I found this little article about depression after gastric bypass. dy Image - Emotional Loss - Depression Patients may experience psychological turmoil the first year after surgery. Rapid weight loss may cause body image distortion, in which patients have a hard time adjusting to their new body image and develop anxiety or depression. They may say, “I look at the mirror and I don’t recognize the person I see” or "I feel fat” even though they have lost a great deal of weight. Body image distortion can be very stressful and cause anxiety and depression. About 1% of patients find that they are depressed after surgery, even though they have good weight loss and have not suffered any complications. Some patients develop depression because they can’t use food to satisfy their psychological needs any more. These feelings are generally felt within the first 4 to 8 weeks after surgery. Patients are not always aware how important food was to them. It may have been the only bright part of their day. Surgical weight loss may affect personal relationships for the better or worse. Single patients have found new partners and started families, but some married patients have divorced. Because of these dramatic changes, we think that postoperative psychological support is very important. -
I put my Protein powder in my coffee almost every morning. I add a scoop to a mug full of coffee. Start the day off with 30 grams of protein. I do cool it a bit first though. I've heard hot liquids can ruin the protein although when I've researched this, all I could really find were forums. Not sure if a regular cup of coffee is actually hot enough to ruin it or not. The protein I have never clumps either like I've heard.

HELP! Carnation instant breakfast?
Dorian replied to nesa83's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
And too much sugar. Most have 18 grams! -
I was so mad at the Penny episode too. There are so many people who would have loved to have been given the gift of wls and she just pissed it away! What a baby and ungrateful woman! I seriously wanted to slap her. What a poor example for her son. I loved how she didn't like the set up of where her bed was cuz she couldn't see the tv. So GET OUT OF THAT BED, WALK TO THE COUCH AND SIT WHERE YOU CAN SEE IT!! Geez.......

I wonder why it is so many of us suffer with depression. I am on meds too but was before the wls surgery. I am on effexor 75 mg 2 times a day. I sometimes think I need something else too. One would think that this wonderful body changes we have would make us so happy and outgoing and take care of all our problems. There has got to be more chemically that happens that we aren't aware of. I'm gonna research some of this. Meanwhile hang in there my friend. Us April peeps need you!! Love and Hugs! ♥ -

All WLS Supplements Are Just Too sweet
Dorian replied to SnowDaisy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's very common for things to be too sweet post op. I wasn't even able to drink crystal light right away. My taste buds have gotten better and I can now handle crystal light and most protein shakes so it may get better for you too! I drank unjury chicken soup when that happened to me, even though I wasn't too fond of it. -
Dannon light and fit Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese, low carb high protein granola, sf popsicles, crystal light, canned soup and salad are a few of mine.

I just realized that today I am 100 down from surgery day on 4-22. I was 303 that day. My high was 340 so I lost 37 before surgery. I thought I'd lose more by 9 months post op too but I can't exercise much due to my back so I think that's why. Either way, I'm ok with where I'm at. More would be nice obviously but my happiness doesn't depend on it! Good luck on the way to your goal!! Keep me posted. -
