Here's an update...I saw my new psych doc yesterday. I chose her for a few reasons, but when i met with her, as we were going over my medical history, of course I told her that I recently had bypass in December. As it turns out, she has had a good deal of experience with bypass patients. She explained how meds are different for us because of the changes our surgery causes to absorption rates and how when she is prescribing for a bypass patient, she typically uses not only different meds, but different forms, such as under the tongue tablets, melting strips, liquid,or even a patch. Most of the medicine will be absorbed before even reaching your GI tract, either through your skin or the mucus membranes in your mouth. Its much easier to calculate how much of the med I am actually getting without the guesswork of what amount is being absorbed in my GI tract. Funny thing is...I'm a nurse of all things-I feel like this should have occurred to me, but I guess when I'm on the other side of things as the patient, I have other things on my mind and benefit alot from getting a good explanation. It makes so much sense. She did keep me on the oral Zoloft that my primary doc put me back on a month ago, but also added a sublingual tablet of another medication. So if anyone is experiencing something like this and you are looking for a doctor, it really pays to look around for one who knows enough about our "different" bodies so that we can get the best treatment possible.

Awesome girlie!! that is such a fantastic feeling!! So happy for you!

Its no gimmick. We invested in a VitaMix-expensive but so worth it, i swear that thing could grind up gravel. My hubby likes the veggie based juices, tomatoes, celery, spinach, apple, lemon, even a little jalapeno, and other assorted things just depending on what we have around. If you think that after bypass you could possibly eat all those veggies,it would take all day! With the VitaMix,all the fiber stays, you dont even have to peel anything. I wasnt as sold on it as he was,so every morning he makes his own and just gives me a small glass-and just like the post before-no more constipation! I know we have to be so concerned with getting our protein in, and juicing is a great way to still get the fruit, veggies, and fiber.

Clothing Size Wishes
My4Boys replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started at 20 pants and 2x tops. I am 4 months out from my surgery, and am size 10 pants and L tops. I'd love to be a M top but the "girls" wont allow that...lol...as we said, we all want to keep those curves this weekend, was out shopping and actually bought a size 8 jeans...and they fit nicely! I'd like to be a 6, but I am just happy to be able to shop in the "normal - sized" sections. Im very happy with the size changes, but am still too preoccupied with what that damn scale says. -
I know the day before is a hard one, a million thoughts and feelings flying around in your head. You will do great, this surgery will help you be around longer for your babies, not to mention being able to do more things with them and be an active mom for them.please let us know how you do, sending good thoughts your way for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery!

Of course you should keep posting on here, this is a place to vent, to get advice AND support when sometimes its hard to find elsewhere. Life isnt always good news and candy coated happy positive crap, so if people dont like your posts, they dont have to read them, they are free to go on to another topic and not give you a hard time about yours. We've all been through many of the same experiences, we should be here for each other. As a mom, you are absolutely right-those babies come first and he was kind of an ass (sorry) for not understanding that. These little boys just somketimes never fully grow up and still have these parts of them that want to hang with their friends and party and forget about their real responsibilities. And after the week you had with the seizure and everything, he is lucky you were even able to go with him to The Masters, then while there you get so sick, you poor thing. The least of his worries should be that you were walking a little too slow for him. I hope youre feeling better, sending good thoghts and hugs your way!!

I Am Officially (But Just Barely)... OVERWEIGHT!
My4Boys replied to Catgyrl68's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Good for you, I am in the same neighborhood, lol. Dont underestimate what size you might end up-I started this journey at a 20, and this weekend bought size 8 jeans....I was so happy when I got into a 12, but before I knew it that 12 became a 10, and now it looks like even that size will be behind me soon. My surgery was a month before yours. You are doing awesome!! -
Thats great, just what i need is more hormones screwing things up,lol-isnt that just the story of our lives? What you said makes alot of sense though. I see my new doc this week and have good days and bad-but I am looking forward to more good!

LOVE this post. Ever since my surgery in December, I cannot stop myself from getting on that hateful thing every single day...even though I know I shouldn't and that its just driving me CRAZY. I tell myself....I started a size 20. I am down to a size 10....and soon to be in single digits!! My head knows this, but then the next morning, there I am again. Tomorrow morning, I will think back to this post and feel better

thanks for the support ladies, I know others have been where I am, but it still helps to get the support. I have days that are good and days that suck a little, but all in all, I'm hanging in there. I am super lucky to have a wonderfully supportive husband and family. I have many blessings that I am thankful for every day, it helps keep things in perspective.

I am so frustrated. I haven't lost a single pound in 4 weeks!
My4Boys commented on Done with this's blog entry in CristyWinters' Blog
I asked my doc about these plateaus as well, he said the same thing-in my head I may WANT to lose 100 lbs., but maybe 70-80 is where my body will decide we end up. I guess I can deal with that, but I want that 100! -
Hi there, I would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have!

I was very fortunate, it moved along very quickly for me. First I talked it over with my OB/Gyn at my yearly visit in October 2012 and she recommended my wonderful surgeon. I attended one of his seminars and decided RnYwas the way to go. Then I met with him one on one, attended one session with a nutritionist, one pre op exercise session, and my psych eval which was only one visit. By then it went to my insurance for approval and within two days I had authorization and my surgery was scheduled for 12/13. The rest is history!

I'm from Buffalo-surgery was at St Joes Hospital with Dr. Pham. He is so wonderful, I cannot recommend him highly enough! (Hospital sucked, but I was only there one night so it didn't matter much.) surgery was 12/13/12 and I am down 39 lbs and 3 sizes so far.
