery but then once I started eating solid proteins..... the constipation bit me like a big dog. What I have been doing is really working on getting my water in. I too was really dehydrated. Secondly, I have been eating 2 tbsp of a Boca burger or a black bean burger for one of my meals. I think I am starting to see some relief. I would recommend that you call your doctor, especially with the tingling and muscle spasms you are experiencing. You may be low on potassium or it could be something else. Drinking a V-8 per day can help with replenishing potassium. -

Has anyone had this symptom?
SweetnLow replied to cynthiakred's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same issue as well as feeling very cold all the time. I think it is from being in Ketosis. I researched Ketosis on the web and feeling light headed is one of the symptoms. It takes about 6 weeks for your body to adjust. Hope this helps. -
4 weeks out and questions about feeling full.
SweetnLow posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am 4 weeks out and I really don't feel hungry but when I eat I don't feel full. I left the hospital on a pureed diet. I am now eating 3 meals a day which consist of 2 tbsp of finely diced or pureed chicken, fish, crab or scallop, Greek yogurt, cheese 2 tbsp of either pureed/mashed fruit or vegetable. 1 tsp of promise margarine or canola oil per meal to ensure I am getting enough Alpha Lineolic acid. I am also drinking 2 Protein Shakes per day. I have not had any problem with any food I have tried. I guess I should feel lucky but this also scares me a little. (I haven't tried beef yet as my doctor says no beef for 6 months). The only time I felt full was when I was in a hurry and drank my whole Protein Shake 8oz in about 10 minutes with out thinking. I felt somewhat uncomfortable but not in pain. I usually drink my Protein shake in 20 to 30 minutes with no problem. It seems there are a lot of members who are having issues with keeping foods down, fullness, etc. I am scared that my pouch is too big and I will have problems later. Is there anyone out there who had no issues at all and has done well long term with weight loss. I just need some assurance. -

I'm not sure how to reply to posts on this forum so hope this works. Very well said. I had to have 3 months of supervised nutrition for my insurance company. I lost about 15 lbs following a conservative diet..... then found out my doctor does not require a pre-op liquid diet... simply that you must have a light meal the night before and nothing after 12pm. Anyhow with my 50th birthday, my hubby's birthday, my daughters birthday and then Memorial day in such short order... it has been like one big party. Now it is time to get back to business and get back on the nutrition plan using myfitnesspal. About a week before I might do a liquid diet like some of the ones I have read about.

My doctor doesn't require a pre-op diet. I almost wish he did because I have the last supper syndrome really bad. My surgery is June 26
