A whole new set of problems!
Marisela replied to futuremrsparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cook smaller portions, I've never loved cooking but I do like to cook for myself, I was all into cooking right after surgery, and then just like you I started losing interested as it took me so long to get things done and I would immediately feel full and did not even save my leftovers cause I ended up throwing it away eventually cause I never have for dinner what I had for lunch. My only "big meal" is at lunch, so I am totally with you. What I started doing is freezing small portions of fish, chicken, lean meat and cook only that, so no left overs, or minimal leftovers that it does not hurt to throw away, so I always eat "freshly" cooked meals, don't feel like it is a waste of time and got back to enjoy cooking. I started buying LAWRY's marinades, so it takes no longer than 30 min to marinade my chicken, I have many different flavors so I don't get bored of the same flavors. I hope you regain the joy of cooking, takeout will ALWAYS have more calories/fat than what you cook for yourself at home! -
Congratulations!! I love success stories, they are always an inspiration.... and size 6?? all I can say is WOW!!!! simply amazing!

You will do great!! I enjoyed every pre-op minute as I've enjoyed every minute post-op! I can't believe I am 5 months out, it has been the best decision I have ever made in my entire life!!! You will really do great. My best advice, walk, walk, walk... I read this advice before my surgery and now I understand why it is the best advice, it helps your intestines to work again and the gas to come out. The sipping is also extremely important. Drink all day long, my mom would even wake me up to drink some more, she was terrified of me getting dehydrated, now I appreciate her not letting me sleep all day long! C'ya in the losers bench !!!

I've had salad since about 1.5 months out... I am 5 months post op and LOVE my salads! I don't know if it is the freshness of it or what, but I try to have salad every day (with my fish or chicken), I can tolerate it just fine.

I've lost 84 lbs in 5 months but I have no problem with my schedule and food. I have a protein shake for breakfast and another one for dinner, eat one of the following as a snack: jell-o, chobani yog, low-fat string cheese, cottage cheese with fruit, low fat turkey snacks or some trail mix, and have fish or chicken for lunch with either salad or steamed veggies. I always get more than 80g of protein per day. I stay away from meat, I did not love it before surgery either, so I stick to mostly fish.

I've heard/read many horror stories with US doctors as well. We cannot generalize and say stay away from Mexicali though, I had my surgery in Mexicali, with Dr. Aceves and I have had ZERO complications, him and his team are the best. -

Help travrling to the Mayan Riveria
Marisela replied to moniquesgettingft's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only avoid using credit cards in gas stations, that's where it's supposed to be more "dangerous", but you can use dollars everywhere. I agree with SoccerMomma, stick to deli meats and cheese, and of a course a Margarita so you can drink to us!!! -

hahahahaha, survive? really??? hahahahaha... I would take some trail mix for snacks but there will be plenty of food for sure that you can have.. how far post op are you??? I would stick to fish or chicken as I've never been a meat lover, even before surgery, you can go to a local market and buy some greek yogurt, yoplait should be good and they have some greek version of it. -

There are some DASANI and CRYSTAL LIGHT drops to flavor your water with "0" calories, that might help you with the water problem... I am ok with water so I ended up giving the drops away.... you can find them at walmart or target.

I am 5 months post op and still remember my pre-op day like it was yesterday... You will be in the loser's bench in no time and enjoying every minute of it. My prayers are with you for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. You will do great.

I am also addicted to chobani (pineapple), I just recently started adding some quaker granola cereal (about 1/8 cup) and I feel soooooo full that I think I will continue to have it plain, I just love chobani pineapple yog

I tried and liked the Old Wisconsin Turkey sticks, they are low in fat, good flavor and I think they have about 4g of protein each, I get them at wal-mart, and highly recommend them.

I have the flex.. I liked it more at the beginning than I do now... I think it misses many steps in the count, and the very active minutes I am still trying to understand, I walk/jog for an hour and apparently it only takes the jogging as very active minutes vs at the beginning it would take the whole hour as very active minutes... I guess it is just a matter of understanding it. I do recommend though as I have it linked to my fitness pal, it works well overall.
