I would think that the fast food taco is probably high fat- I think that can cause dumping too. I was told high fat and sugar can cause it. I'm going to try homemade tacos with ground turkey tonight so hopefully it will go ok!!!!

You can buy it online. But hyvee has individual packets for sale that are nice so you can see if you like them! My hyvee has it in the organic health section. I just tried strawberry kiwi and with my added fruit it was a little too sweet for me. But I really like the Caribbean cooler one. Going to try the coffee tomorrow! -

Ya I have some powders from Nector that I really like, they are 28g then with the Greek yogurt it bumps it up to 40g or more. I usually just add a little water or you could do skim milk too. I use a variety of the frozen fruits. They work for me! -

Help not up to par
manahane03 replied to Harlee1106's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey! I also had surgery July 22. I just went back to work this week and am exhausted too. My food isn't sitting well and I'm having problems getting my liquids down. I talked with my dr and he thinks it's most likely the stress of going back to work and just having major surgery too. I want to be able to jump up and do so much but I have to remember I do still have limits- it's only been a month!!! Hang in there and take it easy! Hopefully we will both feel better!! -
Hey everyone, I am 4 1/2 wks post op and really have been doing great. Every food that I've tried has stayed down without any pain or problems. I went back to work this week and since doing so I have had horrible problems getting good and liquids down. Not sure if it is the stress of going back or what. Today I have only been able to eat 1/2 a scrambled egg and maybe get about 10 oz of fluid down. I can eat it but as soon as I start eating I have a lot of pain- no nausea or vomiting just uncomfortable pain. It's painful to drunk too. I thought I was over this stage but maybe not. Anyone else had this problem?? I'm worried about a structure.

Having a hard time..I feel like giving up..binging...need encouragement
manahane03 replied to wannaBme's topic in Food and Nutrition
You can get through this!! Everyone has a stall usually around 3-4 wks- I'm in mine too. I don't know what to say about the diet, all I can say is that no one is perfect and if you eat an Oreo fine but just get back to where your suppose to be. This is life now and to be on a year long diet I think is a lil unrealistic. You need to follow your drs guidelines but learn to adapt them to your new lifestyle. If you are hungry, eat 4 oz instead of 2. Try what works for you. I always remind myself that this is my lifestyle now not my diet. Good luck, you can do it. -
Question about meds post op.
manahane03 replied to hermione394's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually talked to my dr about this at my f/u cuz i am struggling to take some of my Meds. He suggested cutting all the pills in half and trying that way. I'm still on metformin for my pcos and cutting it in half helps a lot! -
Im 6 weeks postop: What is an average or normal
manahane03 replied to elli'smommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think after the first two to three weeks leveling out is normal. I'm almost four weeks and am starting to go through this too. I also am experiencing acne- I have heard that fat cells carry hormones like estrogen and due to rapid weight loss our hormones can be out of rack for awhile! -
I'm not there yet but my nut said at 6 wks I could have Cheerios, rice crispy and or Special K cereals! I've had the Special K in the past and thought it was good.

After major surgery you have a chance of developing a blood clot up to thirty days post op. you will have to do lovenox to thin your blood to help prevent the blood clots. It's really not bad- it's a small thin needle.

I was scared to do it too. I had to do them for a week after surgery. But it really wasn't that bad- just don't think about it- I counted to three and just did it and it really didn't hurt! Ask the nurse before you leave to give you some tips to help at home! Good luck!!!

water making me sick!
manahane03 replied to Crkrjax76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This makes so happy to hear!! I drink cold and room temp drinks but still hard to get down. I am 3 wks post op. I cannot wait for the day I can drink without hurting!!! Thanks for sharing! -
I'm having the same problems- not with pain meds but with my allergy Meds. I have horrible allergies but is usually controlled by my Meds but ever since surgery- 3 wks post op I cannot stop sneezing and am miserable. I have read about other people saying that their thyroid Meds aren't really absorbing and they have to chew them. Kinda frustrating cuz my surgeon didn't really educate me on malabsorption. I would recommend getting liquid pain Meds. I am trying to get chewables for all my Meds.

The time really does fly by!

My insurance required a six months diet period with my pcp- so after paperwork, I waited 7 months after I attended a seminar.
-
Hey! I'm from kc and had surgery about 3wks ago! Nice to meet you!
-
The pain does suck at first but it will get better, you are just two days out, you have to realize that you are going to be super weak and can't do a lot. For the first week, just taking a shower exhausted me. My advice- rest, you can get up and walk around but you aren't going to be able to walk a mile each time. As long as your getting up throughout the day you will be fine. Don't try and take on the world two days post op!!! Also go slow with foods if your able to get jello that's good. For the first week all I could get down was Popsicles! I would stay away from the oatmeal for awhile. Good luck, take some deep breaths and don't stress!
-
Hey everyone! I am 6 days post op today. I am doing really good with eating jello and Popsicles, but for some reason it hurts to drink liquids. After a few drinks which I do space out I feel as though there is a huge gas bubble that is caught in my throat. Is this normal? Or should I be concerned? I eat a lot of Popsicles and this doesn't seem to bother me. But not sure if this is normal. Thanks for the help!!!!
-
I think you need to call your surgeon and go see him. I don't think that's normal. Good luck, sorry your going through this!

Help! Low Oxygen Level
manahane03 replied to Country Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't go he on oxygen but on more b/p Meds which was really disappointing. I had surgery July 22 and am almost 3 weeks post op. I'm off all the b/p Meds now. Surgeon said that due to pain and my body stressed after surgery that's why my b/p was elevated. Just relax at home and focus in healing- your body will slowly adjust!! Good luck! -
Hey I'm 29 too but am only 2 1/2 weeks post op. before surgery I had this same problem- I had lost 75lbs and then got engaged- I gained it plus more back. It's so easy to let your guard down when you feel so comfortable in a relationship. I know how hard it is not to gain it back. Hopefully your boyfriend understands and will support you with this. You can do it! We are here to help- just remember to put yourself first rather than your relationship. That's hard I know! Keep us posted!!
