My surgeon actually has you take meds for 6 months post op to help prevent gall stones because apparently gall stones are a fairly common side effect of rapid weight loss.

I had a pre op nutrition class, a one on one nutrition evaluation, a one on one exercise eval, a 2 hour psych eval and a 2 hour long post op nutrition class. Very comprehensive care. A bit of a pain at times, but at the end of the day, worth it.

Pre Op Protein Search

I went to Bariatric Pantry and bought several samples. It was worth every penny to be able to buy samples instead of the huge containers. The only thing I haven't been able to stand was IsoPure. Everything Else I have gotten used to it. -
My surgery was Wednesday morning at 10:30 and it is now midnight on Thursday night. The pain and weakness has been much better today. The nursing staff has been incredible. I have never been through major surgery so had no idea what to expect. But this board has been super helpful! They tell me I should go home tomorrow around 4pm which I am pretty nervous about just because the safety net of the nurses is nice prayers too everyone in pre and post op. we are stronger than we give ourselves credit for.

They gave me these odd panties to wear but they were great about it. Just waiting on the people with the drugs

In the bed, all changed, waiting for them to come and get started on me. Good luck and prayers to everyone today!

Surgery in approx. 12 hours and my visitor decides to show up now...nice. And I have absolutely no pads in the house. Haven't used them in years. What a blast! Lol...thanks for letting me know it isn't just me

So, tomorrow is my day! 6:30am arrival time and 8:30am surgery time. 3-6 weeks off work. We shall see. Congrats to everyone else this month!

Good luck to everyone today. Had my pre op meeting with the surgeon this morning and that went fantastic. Now been sitting at the hospital for an hour to do their pre op drill and they are saying it is going to be at least another 30 minutes. Thank goodness for the work iPad. Going to be a busy couple of days getting things tied up at work, but ready to get this show on the road. Had a huge fight with my mom yesterday about her telling people about the surgery and me not wanting to. At least not until after. Just tired of answering people's questions and explaining things. I will be much happier when it is done

Tomorrow morning is my pre-op appointment. I am really stressed out about work because my temp just started on Friday. Worried about what they will be checking at the doctors. What if they cancel me?

I ordered a bunch of samples from Bariatric Pantry online. Syntax is good, Unjury, too. For me, it is just trial and error. I hated Isopure. IMO it made me gag.

Clemmons...outside Winston Salem.

I ordered samples from Unjury and Bariatric kitchen....I have about 30 different types/flavors that I have to try. You just have to keep at it. -
Whey protien smell and taste

The Alpine Punch made me vomit, but I have tried many other single serve packets and they have been palatable. I think you just have to keep trying. -
Thoughts to everyone in this process! Hang in there! No one said it would be easy, but i guess if we are being honest, the lives we live now aren't that easy either, we can do it!

North Carolina...surgery date February 20th.

I highly recommend Chantix. It can be expensive but if you check online you can find coupons. My favorite part was the daily one calls and emails. That was two years ago.

Don't feel bad. I finished all of my prep stuff on dec. 27th, the told me I would hear within a week of a surgery date. I waited 2 before I emailed -
I totally know how you feel! I have been pretty much useless since I started my pre-op diet on Wednesday. Angry all the time, not hungry because of the level of protein I am consuming but irritated by even that! To make it even worse, I haven't lost any weight! my mom keeps saying it will all be worth it, but the more and more people that find out about the surgery the more pressure and anxiety I feel surrounding it. Still working on find a protein shake that I can choke down without wanting to vomit everywhere. You are right, the coping skills are just gone at the moment. Didn't eve go to church this morning because I didn't want to have to pretend I was ok. Ugh...2 1/2 weeks left.
