Gastric Bypass, surgery date Feb.4. Yayyyy

Sounds like a plan... Since I work from home, and in front of the computer she wanted me to make sure I was active even at home,,,,meaning I have to get up and walk to avoid blood clots...

Gastric Bypass, surgery date Feb.4. Yayyyy

They did not give me any limits about work, they just want to make sure I walked at least 30-40 mins a day... when you go in ask Dr.Choi just to be sure..

Gastric Bypass, surgery date Feb.4. Yayyyy

Congrats on ya date: You will be fine... I had some pain after surgery and the week after I had an infection which Dr. Choi said could happen but I was put on meds and it cleared it. I have ups and downs, with the diets and my new pouch, but like everyone else has said you have to take it day by day.... Dr. Choi has me on puree's now and some things are not agreeing with my new pouch but I am trying to do best with what i have like yogurts, Jello, apple sauce, carnation essentials Protein shake... This is the only part of the surgery that is bothering me is my new pouch and getting my new pouch to work with me... this is a life changing transition....I went from eating fried chicken collard greens mac and cheese, to pernil and rice and Beans to eating baby foods, yogurts, jello and mash potatoes...(yes I kinda drooled when I said what I use to eat...(sorry lol) now I take a few sips or a tbsp of something and I am full....(If it agrees with me) All I can say is, my prayers are with you, and I am glad we found this forum...I just joined and I hear both sides good and bad and I get great advice which is good for me because now I don't feel so alone:)

    Where is everyone from?

I was nervous too, when I did my surgery she came to see me before I had it done then they escorted e to the room and all I remember is waking up..You will loose weight if u follow the diet that she gave us...it takes some adjusting but together we can do this...I have an appt with her on the 5th, still adjusting but if you ever need a lending ear, or support I am here Veronica

New post op, surgery 1/25, frustrated!

jbaum as crazy as it sounds I would rather sh*t than to throw up...ugh lol (hopefully that made u smile) for me it feels like things are stuck in my chest...and like you I feel like all Proteins are lost and gone... I think for the most part, like I have heard others say on here, we just have to adjust and try to get our proteins in....have you spoken with your doctor...I have been calling mine so much because of this too...

New post op, surgery 1/25, frustrated!

Before my surgery (jan 9th gastric bypass) I was loving my Protein shakes (Isopure creamy vanilla) after surgery I am unable to keep it down, I tried drinking it at a slow pace, but it comes right up....I spoke to my doctors office today, and she told me to but the carnation essential (I also got it in vanilla) and It didn't come up although I had discomfort once I drank it.... Not sure if you want to try something else as a Protein shake or maybe ask your dr... everyday since they have put me on puree foods, I have been throwing up...*sighs*

New post op, surgery 1/25, frustrated!

I am in the same boat as you. Everything I am eating I am throwing up, I am frustrated and emotional with regrets. I think day by day it will get better and just coming on here talking to other who share the same difficulties will help us with this new journey we are on....since my surgery was on Jan 9th, I am on the puree as well...I am living on yogurt, jello, progresso soups (tried one yesterday it stayed down), mash potatoes....and baby food. For me I read what ppl try and I try them to see how it sits well in my pouch...what are you eating in the puree meals>?

    Dumping :-( *sighs*

Yes very frustrating I just made an appt....with my doctor, and I made a call to my surgeons office) I know the healing part is tough but I hear of other people and their success and having no issues (and I understand we are all different) but it seems all I have is complaints. I just can not wait until I reach the point of comfort.

    Dumping :-( *sighs*

Now that I am on puree foods, I am having trouble keeping stuff down. the things I can keep down are applesauce, yogurts, mashed potatoes (kinda getting tired of it, no matter what I put on them) tuna fish (sometimes, had a bad episode today) I have tried chicken and turkey and even baby foods....is there anyone else having a problem in this area? (eggs, Protein shakes, broth are a no go for me....) I want to make sure I am getting in my Proteins but it just seems like nothing is agreeing with my new pouch. I will be making an appt with my Doctor, but would love some advice from you guys thanks! D.O.S. 1/9/13

    Newbie aboard

Hello everyone! First I have to say, I am so glad I have found this forum. I tried using this app on my Ipad but I had trouble trying to post. Anyway, I had my Gastric Bypass surgery on January 9, 2013 approximately a few days later I had to return to the hospital because they found an infection (liquid and a blood clot in my stomach which caused a lot of pain) My transition into my new life has been a little rough so far, I have lost 22lbs so far, but I am feeling a little discouraged and having some regrets. I am in stage 2 (puree foods) and having difficulties keeping little things down like eggs, Water and even my Protein Shake that I so loved before the operation (Isopure vanilla) and for some reason things taste like metal...(I swear I am going crazy...lol) What made me look for a forum like this is I really do not have any support, the people I do know that have had the surgery for some reason do not want to share their experiences. Anyway this is just a little about me and my journey thus far. I am hoping in the days to come my journey becomes easier, and hoping more that my new pouch can work with me along the way. Feel free to respond, give advice, recipes anything that can help. (excuse my grammar & errors) now off to fix my new profile
