    symptoms of gall bladder issues

Hi Jodie - I read your response to gall bladder issues. I'm having the same symptoms. Did you get your GB out? Have you had any other symptoms? I can't stand this annoying pain on my side. Any information you have will be helpful. THanks, Rosita
  2. I was weight at my consultation with the doctor to see if I qualified. Then after the surgery at my first check up, of course, everytime after that too. But not between my first appointment and the surgery date. Good luck and congratulations on your weight loss before surgery.

How much is weight vs. age?

I lost 51 points on my cholestoral level. My levels had be creeping up for the last couple of years. I had my surgery on December 17th and about two weeks ago had blood work and my cholestoral when down 51 points. I didn't take meds before because I told my doctor and wanted to try lowering it by dieting to no avail. But with the surgery, I had success.

My evaluation took 10 minutes!!! I waited in the waiting room for 1 1/2 hours, but the evaluation was 10 minutes. Go figure!
  6. I had my surgery on December 17th. The first 3 or so weeks, the port area hurt alot, sometimes it still hurts, but not enough for me to stop doing what I'm doing. It will get better. Hang in there for another week or so and see what happens.

Surgeries The Week Of December 17

I had my surgery on Monday. Everything went well. I have minimal pain, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst, I'm a two. It's been a breeze so far. But let me tell you, I was scared to death about having the surgery. But I'm so glad I did it. Wishing you all the best of luck this week.

    Banded on December 17th

If I think about it, I get all nervous, so I try not to think about it. I see the surgeon on thursday to talk about the surgery and it's my chance to ask more questions. I'm excited but I'm scared too.
  12. Hi Everyone - I'm having my surgery on December 17th. I'm scared! But I know I'll be okay. What did you all purchase for after surgery, when it comes to food and liquids. I like the slim fast drinks. Will that be enough to pass as a Protein Drink? Any ideas on foods would be great. Thanks!

    BCBS (MA) Approval!

BCBS is the best. In all the years I've been working, I've always had BCBS. I've never had a problem with them. Let us know how you make out when the time comes. Take Care.
  17. I got my approval letter from the insurance company today. I'm so happy! I meet with the surgeon for pre-op on December 6th. I'll find out then if I get my gall bladder out then too. My lap band surgery is scheduled for December 17th.
  18. I just had my ultrasound yesterday to make sure everything is okay (Pre-op) and I found out that I have gall stones. I didn't know I had them, never had a problem or pain. My question is, have any of you had gall stones that interfered with having your lap band surgery. I really don't want to have two surgeries, one to take care of the gall stones, and the other to put in the lap band. My lap band surgery is scheduled for December 17th. Thanks!

    BCBS (MA) Approval!

A friend of mine had her surgery with Dr. Lautz as well about two years ago. She looks fantastic! She told me lots of great things about him as well as my primary doctor. What was your experience the day after the surgery?

    BCBS (MA) Approval!

I'm having my surgery with Dr. Lautz at the Brighams and Woman's Hospital in Boston. I also thought that I would get denied first, even thought the Drs. secretary said that I would not have a problem. Yippie for me. I'm nervous about the surgery, well not so much about the surgery, but the recovery process and the liquid diet.

    Lap Band and Gall Stones

Thanks Alfie - Did you have problems with your gall bladder? Or did they discover you had gall stones when they did the ultrasound for the lap band? I haven't had a problem at all, I didn't know I had gall stones. Where are you from and whose your doctor? Thanks, Rosita

    Lap Band and Gall Stones

Thanks for your response. I much rather just have the one surgery doing both procedures than having two separate surgeries. I hope all works out for me.
  24. I had to go to an informational session before I could make an appointment to see the surgeon. Once I went to the informational session, I had to wait 2 1/2 months for the earlies appointment to see the surgeon. He said that I would be a good candidate for the surgery, so they scheduled the surgery right then and there, but it's not for another 2 1/2 months. I still don't know if the insurance is going to cover the surgery, which is on December 17, 2007

    BCBS MA question...

I was told by the surgeon's office that HMO Blue New England will be fine and that they would get it approved for me. My primary has sent the surgeon a letter stating that she supports me and recommends the surgery. My bmi is 43 and I have a thyroid problem. I can't wait to see what the surgeon would say when I meet with him on 9/27/07. I hope I don't run into any problems.
