2 weeks post op pureed food
thxkbye replied to UK-Nats78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 weeks post op. So far I have dumped twice, both times when I ventured a bit out of the post op diet. Had a small amount of tiny pita chips with my string cheese one time, and the other some baked beans and a tiny pit of potato salad. Terrible mistakes on my part. Other than that I have done exactly what the doc has said. I have been in a bit of a stall for a week but i understant thats normal. Lost 20 lbs in a week and been there for a week now. Gonna stop using the scale for awhile. Been logging my food, keeping carbs very low and calories around 500 per day. Meals have been 1 scrambled egg with a teaspoon of shreded cheese. String cheese or Light and Fit yogurt for lunch. Only half the 5oz if yogurt. 6 oz protein drink, and maybe another string cheese at some point, and a scrambled egg again at dinner. Am I eating too much? -
Had surgery on July 11th, weight that day was 273, today weight was 252. Incredible. Really no pain at all, woke up uncomfortable from gas pressure in the center of my chest, but the diloted meds relived that. Cath was really the most annoying thing. As a guy maybe its more annoying? Got used to it only needed it one night. Went under knife thusday the 11th and went home sunday. Told me to stop taking all my meds! First Post OP Appt. today. Gave me clerance to add Yogurt, Scrambled Egg, string cheese, and cottage cheese. Had a bit of refried beans today, was like heaven, just a bite. Had a scrambled egg with cheese for dinner filled me up, I wanted more it tasted so good but i was safisfied. So far the only thing that bothers me are the insisions, they itch like hell. Dr. said to use cortisone cream, but it really hasnt helped. they are so tiny yet so annoying. Not inflamed or anything just itchy. Took some lortab for the first time in days just to get a bit of relief. I will say I was scared as hell going into the hospital that morning. I pushed myself and reminded myself of all the reasons I was doing this. For my Health, My Kids. The thought that if I do this for myself now at 33, maybe I wont need to ever go under the knife again. Doing this on my terms. I was scared to be put to sleep, not the proceedure. It really was no big deal, felt like a minute. I woke up, I made it. Now to make it count. I really believe having a positive attitude changes everything. Yes you will feel tired, yes you will have doubts and questions. But if you stay positive and when you wake up think positive! So far I am so very glad that I did this, yes the future is uncertain, but it already was before anyway. Take care and god bless.

Anyone here with blue shield of California? Please help.
thxkbye posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 months into my 6 months of visits with my surgeon. I have been recommended for surgury from my primary and have seen a dietician and phyc which have also recommended me. I am 5'11 280 with sleep apnea in CPAP, Gerd, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and joint pain. I had my first appointment with my primary physician in January and I've been told that would count toward my 6 months, I have since seen my surgeon 4 times and have one more appointment in June. I am looking to find people that have went through the process in California with blue shield to ease my worrys. How was your experience? A denial would really devastate me. I am ready to move on with my life. Thank you! -

I am in San Diego. My last visit on april 22nd my Doctor asked me to lose 12 pounds and put me on 2 meal replacement shakes a day for breakfast and lunch. I have been sticking to it and have lost about 13 lbs already. I have lost the weight so fast I contacted my doctors office and office lady told me to just try and maintain the weight loss and not lose much more. I called BS and they told me that if during the 6 month weight loss period if I showed success with the program, that they could deny me due to diet and exercise working... I have never had an issue losing the weight, it's keeping it off. I have lost maybe 2 times my highest weight throughout my life only to gain it back and more. The BSCALIFORNIA lady was great though, just gonna try to stay where I am and not lose too much. I still have another month to go after this next consult so I could lose way too much at this rate. I Need to satisfy the surgeon and the insurance... Sigh. -
for those who had to complete 6 month diet

I have my date set for my first consult with the surgeon on Feb 22nd. Blue Shield of CA requires 6 month monitored weight loss with monthly weigh ins... I have many of those, only problem is they want it consecutively within the last 18 months. So my surgery center told me they will use the weigh in from my Primary Dr. I got in January, then another when I see the surgeon on the 22nd of this month. I am not happy about it, I went through Kaiser options back in 2010, and chickened out of the surgery. I went to those classes for 24 weeks, weighed in once a week. Then have done medifast many times after. I have all my Kaiser records. 24 hour fitness records, CPAP prescription and sleep study. I have a 38 BMI with Sleep apnea on Cpap, high cholesterol, and high BP, Gerd/Reflux, joint pain, and depression. They told me they could try to submit now, but that it will prolly get denied, and if it does you only have 3 chances to get approved and then its over?? Way I figure, now I most likely wont have surgery till august, wondering if i should take a chance and have them submit what I have.... -
Went to my seminar out here in San Diego this week with pacific bariatric. I have blue shield of ca ppo. I am 5'11 275lbs male with High Blood Pressure, high cholestorol, sleep Apena on CPAP, Gerd, reflux, joint pain. I am hearing bad things about blue shield. I was in kaiser options about 3 years ago but chickened out of the surgury. But I have all my records from kaiser as well as my primary physician now recommending me to do the Rny. Looking for advice, really don't want to have to wait 6-7 months for a surgery date if I can help it Thank you!

Hello everyone, newbie here to the forum. I am starting my journey and would love to hear advice amd experiences. 3 years ago I was a Kaiser Patient in San Diego and went through the full positive choice options program. I had lost almost 40 lbs during that period and backed out of the surgery thinking This time it would be different and I could keep going and keep it off. Big mistake. I've gained it all back over and over the past 3 years. Well enough is enough, I am now with Blue Shield of CA PPO. My primary care physician has recommended bypass for me and I am going to a seminar at pacific bariatric today. I have all my prior medical records from Kaiser showing my weight loss attempts and sleep study for my CPAP. I am trying to get all my ducks in a row so that I can get scheduled as soon as possible. Anyone have experience with Pacific Bariatric? Any experience with them outside of Kaiser? How long did it take from the seminar to surgery? Or Experience with Blue Shield of CA? I am 33, 5'11 280 male, with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Gerd, and sleep apnea. Thank you for your time! Look forward to sharing my experience with you all.
