Looking for a fill doc in Orlando florida area..
iluvpalmtrz posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you know of anyone in the Orlando area please pass me the name/number to contact them. I am relocating this summer. I found a center in Ocala but won't take me as "you are a liability". another center in Celebration wants 1000.00 up front and subsequent visits are 150.00/dr and 75.00/nurse..thanks!! Michelle -
Ahhh HELP!! IS THIS NORMAL PAIN?
iluvpalmtrz replied to KRZYGIRLNSTL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So sorry you are hurting..guess they mean it when they say "no pain no gain!" I too have my port on my RIGHT side. I had a total of 7 incisions and I can tell ya I was sore on the right side. I slept on the couch for the first 5 days as laying down just wasn't going to happen. I found putting an ice pack on my tummy helped me tremendously. It has now been 3 weeks today and I still notice if I stretch the wrong way or bend the wrong way I get some pain. Hang in there! It DOES get better! Take Care! -
First off I feel GREAT! I have lost 27lbs in 3 weeks....I am transitioning to the "slush and mush" phase and loving it. I now have 4oz yogurt at lunch and I feel FULL! I won't lie and say there haven't been some hard times ( watching my kids eat pizza! ) but this has been so worth it. I fly to Florida on Sunday to look for our new home....I am excited and nervous wondering if the seat belt will fit on this trip....when I went down in February I can tell ya it was an act of god getting that buckled as I refused to ask for an extender. Cross your fingers!! I will let you know how I did. :0)

I have lost 24 total. It's been exactly 2 weeks today that I had my surgery. I was out of work for 2 weeks and just stated back today. I have a desk job and am trying to get up and move as sitting for long periods is a tad uncomfortable. When did you all start moving towards the full liquid diet? I am currently drinking juice, fat free cocoa, tea ( iced and hot ), decaf coffee with splenda, popsicles, sherbert, boullion, occasionally a fat free fudgicle and my atkins Protein drinks. I tried cream Soup on Friday but made me a little sick to my stomach. I do not want to rush things but want to make sure I am doing this right... oh, and I agree..the scale should go off the balcony! lol

Looking for Lap-Band buddies in Florida!!!
iluvpalmtrz replied to MomCeo111's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hiya! I wil be moving to central Florida on August 1st...we are looking in the area of Altamonte Springs. I can't wait to move back ( lived in Kissimmee when i was younger )..Look forward to chatting with you! Michelle -
I feel the same way! I was banded on 5/17 ( weight 298 ) and lost 22 lbs by my apt on 5/25 to have my stitches out. I was over the moon! Then suddenly I added my Protein shakes, sherbert and wham I stayed the same for 4 days..I am now at 275 and have been at that waeight for a few days. I know a weight loss of 2-3lbs per day is not normal but I expected to lose a lb per day since I am still having just liquids! then once I moved to mush and slush it would drop to a lb every few days.....guess I got a spoiled by the initial weight loss. Is this typical?? what have others experienced?? I am guilty of jumping on the scale every morning then a few times per day..I like the idea of a weekly weigh in. I am going to put my scale away tonight and bring it out on Sundays.... thanks everyone!!!!

Thanks for the kind words! I feel great. I am having jello for the first time and having no problems with it. I am going to take a walk today and enjoy the sunshine ( not much of that in Maine these days! ). I will keep everyone postedon myprogress..feel free to ask me any questions you may have.

Dr Kim is located in Celebration ( in Orlando ). I spoke with his office and they request 1000.00 up front. I was told Dr visits were 150.00 adnnurse visits were 75.00. apparently you have to pay cash up front. I am relocating to Orlando this summer and was looking for a fill Dr. My dr here in Maine has sd they will halep set this up for me. once I have one, I will let you know. ( Also I did call the Ocal Bariatric Center..very nice people but will not do fills. If you are currently in the process of lap band approval they will work with you so that you do not have to " start over". ). thanks, Michelle

Hi all! This site was mentioned at my Lap band support meeting...great info! Well, I am currently waiting for final insurance approval! ( Completed the nutrition consult and psych eval ). I am beyond excited but nervous too. I have been fighting my weight all my life and have just had enough. I am finally able to say " I need some help" and the lap band will be that extra tool I need. I have been researching this for 2 years. ( I had looked at Gastric Bypass as 2 freidns had it but don't like the idea of "messing up the plumbing".) I am thankful to have found a site where I can find the support I need to help me thru this journey! I can't wait to be a LOSER!! lol Michelle

Thanks everyone! I have read so many great posts on here! I will admit I am a little scared and nervous. I found out my first ins request was denied. per the office this is exactly how Anthem handles the lap band request. They deny first and after the 1st appeal they approve. Seems kinda redundant to me. Anyway they are sending the appeal tomorrow and the insurance company has 20 days to give an answer..... I read some of the posts that talk about death from surgery.I know this is a risk but I also know that everyday I do not lose this extra weight I am a ticking bomb. I am 5'3 and weigh 290..my BMI is 53. I know this surgery will be the tool I need to finally get control of my weight. I want to thank everyone for all the info they are sharing. Please feel free to ask me anything. You can email me directly as well. Iluvpalmtrz@aol.com. Have an awesome day! Michelle
