My taste buds have changed too. Some days I feel I can't find anything that tastes good to eat. What I think food use to taste like doesn't for me anymore! -

I absolutely love the mojito one!! It's so good!! -
You might try increasing your calories. I had a stall for a few weeks and read that anything under 800 calories puts your body in starvation mode. I also started doing some cardio which helped too!!

Bladder Infections

I have not had a uti, but I am really worried about this because I sometimes have a hard time getting all my fluids in. A friend of mine that has been struggling with this started taking cranberry pills- buy them in the vitamin section- and she says that this has helped. I need to get some but just thought I'd share- maybe this will help! -
What surprised you?

I would have to say a few things- 1- how hard it was to drink liquids after surgery for the first six weeks or so. I just thought it would be the food that I would have to worry about but that went down great! You have to continue to sip sip sip all day long. First few weeks are rough! Also I expected to be up and running like my normal self a few weeks after surgery- but not the case!! It took me about six weeks to actually heal and literally on that six week mark- it was night and day!! I would just recommend that you remember to rest and let your body heal and that it gets better!!! -

Don't get discouraged! I know exactly how you feel. I was the same way at that time- called my dr and he told me to double up on my antacid Meds- I did and in a few days felt completely better and could hold food down. I say the first 6-7 wks are really hard no matter what. I'm 7 wks and can actually eat and drink without discomfort now. You might want to look into the antacid.

What ya eating tonight?
manahane03 replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I have to say I had an amazing day!! I'm 7wks out today and finally feel like I can eat and drink with no pain/discomfort. I went to a conference today- I was initially worried about the lunch but had salad (for the first time) and a baked chicken breast, then had a taco salad for dinner- it was great not stressing myself out whether or not my pouch would agree with me today!!! Those little milestones really make a difference!!!! -

Food stuck!
manahane03 replied to ellaclairesmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 wks out and last week I got food stuck. I think I took too big of a bite and I felt as though it was just stuck in my throat too. I ended up drinking a couple sips of water and it came back up. My dr said it can happen and that if you drink carbonation like a drink of coke or something- it hurts but it will either make it go down or come back up. Water did the trick for me though. Good luck! -
Great, thanks for the tip!

I agree!! I think i might order some to see how it tastes. I found it online only. I'll let you know!!!
-
I was like you before surgery- I went out and bought a lot of variety, but honestly I'm 6wks out and most if the food I bought is still in my pantry!! I think you'll find that after surgery your taste buds will change. I find applesauce and yogurt to be my go to food, and the taste hasn't gotten old yet!
-
You also have to remember that this is a whole lifestyle change. I am a food addict and have coped all my life with food. Since this surgery it has made me learn different coping skills besides eating crap! Keep a log- what are you doing when you get the urge to binge, what are you feeling when it happens. This can help you figure out your triggers and learn a new technique other than eating to make yourself feel ok. This is a hard journey but we all can make it!!
