  1. I am 5 months post op. I am wondering if it is possible to drink too much water every day. I get at least 100oz or more a day. Is this ok or too much? Some mornings I wake up with swollen hands and arms and im wondering if it is from so much water. Thanks for your help!

    water

Thanks for the responses everyone! I will do some moe research and ask the surgeon when I see him next month!
  3. Take it easy girl! You only have one back and you need to take care of it! I cant imagine working at all right now with the way my back is and here you are working almost full time!! I thought losing the weight would help my back too but it hasn't. The doctors all said to lose weight and it would help. Guess they were wrong too. Listen to your doctor and stay home and enjoy it!
  4. I'll send some of my mother in laws homemade pinto beans. Haven't had a problem in a few weeks!!
  5. Not fun huh? It's nice to know I'm not alone!
  6. I didnt walk nearly as much as I should have due to the left side pain. I spent most of my time sleeping!

    What ya eating tonight?

My mother in law is here from texas for a few months so we have had a constant supply of homemade pinto beans! Good protein and keeps me regular!
  8. Thanks guys! On a positive note the tilapia stayed down this time so I got the benefit of the 20 grams of protein! Woohoo!
  9. I was doing some research and came across this article. I thought id share since we will be all entering the 6th month post op soon. I thought it had some interesting stuff in it! http://gastricbypasstruth.com/life-after-gastric-bypass/the-first-6-months-your-honeymoon-period/
  10. Too funny! We all do it I guess!
  11. I am amazed how some people on here have surgery with their high weight being where I am now! I am at 238 but feel ok here. Size 18 is ok for me. Sure id like to be smaller and will be I think, but I feel comfortable here. I feel good at a weight were other people are having surgery. I know height has a part but it still amazes me. I think I would want to stop around 170 or 180.
  12. I just renewed my license last month. Since I was 100 lbs down I actually was proud to put my real weight down. The first time EVER!
  13. I still sometimes look in the mirror and say oh my gosh! Even 100 lbs down I still see the fat person and every roll! My 18 yr old gets so mad at me and says she doesnt understand what I am seeing! How come I didnt "see" that I had topped the 340 lb mark? Our self perceptions are so askew its not funny! I am stuck around 238 right now. Would like to get to at least 170. Lower would be awesome of course, but as long as the spine surgeon is gonna help me, the numbers dont really matter to me. I just want to be pain free!!! And anywhere I end is better than 340 where I started!
  14. Cant wait until the 23rd. My back pain is back and not feeling well. I cant even stand up straight today. I feel a catch in the bones. It feels like they are stuck when I try to straighten up. Sitti g with ice and pain meds. Not a good day! Plus I tried tilapia again and it is gonna come back up any minute.
  15. Awesome job girl! We should start a "DOWN 100" club! Its a great feeling huh?
  16. I have a severe slippage of the spine; a 3+ on a scale to 5. Also have degenerative disc disease and some fractures of the bones off the vertebrae. Have suffered with sciatica for years and it is now down both legs. I can feel the actual bones getting "caught" at times and cant stand up straight. I am having a fusion at 2 levels and some other stuff on December 12th of this year. I will find out exactly what the surgeon decided to do at my next pre op appointment. This is my reason for RNY too. Have always been big and probably wouldnt have had surgery just for that reason. I was told I needed back surgery about 4 times before I finally was sick enough of the pain and the life I was leading to actually do something about it!
  17. Sounds like a special time! ♥♥
  18. Looking awesome! You are really beautiful!
  19. Surgery was on Monday, I came home on Wednesday. I had the pain pump for first 24 hours and then was switched to oral meds. I had a liquid percoset when I came home which I took regularly! I agree with ArmyOfMe in that I was gonna take it as much as I could cuz I just had major surgery!
  20. I believe that all of us who have had RNY have some sort of food addiction. I can say that I have succeeded in this process because I knew that I really NEEDED to succeed. For me it was matter of daily back pain and the need for back surgery that pushed me to RNY. With the pain, my life had changed so drastically and I became very depressed and isolated myself from my family and friends. I needed to lose the weight to fix my back and get back to living. I agree with oldoneyoungagain in that dont do this if you are mot truly ready or you will end up resentful. It is a total life change and one that you must be committed to. I am 5 months post op and it is still hard to pass up food at times and I have moments when I think, "oh I dont care how much sugar it has. I want it!" When you are able to walk away and not eat what you would really like to eat, it is very empowering. My addiction to food will be lifelong im sure, but my will to be successful in this process will overcome that addiction! Best of luck to you on your journey!
