First off you should have let her know her opinion was not needed nor appreciated and ask her did she have anything else better to do like "work" rather than listen to your conversation and add her 2 uneducated cents. When I decided to start my own journey I knew it would not be easy,... I knew the changes I was going to go through and I knew mentally I had to prepare for it... The only ones who knew I was going to do this surgery were my kids and my doctor, I have learned along the way not many people agree with this lifestyle change and not everyone wishes you well....but I did what was right for me and my children so I can live a healthier lifestyle. People will always fear what they do not know . I had a hell of a start after surgery and believe me none of it was easy....and even after surgery I had to have 3-4 endoscopy until I was able to keep even keep liquid down... You go from a football size stomach to a golf ball size pouch.... Emotionally you will be up and down, your new pouch may dump things you use to like and some days you go thru hell just because this lifestyle change is not easy.. It's like being a baby all over again and taking baby steps into a new life. But the days ahead get so much better.... I hate to hear people say weight loss surgery is a easy way out... Gastric bypass saved my life....I can breathe better, walking is no longer hard for me, playing with my kids doesn't wear me out... I am able to sit on one chair on the bus, I can finally look in the mirror and like the reflection I see, I"m able to cross my legs...My confidence is getting better and I feel like my journey will only get better from here. People need to understand WLS is not an easy way out You will get sick, throw up, go thru changes, hate the world, become depressed, have regrets, loose friends along the way, find new friends along the way You will loose boyfriends, husbands and people will talk shit...if this sounds easy, show me what hard is This is why I love this site, you have people in the same situation, with the same goals making progress daily....and personally I have talked to people across the world and I feel the support because only a person going through what your going through would understand. With that said either you can educate a person or ignore there ignorance, only you will reap the rewards! Until a person walks in your shoes they will never know what you have to deal with on a daily basis. I wish you all the best on your journey, the next time your co worker wants to listen while your on the phone give her something to hear.... for example act like you heard the boss of the company is downsizing and you saw her name on the list lol that will teach her

After the storm there is a rainbow
life_after_gastric_bypass posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery as some may know was on January 9, 2013, I had a rough start but a lot of people here told me the road ahead would get better and in all honesty it has For those who do not know, after my surgery, I had to return to the hospital the following week because I had an infection and a blood clot where the drain was, it was a pain in my stomach so bad that I couldn't even take a deep breath and it was really hard to get up and out of bed. I then got discharge only to return the following week because I kept throwing up everything I would eat, including Water. I was sent home again only to return again because I was still throwing up (yeah just my luck...smh) My Dr decided to do an endoscopy on me to stretch my pouch, my only fear was I did not want to be stretch to much because I wanted to continue to lose weight. (Mind you during this entire month I really have not been able to eat or drink too much so this procedure was very much needed.) In total I have had 3 endoscopy procedures. The 1st time they did not do anything, the 2nd time they stretched a little but I kept throwing up, and the one this week seems to be ok, because I have not thrown up at all!!!! I have lost 50lbs so far, I see the difference in my body, my skin, my clothes, my scars are fading away, asthma in control, and finally I do not need that awful scuba diving sleep apnea machine anymore And now that I can actually eat without getting sick, I feel somewhat human again. Lol I had so many regrets about doing this surgery only because I had a rough start, Now that things are running better for me; I know I made the right decision doing this gastric bypass. I just wanted to tell anyone here if you do run into problems or any issues, do not get discouraged These are just minor obstacles that will soon move out the way....believe me I am a living testament to this. I have a question, Now that I'm able to eat I wanted to know if we are allowed to eat meals like lean cuisine, healthy choice or smart ones? I am still following the menu plan my Dr gave me, (soft foods stage 3) I just wanted to see if anyone has tried these meals, if you like them or should I just do my own cooking? Guess I am looking for a variety in my diet? Thanks in advance Veronica -

Thanks When I did my sleep test 2 years ago I was pregnant at the time I gained a lot of weight, (past 300lbs) I snored a lot, my breathing was out of wack along with my asthma and the Dr wanted to make sure me and the baby were both ok because I would pause during my sleep. The weight had a lot to do with it, now since I am loosing my breathing has been better so I no longer use it. -

Here I go again :( (sorry long)

Ok here I go again, back in the hospital. My D.O.S Gastric bypass was on jan 9, 2013, I returned a second time, the following week after surgery due to a blood clot and liquid collecting in my abdomen. Now the 31st I had to come back to the ER because the entire week everything I consumed I had been throwing up. I have been here at this hospital every week of this month to be admitted. I am on the puree stage so certain things agree with me and other things do not. (At first I thought I was dumping, but I realized things weren't agreeing with my new pouch) Yogurts, puddings , Water and crystal light were the only things that agreed with me and sf Popsicles. I tried progreso Soup, mash potatoes, eggs, tuna, everything that was on my list to do for the puree stage was coming up at this point it was getting annoying. By 11:30pm I get myself to the emergency room explained what was going on and was told that they had to keep me so they can watch over me... Since i have been here they have me on a IV and I am still on my puree diet....they are giving me the exact same thing, that comes up but to show them what will happen, I ate it, only for it to come right back up. Anyway since it is Sunday my Dr is not here but speaking with another Doctor he said they will have to do a X-ray and may have to do another procedure to see if my pouch is open enough, if not they will have to stretch it open a little more so I am able to keep things down... I'm frustrated because my journey so far has not been easy, but I had a long talk with God last night to remove all my doubts, work with the doctors to heal me and allow my journey to kick off better than what it has been...in fact God spoke through me today because I told the Dr today I refuse to leave until we get this right, he agreed. .I have lost 34lbs, my current weight is 267 believe me I am happy about my weight loss, I just want to make sure that I am able to eat right, feel healthy and continue on my new journey. I know these are just little obstacles I am going through, but like I said people need to hear both sides good or bad about the surgery. I know this will pass and I will be ok, and that's when I will post up the good stuff. I use to have regrets but I have my big girl panties on and ready to move forward, I know there will be good and bad days, i am just praying for better days. I hear a lot of people saying oh people that do WLS are taking the easy way out...if this is what you call the easy way out I would have to disagree, there is nothing easy about trying to eat something puréed, and throwing it up, or being in pain because an infection happened...so for the closed minded folks that think this is a easy way out, walk a day in my plus size stilettos if you dare lol Keep me in prayers please, I will keep you posted on my X-rays and what is happening to my pouch. ( I never knew they could stretch out my new pouch if its to small, anyone else experienced this? -

I just wanted to say thanks again for the prayers:) I am still in the hospital, today i had the endoscopy procedure and they have me on the liquids and i have to say i feel so much better.. Right now they just want to monitor me to make sure what I consume stays down. So far, I do not have any discomfort like before and I have not thrown up yet, now I am ready to move forward and really ready to embrace my new journey...today was a good day, all smiles and grateful to God thanks again! -
