Very true DL! I just had this discussion with my mom the other day! I had a person I called my bff. After wls and back surgery, I found that she was really only a drinking buddy that I used to work with. She has been basically non existent in two of the biggest challenges I have faced. It hurt that she wasn't there to support me. Sometimes you just have to move on and focus on those who have always been there, all of the time.

Sugar free popsicles; outshine by Edy's are awesome! Dannon has a light and fit Greek yogurt that is awesome and full of protein. I also had cream soups but wasn't a fan. Sugar Free jello and pudding went down good but have really no nutritional value. The first week it is about staying hydrated according to my surgeon. I added the protein in at about a week out. Good luck!

Fall down 7 times. Stand up 8!
Dorian replied to Kookichu's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on your decision to become a happier and healthier you! Your story sounded so much like mine, I had to respond! I have always been bigger but still lived life, went out and had fun, and was basically happy. Then my back got bad. One day I looked in the mirror and wondered when the hell I got HUGE??!! How did I let myself get that big? I always saw myself as smaller in my mind; never seeing how big I had gotten until I would see a photograph. Then I was shocked!! I started at 340lbs, was 303 at surgery in April 2013 and am now at 208. I lost enough weight to be able to have my back surgery and am recovering and feeling so much better. I will be following your progress so keep posting! Best of luck on Monday! You've got this! -
Pre-op question...?
Dorian replied to *Misty*Raine*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my pre op visits with my nutritionist, I would pick one thing each month to work on. The first I gave up caffeine, the second was sweets and so on. By my surgery date, I had lost 40 lbs and it no longer bothered me to not have those things. It was a great way to gradually get into the change. -
Need protein drink suggestions, very picky drinker & eater
Dorian replied to scp1973's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Check out my bariatric pantry.com. You can order samples of matrix and syntrax nectar so she can try out different flavors. Nashua Nutrition.com also has some samples that are reasonable. There you can pick from several brands and flavors. I have ordered from both places numerous times and they are very quick. -

Great job on your loss! I fluctuate between the same 3 lbs as well and have for awhile too! Gets old but I am thankful for the 132 I've lost so I shouldn't complain. -

I'm GLAD I did! It makes me realize that I have to stay focused and work at it. I was HONESTLY so strict about stuff and then this last week I've been having trouble. Hopefully I got this little bump in the road over with. Dumping is horrible! I don't want to go thru this again! -

Thanks so much. Today I am needing encouragement instead of being able to give it. I just dumped big time. Only the second time it happened. I was just so down that I ate some cereal I shouldn't have and the a handful of chocolate chips. Don't know why I did this when I have come so far and never cheat! I guess I thought that since I'm not losing, I may as well eat what I want. I paid for it and am glad! -

The dreaded STALL...
Dorian replied to Birthsjourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 8 months post op and have been in a stall as well for awhile. The weight loss has always been fairly consistent except for a few stalls, and usually by now I break it. No matter how positive I am, it does get to me, like it has today! Sometimes it doesn't matter how right you do things; our bodies will sometimes do what they want! LOL We WILL get through it. Hang strong! -

I am feeling very frustrated today! The scale is not moving at all and I am out of ideas! I know we stall but honestly, today I'm over it! Maybe I'm done losing but I hope not. Can't wait for this back to heal so I can exercise cuz I know that would help. I eat right, drink water constantly and get my protein in. I should walk but it's been too cold, and I'm super afraid to slip and fall. I can't drive yet to go to the mall and walk either. Sorry for the self pity. I'm having an off day! Thanks for listening friends. -
Congrats!!

Hope it's nothing big my friend! Stay warm! -
Good for you! I was 340 at my highest so right where you are. I am almost 8 months out and down to 208! It is an amazing tool and this site has a bunch of amazing people on it! I suggest you look for a January thread so you will have people having surgery around when you are. Then you can compare with others going through the same things at the sa.me time. Best wishes to you! P.S. You are gorgeous!

Gastric bypass rny long term
Dorian replied to BriWLS's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm just 8 months out but these are excellent questions and I'm very curious too about the long term. I never really thought about this beforehand. Great thread! -
I had over 100 samples that I had either bought or gotten for free. It was awesome after surgery to have these. Most were too sweet right away but I could drink them later on. I used the syntrax nectar and matrix too and they were all good but now I like the Optimum Nutrition best. If you go to my bariatric pantry or Nashua Nutrition you can order samples for fairly cheap.

I absolutely love the Optimum Nutrition shakes. I get them on amazon. I have had coffee flavor and mocha Cappuccino so far. Next I'm ordering the chocolate coconut. They are around $50 but the container is 5 lbs and lasts for awhile! And no Protein flavor at all! Can be mixed with Water or milk and tastes good either way.

I have dealt with chronic back pain for years so I get exactly where you are coming from! I actually had wls to lose weight so I could have back surgery. After seeing several spine surgeons they all agreed that I needed my back fixed but no one would do it at 340lbs. I couldn't exercise at all, not even walking. I was severely depressed and drank alot. I get your frustration with weight coming on but being unable to exercise. But you do still have the tool in place to be able to change! I have heard that starting over with the liquid diet and going back to the basics will help "restart" your body and the tool. It IS NOT TOO LATE MY FRIEND! Take baby steps and you will be successful once again. We are all here to help you and encourage you! I wish you the best of luck. You can do it!

What ya eating tonight?
Dorian replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is -4 with a wind chill of -28 right now in WI. Took a bag of garbage out the back door and just about blew over. Even the dogs don't want to go out! -

Not sure. I'm 8 months out. I could have soup like chili in my puréed stage if I chewed well so I'm guessing this soup would be the same. -
It takes time for the nerves to works again. Weigh or measure everything as your Dr ordered and you will be fine and not overeat! After awhile you will start to feel the fullness. Best wishes!

Nachos with all the toppings minus the chips! Taco meat is one of my go to's. Sits great all the time and is so yummy!
