The shedding has started....not the lbs, but the HAIR...
LaurasJourney replied to L Belle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm devastated with the amount of hair that I have lost. I just now started taking 6000mcg of biotin daily and increasing my protein intake. I had such thick hair now it's so thin. Had to cut it to my shoulders to make it look thinner. Praying it stops soon!!!!! -

LaurasJourney replied to jaymi2521's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Baked tilapia. It was delicious. Had some peas too and I always have a hard time digesting them. -
So ready to give it a try. I love salads so hopefully it will go down ok.

My husband left the entire decision up to me. He has been so supportive throughout this whole process. I am so blessed to be his wife. A good support system is KEY! Our relationship has only gotten better since the surgery (because I'm happier with me).

Exercise!!!!! Even if its just a 30 minute walk EVERY day!!! I hated going to the gym but now it's my favorite part of my day. I'm challenging myself more and more and I can't believe what I've accomplished. I am about 6 months post op and I'm down 94 lbs.

How Long Was Your Hospital Stay?
LaurasJourney replied to sleevemeup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had surgery on a Monday got discharged that weds. Two weeks later had to go back into the hospital for 7 days due to uncontrollable vomiting (not everyone gets that). After I left that time I was great til I had a massive gall bladder attack 3 months later. Had to get my gall bladder out (common due to rapid weight loss) been amazing ever since -
bypass vs sleeve
LaurasJourney replied to Amanda R's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had bypass because I had bad acid reflux before surgery and the sleeve can sometimes make it worse. My GERD is gone now!!! -
I have tricare and it took 6 months from my first appt with the surgeon til my surgery. I was required to take nutrition classes, pass a psych eval, go to mandatory support group and wellness/fitness classes. It was tedious to say the least but I had lived so long unhealthy and overweight that six months was worth the wait. It's now been almost six months since my surgery and I'm thankful for all the classes they made me go through. My whole life has changed! Just be patient you will be so happy you stuck with it. I went through Ft. Carson in Colorado. I recommend Dr. Robert Wilcox to EVERYONE!!!!!

I am getting a minimum of 65g of protein a day and my hair is still falling out in clumps. I've always had thick hair and now it's noticeably thin. I'm going to try biotin. I'm desperate. My surgeon said that its not a vitamin deficiency that going through the surgery causes your hair to go on the same dying cycle when I usually is random.
