Pen Pal Goodie Boxes?
life_after_gastric_bypass replied to soontobehealthymom's topic in Food and Nutrition
it is great when you get someone and they grasp the whole idea of pen-pals...I LOVE talking, being supportive, sharing ideas, and really getting involved with my pen pal...of course we have ppl in our lives, but who better to understand your journey like someone who is going thru it with you plus it's great to get an email from someone checking on you, talking and interacting with u....that's where a friendship blossoms....when peoples don't talk and interact it's like pulling teeth and I am no dentist lol...I'm going to in box u here -

Pen Pal Goodie Boxes?
life_after_gastric_bypass replied to soontobehealthymom's topic in Food and Nutrition
Exactly!!! Definitely not fair when the other person doesn't send a box, doesn't speak and ask questions.. I enjoy meeting new people a bonding and making connections, if I didn't I would reply no...it's just frustrating when ppl sign up for it and not apply to the program. -
Pen Pal Goodie Boxes?
life_after_gastric_bypass replied to soontobehealthymom's topic in Food and Nutrition
i agree it is about getting to know people, but for some they don't get the concept....like i said i have met so far 2 beautiful women who are now in my life and they are stuck with me lol...and we talk often even as we get new pen pals, we still reach out to one another to check on each other and that's what its all about....the connection like i said this was not to bash anyone at all and I don't want anyone to feel I am saying this to them....I am just describing what a pen pal means to me, nothing more nothing less...this is a great thing tasha has started and i am so grateful to her...if it wasn't for tasha I wouldn't have gain the 2 friends/sisters I have because of this program.... -

You can go on youtube and look up Shaun Ts beach body, or rocking body and do that as a workout...its basic dancing you can do it in the comfort of your home and most important its fun...then if you search on youtube other exercises they have that too.... I refuse to pay for the gym, so I do my things at home and walk, and just staying active....Hope this helps good luck

Pen Pal Goodie Boxes?
life_after_gastric_bypass replied to soontobehealthymom's topic in Food and Nutrition
Tasha again I love how you put this thing together. You got people together from all over and put them together and for that I appreciate you. Its beautiful because if someone does not have the support they need they have a pen pal to talk too and get to know. Personally I have met 2 incredible women that I now can say are my sisters for life....and because of you we are constantly in touch and checking on one another and that's what makes this program beautiful. I am not one to be a debbie downer but I feel like some people do not understand what a pen pal is and it is very frustrating. Years back a pen pal was someone you would go back and forth with with written letters and getting to know one another and building relationships. I feel like some people and again this is just me and believe me I'm not complaining just want a "pen pal goodie box". I have participated before in this a few times and if you ask my pen pals I have done my part. what I do not agree with however is when a person right away sends me an e-mail asking for my address to send a box. How can someone truly send you anything with out getting to know you, 2nd although it feels like we are in a safe place this is still the internet so I am not comfortable that quick to say ok here's my address send what u think I may like...because I may send something and the person may not be on the stage I'm in.... I am a talker and I love to talk and get to know the person I am interacting with including their struggles, their likes and dislikes what we have in common and so on... how else will it work having a pen pal and knowing nothing about the other person? its impossible to know someone just by 1 email. I'm in the heart of NYC so I have access to almost anything and I have no issues finding things I need so for me its not about a box although I do appreciate it...its about the connection and friendships build. I am a great pen pal to have but it would be nice for some people not all to understand what a pen pal truly is...no one could understand who you are, what you like, how you feel, if they don't truly get to know you and again this is just my opinion. again as I stated Tasha I love what you have put together, it just gets frustrating to me when the other person doesn't apply to the pen pal part of it....they lose out on what the essence of this program is all about and that's the connection between 2 people. Personally i am in the heart of NYC I have access to many places so its not really about a box for me, but the friendships I welcome with open arms and that is priceless....thanks again..and sorry about this small vent its just frustrating. -

stall!
life_after_gastric_bypass replied to tlynn4love's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will have many stalls throughout this journey, but the best thing is we lose inches, lose sizes, feel better, we see a difference so don't be stressed by numbers.....protein, Water and exercise and hide the scale for a few days.... at 8wks your body is still trying to figure out what is going on its normal...you will lose weight, just keep a positive attitude and continue what your doing...and remember you will continue having stalls throughout your journey...good thing about it the scale does move along...its a process, and all of us are working process to progress Good Luck! -

Just got hit up about hormones...
life_after_gastric_bypass replied to D Jordan's topic in The Guys’ Room
Hormones do go crazy in both men and women after WLS, first the initial shock of the surgery, then your relationship with foods changes dramatically, you won't look at food the same, you cant eat the same, you will feel deprived, you will feel alone you will cry (food addiction is hell to kick, its like a drug) some get depressed, some have regrets (I had this in the beginning, not any longer) some people are cranky, some have the blues...some get annoyed with the people around them, because they can not understand or relate to your new journey your on. People in general will just annoy you...(just because). some sex lives are better now that the weight comes off....and your sexual appetite gets stronger and better (whewww i know for me it has lol) all of this does change its just for a short period so let ppl know to bare with you. you will smile, you will cry, you will get upset but you will notice progress and once all the hormones get in order, you will enjoy your new life journey.... lol its like having PMS times 10000000 lol joking.., maybe... good luck! we are here for u! -
