Good luck to all of you on your upcoming surgeries! I am nine months post op and loving life now! Just remember all your struggles you will go through were our struggles too. It is very frustrating in the beginning being so thirsty and wanting to drink so badly. You just have to take it slow and eventually you will be able to drink like you used to. Best of luck on your recovery!

I also was taking meds before and after surgery for sleep. It took quite awhile for my body to adjust back to them and help me sleep better. The first couple of months I would wake up at crazy hours! Hang in there it gets better! Good luck.

What to have at home to be successful
kraney replied to kespy74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A food scale. I got a Biggest Loser one from Walmart and absolutely love it. Also measuring cups are great to have too. Especially the 1/4 cup size. One of those back support wrap around belt things also helped me a lot to feel supported during the recovery. Lots of different soups because I would only eat was I was in the mood for. A good travel mug to keep your hot liquids hot and your cold ones cold. I also have a small insulated lunch bag I take everywhere in the car with me to fill with drinks and snacks. Wow I had a lot of stuff! Lol! Best of luck! -
I'm 9 months post op and I love my massages. I normally get them at a spa. If you are pressure sensitive or bruise easily just let your masseuse know. They are normally very accommodating as well they should be.

The first tree is our tree in the family room. It has my little Pom Keiko in front of it. The second tree is a memorial tree that I do for my brother every year. He passed December 4, 2009. This is my way to remember him at the holidays.

Been awhile since I've posted pics. Just hit my 9 months two days ago. Went from 229 to 139 so far. Size 18 (super tight) to size 4! I will be turning the big 40 on the 26th! What a great way to start the next chapter of my life! Hope everyone has a very happy holiday season! -
You look great! Love the snowman sweater

Went to go exchange some jeans today...size 8's for a size 4! Never thought I'd be that size! 18 to 4 in 9 months!

Amazing what some people feel they can say to you. I'm so sorry that they said that. Keep your spirits up! Tomorrow is your day! Good luck with your surgery!! -
Best Hot Cocoa Protein Drink
kraney replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
It gets a little coating on the top I scrape off. I usually heat about half the container at a time. -
The hospital will normally supply you with a mesh panty and a pad. No tampons allowed. You won't sound like an idiot asking I wasn't sure either when I went in for day of surgery.

You have to make this decision for yourself only. I remember when I was beginning to research rny I only spoke about it to my husband and on these boards. I didn't personally want to share with everyone that I was doing it and feel the need to explain everything. I used these boards as my support and still do. I may not post often, but I am always on here reading. I ended up finally telling my parents a few weeks before the surgery. They did not sound supportive at all. However after having the surgery done and ending up with a few complications they finally started showing a more supportive side. I believe this was due to the fact they finally did some research themselves to find out what rny was all about. Sometimes what seems like family being non supportive may actually be that they are uninformed about rny and the new lifestyle you will be beginning. I wish you the best of luck with your decision. We are always here to support you.

I love my ninja!

Oh not to worry! I hope you have an uneventful and speedy recovery now!

I did start my absolutely unpredictable pcos cycle about two days before surgery. It wasn't a big deal as far as the surgery went I just let the nurse know when I checked in. However I will add that I've never bled that bad before. Since you are given blood thinners it made my period a 1000x worse than normal. Take your own pads that's for sure. Took lots of panties just in case.

What Were Your Favorite Post Op Foods?
kraney replied to KristinaRnY's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I loved ricotta topped with a little spaghetti sauce and some mozz! I'd bake it 15 mins in a little ramekin and eat on it for days! Also refried beans with a little cheese on top! Mmm! Some days it really depended on what I was 'feeling' would taste best. Good luck with your surgery. I always like to recommend the best shakes I've found because someone suggested them on here...Premier Protein in chocolate. You can find them at Costco and SAMs club.
