1. I met my surgeon right away and saw him, and the nutritionist every one of the 6 months pre op. It was nice because I developed a great relationship with him beforehand.
2. OMG! I just noticed this this morning. I took a shower and put on what my daughter calls my "hoochie" yoga pants. My thighs weren't touching like they normally do! Yay us!

Patiently waiting!

I think everyone goes through it! I didn't sleep at all the night before surgery and then was dozing as they were prepping me. I also slept when I should've been up walking afterwards.
6. Gonna be frigid here too in WI! Went to walmart today and it was swamped!! All I wanted was my yogurt and I waited in line for 30 minutes. Crazy! I am still waiting for my bowel trouble to end and hopefully I can lose 4 lbs overnight too! I've taken miralax 4 days (double doses) and nothing. Been 7days! I bought some magnesium stuff but am afraid to try it! UGH!

Patiently waiting!

I found this site about 4 months pre op. I have made some great friends here and the support I received is invaluable! I was slightly addicted to the site and to learning as much about the procedure as I possibly could. I highly suggest that when you have your date, you search out or start a group for that months surgeries. Having a group of people going through the same things on the same time line as you will be a big help to you. Good luck on your journey! You WONT regret it!

Grieving food?

Your taste actually changes. Here is an article that describes it. http://www.hazletonhealthandwellness.org/news-and-events/press-releases/change-of-smell-or-taste-after-bariatric-surgery.html

Is this 'normal'?

Craving salt can mean you are low on Vitamins and minerals so make sure you are taking them! You won't get a full feeling until the nerves in the stomach heal so just stick to the plan and eat the amounts your surgeon recommended. Best wishes to you and your hubby for success! 10. Had my follow up with the spine surgeon today. The X rays showed what he called a "halo" around one of the screws they used for the fusion. He said this is a sign that the screw is slipping or had slipped. I go back in 6 weeks for a re check. He said if they still see the halo, we would discuss the plan. If not, I could start some therapy. Overall I have been doing quite well; only having pain once in awhile and not as intense. Hoping this "halo" goes away and doesn't mean more surgery. I want to be on the mend in 2014! Weight is stuck at 208-210 for a few weeks now. Also having some bowel trouble so maybe once that clears, I'll go down a few pounds! Hope everyone in my neck of the woods stays warm! Gonna get mighty cold! And go Packers!
11. I'm looking just about the same as you! You are not alone! I'd rather have the wrinkled flab than the fat! I'm in a 14/16 and am stuck at 208. Wishing the scale would move again!

What Protein Shakes Do You Use?

Try looking on amazon. They have many varieties and many have some that fit in your budget. mine is $55 but is 5 lbs and lasts a long time. I think it's 70 servings. That actually equals out to about the same as walmarts 2lb jar.
19. Wow that is amazing!! Great job!

What Protein Shakes Do You Use?

Most protein powder can be mixed with just water. I have a mocha cappuccino one now and it tastes great with water. I used to mix with milk but I find it too heavy. I think it is mostly a matter of taste.

What Protein Shakes Do You Use?

Your body can only absorb 30 grams of protein at a time so anything over that is not necessary. The shakes I buy are all around 5 grams or less of sugar, but I look for 0 grams. Some will have 20 or more grams of sugar and you definitely need to stay away from those. Read every label! Here is the nutritional facts from 2. Hope this helps!
