1. It was 1 year ago today that my life changed. Feeling so blessed!
2. I am going to post this pic to show that with working out the skin can be a minimal issue. Mind you it may be my body type/shape ,,, this is me about 1 week ago. I wore a girdle for most of the year. now I do'nt feel I need to. The bulge in my lower abs is still fatty and there is excess skin. I do still have fat an little skin in my inner thighs. I do believe the more I lose (my new goal is to weigh 130lbs) i will probably have more loose skin in my inner thighs. but, t is not much ...not enough to have surgery to remove thh skin. I started a size 22, now I am size 8 ...(in Canada). I use any regular cream every time after I shower (sometimes 2x a day) to help with the elasticity. I am 34 years old. I am not losing much weight in the lat 2 months .. .maybe becasue it is now muscle, but I did drop a couple of more sizes. so maybe the loss was not so fast to give me too much lose skin. Everyone is different. But trust me I am now a firm believer that with excersice it is possible to prevent lose skin to a certain dregree. I always Remember that the surgery is a tool. It is not the sole solution. I set my mentality that I did not want to rely on the surgery ... I used it to get me out of the hole, but it is up to me to stay out of it. I encourage everyone to set that mentality and work out. We got the help to control our portions, but being healthy is more then that. I hope this helps. I want to share this to help and encourage others.

4. Amanda...good luck on your surgery.... It is worth the wait. I have 5 year old and a 17 year old (step) ....a very supportive husband...and i am blessed to bave gym at my work....it was always there lol but after the sugery i had he energy because i started sleeping better and my back issues went away.... I live in Canada so the cold temps right now dont help ...... Try to fit in activities.... When you can. It will get easier.
5. Thank you ! Thank you! I started at 265lbs. 34 yrs old. I still have a lot of fat around my thighs. That will be hard to completely tone....but i have hard too many surgeries already so i will work hard to avoid the skin removal surgery if possible.
6. 6 weeks after surgery i started the gym but just the elliptical. But i would go everyday even if it was just 20-30 mins .. Little by little i went progressing ..... Make it a point to be a little active little by little ..it will get easier..... Its all a mind thing after. Before the sugery i couldnt do much myself.... Going up one flight of stairs would kill me. I also had bac k problems . but after the sugery i promised myself i would go.... I did not want to rely on the surgery.
7. Lol thnx! I go to the gym monday to friday. Kickboxing...teadmill with 3lbs weights.. Bosu bootcamp ....

So disappointed!

Interesting info from Jillian Michaels (Trainer from the Biggest Loser") "What advice do women always ask you for? They get caught on plateaus. ..... When you lose weight quickly, your body often responds by releasing hormones to increase your appetite and store more fat. That's a survival instinct meant to help us conserve fuel during times of famine. ........." --- So give it some time ...it will pass and you will continue to lose. You are supposed to lose in 1 -2 years ......you are not going to stop losing after just a few months. My surgeon said you may lose up to 70% of your excess weight....again in 1-2 years. Follow your post op guidelines and portions and always excersice. Even if it is just for a 30 minute walk.

So disappointed!

I ladies. I had my surgery on jan 2012. Started at 264lbs .I never felt restricted to eat certain foods. I rarely have dumping syndrom. The worst i get is slugish which i was told is also part of dumpjng syndrom. I have lost 111lbs in the 1 yr but i think it is now because i work out. Make sure you work out. Everyone is different. I did start losing 1lbs a day the first month. Then it was 3-5 lbs a week. Here i was expecting the 10lbs a week loss i was told and read but no. That was just an average. I was not like that. I asked and was told that the closer down you are on the bmi the slower the loss is. Keep going a slow loss is better then no loss.

Great that you are working out!! I do not get any stomachaches. Are you eating too close before your workouts?

6 weeks post op and cardio is my life

Try doing a class. Really fun for both guys and girls. Kickboxing is great! I also do the treadmill on a really high incline and with hand weights ... I love it! More challenging and you really work up a sweat!

Elective to Mandatory.

I had to have spine surgery 5 years ago when my son was only 9 months old. I know the horrible pain associated ...there were times I couldnt stay standing due to the pain running down my leg. I had a lumbar fusion and have 6 screws put in my lower back and after that surgery I swore i would never have any surgery again unless i was in some sort of accident.... Fastforward 4 years later the back pain and stiffness had started to be a problem again...because i was weighing 265lbs mostly in my mid section...i had mild sleep apnea. I was a crancky miserable person specially in the mornings because of my lack of sleep ...from the apnea and back issues.... After research I decided to have the gastric bypass surgery....i didnt want back surgery or pain and health problems..and thought the gb surgery woul help overall ...Jan 31 2012 i had my gb surgery.... It was one of thest decisions of my life. I am down to 152lbs ...i am doing planks, push ups sit ups all kinds of different things i couldnt do before.... I love going to the gym...yes love he gym...that has helped with the skin ...not much lose skin.. The gb surgery helped me out of the hole, but now it is up to me to stay out of the hole.....sooo i have no more sleep issues no more back pain...feeling great ...needless to say my family is happier with me in the mornings lol....so keep going...I wish you lots of success! Remember ..the gastric bypass is a tool, not the solution.... God bless!

Not much excess skin... I am able to do things at the gym I never thought possible, having had surgery on my spine...conditions agrivated by how heavy i was. Started at 265lbs. feeling good!
17. Hi. According to BMI charts, for your height, your weight should be 115-155lbs... Again according to bmi.. But realy go to where you feel confortable and feel healthy...listen to your body.

Back to work- WHEN?

I was feeling ok after 2 weks but took 1 month ....i was able to concentrate on my proper post op diet ..taking my time preparing my meals and taking my time to eat....which is so important the first month.

I have some questions

The lower you get on the Bmi the slower it will get. I started off losing 1 l s a day for the first month..then it was about 5 lbs a week. ..then 2 -3 lbs. ...it has slowed down.
