So getting back on normal foods, wondering what kind of cereal to try.
Dorian replied to Sunlight61's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try Bear Naked granola. It is low carb and high protein. I haven't had it in milk yet but add the 1/4 cup to my yogurt, dannon light and fit Greek. I stay away from cereal since I dumped twice on it. Most, I feel, has too much carbs for me at a time. -
anyone have a tummy flu?
Dorian replied to loving.life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the flu a few months ago at about 8 months post op. I felt it was alot worse than pre op flu. Since the pouch is so small, I felt I was dry heaving so much because there was nothing to come out. It was horrible! -
And we will keep on helping as long as you stay around!!

I would've told her to read one of the books in her store and gain some knowledge before she voiced her opinion. She is simply uneducated about the procedure. I would also complain to management.

I eat spicy Mexican all the time, mostly my hubby's salsa or pico de gallo. Yummy!!

Congrats on your decision to better yourself! You are on the right path with the pre op weight loss and exercise. Doing those things after surgery will help this tool work for you! Keep researching and learn as much as you can about this. It is the best thing you can do for yourself! Best of luck to you! Any questions or problems, ask!

You are moving in the right direction! Researching and knowing what is available is the best thing you can do for yourself. Remember that what works for others may not work for you but to keep trying. I still can't eat chicken 10 months out, but every once in awhile I'll try. I highly suggest getting some sample protein powders to try post op instead of buying the big tubs. And give it some time as well. I couldn't drink any at first cuz they were all too sweet but now it is better. Good luck!

I am 10 months out and drink my coffee every morning. I also buy a coffee protein shake mix that is so good. There are several kinds such as Chike, Click and Big Train. My favorite is the Optimum Nutrition brand coffee protein. I did give my stomach a rest after surgery and did decaf for awhile but now since I gave up all soda, I figured alittle coffee is my treat! I had this prior to surgery too. Was treated for about a month and then had a follow up egd and was clear so I could have the surgery. Good luck.

What's your favorite protein shake?
Dorian replied to niassy151's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Any of the Optimum Nutrition brand shakes. I've tried three different flavors so far and loved them all. They had absolutely NO protein flavor. They don't have any samples right now but I am on an email list for when they get them back. I want to try all of them! -
Yay for you my friend!! So happy that you've had such success! You've been an inspiration and great help for me for sure. Great job! ♥

Remedy for constipation?
Dorian replied to jlmckee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had bypass and also am on narcotics for back issues so I've had ALOT of constipation problems! I take a stool softener twice a day and a double dose of miralax (generic)every other day. I sometimes even have to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate to get going. I worked as a cna for years and used to laugh about people obsessing about their bowels and now I'm right there with them!! -

The way that I look at it is that if you hadn't had surgery, you would've had all that extra weight, and co - morbidities to deal with ALONG with the crises. You were much healthier and stronger this way around! -

I think this is an awesome idea! I don't know of anyone around my area except for one person. I would be super interested in this and helping in any way I could! -
I haven't tried them but just looked it up. I could be wrong but seems like alot of carbs to me. My optimum nutrition shakes have around d 2 or 3 grams of carbs and taste awesome.

Add some unflavored Protein powder or even vanilla protrin powder to this and boost your protein! Would be good I think.

OMG I'm so sorry for what you've been through! Definitely something no one should have to go through. I hope you have a good support system my friend. My heart goes out to you. Congrats on your loss. You are looking awesome, very pretty! Youve been on here before right? You look familiar to me. This is my favorite thread too. These women are the best support for both post bypass, and all other aspects of life. Love them all. Will be thinking of you! Take care. -
You and i should go visit ajustice in CO! We could give this a try for our pain!

Family and friends cannot make the decision for you. Although you may value their opinions, it is ultimately your body, health, and decision. My mom once said " whatever you do, please don't have gastric bypass". I was terrified to tell her when I had the surgery scheduled but now she sees it was a great thing for me. I agree with everyone; do your research. I would say that it would be a wise decision for you even though your weight isn't horrible. You have the family history and a few other issues that would improve from surgery. Do what YOU feel is right for YOU! Best of luck to you. Any questions; please ask. This is an awesome support group!

Seems ok to use if you ask me.
