    NSV's

Kaelin I love your NSV! I too have the joy of not rubbing against the steering wheel!! I am only 5'0" so I have to really sit close to reach the pedals. In my jeep I had to drive with my tiptoes cause I couldn't sit any closer - now I can scoot up and reach the pedals!!! woohoo for us!

Hello all! I'm on fill number two and already I don't think it's tight enough. It's been just over a week.:think I can't get them to understand that I can't take a day off and drive 5 hours (one way) to see the doc for another fill. I know they made it as tight as they could when I was there because it actually blocked all liquids from going through so they removed just a little bit. WHY DOESN'T IT STAY LONGER?!?!?!?:faint:

    2nd Fill

I got my second fill. I still have no idea how much is in there. I'm eating less but I don't feel a lot of restriction. Someone posted on keep getting filled until you can only eat 1/4 cup. I can definitely eat more than that. What happens if you eat till you fill full - does that stretch the stomach? I don't want to mess it up:help:

Can only compare to a C-section

I had two c-sections myself. The gas pain is different. It's not so much concentrated in the stomach area. With the c-sections I felt like there was still a kid in there the stomach was so active with gas. I did not get that with the lapband. For me, the worst part was the iritation to the stomach that sends the pain up to the shoulder. Odd place but that's where it goes for a lot of people. I wrapped a pillow around my tummy to protect it against the seatbelt and then spent 5 hours in a car to get home. I wasn't able to fill my pain killer prescription till after I got home and I did need it! The trip home would have been a lot more tolerable with a little drugs :heh:

    I have a question.....

I don't even think you can get the surgery unless your BMI is at least 35. My doc would do it at 35 if you had a weight related illness; otherwise it was a 40 BMI. I believe it was the same whether it was through insurance or self pay. I was a self pay with a 40BMI. Good luck to your friend. I think this is a lot to go through for 25 pounds.

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

For now I am taking advantage of the free fills. The cost of driving down there ($100 of gas) is still cheaper than anyone around here. The prices range from $200 to $500 for fill if you can find someone that will do it for you since they didn't do the surgery. Once this year is up, I doubt I will be back to see Spivak.
  10. I weigh daily. It helps me to stay focused. I may frown at it and call it a name or two but I tend to eat better when I know where I'm at. I got this big because I wouldn't get on the scale. If I don't see the numbers going up then it doesn't exist.& Yikes I'm in a crisis though! I'm going out of town for a week and I won't have my scale!!! It is going to drive me crazy!!:faint:
  11. I do still have cereal but there is a lot of gurgling going on because of the milk and the cereal. The whole point of not drinking is to not flush the food through too fast. I use less milk than I used to, to help prevent that and I don't drink any left over milk either.
  12. Initially I was just wiped out with this surgery. I had no energy to do anything for about 1 1/2 months. I feel better now but not like I can take on the world. I still don't feel so great that I think I can get through exercising.
  13. My husband started really noticing around 15-20 pounds. I'm an apple shape ;-( so my stomach started going down as well as my face. My mom notices my face and my buggy butt pants since I don't fill them out like I used to. Now that I'm at 26 pounds people at work are starting to notice. I recently got contacts and all of a sudden people are talking about my hair. ???? People really aren't all that observant are they?

    Intimacy

Ok - this might be a weird question. Does anyone feel their port during sex? The other night mine started popping against my ribs (very distracting and kindof painful). My port is very high just under the center of my ribs. My DH isn't small but not heavy enough to get the LB. To all with marriage problems, you are in my prayers! I too had many issues early on in our marriage - from feeling like I married the wrong one "remembering the one that got away" for several years, had abandonment issues so I stayed emotionally unattached to protect myself, and then to him having an affair. We have since overcome all of that and are blissfully happy (16 years now). We would rather be with each other than with any one else. There is hope if both are willing; 7 years ago I would never have believed it was possible for us. Hugs & Prayers to everyone! Wombat

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

My apologies Terri :-) If I ever see you there again I will make certain to say hi. I just couldn't remember which name went with the picture. I just knew it was someone I saw a lot so I was thinking terridoodle, mommihammi, wasabubblebut, etc. and I just couldn't remember. We should where a sign! Then we would have something to talk about while we're waiting for our fills! I'm sorry to hear you're too tight. That can be miserable. I actually wish I was just a little bit tighter. They don't seem to understand or listen when I keep saying that I cannot keep making this trip down there. I'm going into my busy season at work and I really shouldn't take anytime off between now and January. That's a long time to go. Anyway, I hope yours gets better soon!! Wombat
  16. I don't remember making it to the OR. I was in the waiting land for my anethesiologist and my turn in line. The anethesiologist gave me some relaxation medicine that apparently worked really well. I vaguely remember them starting to wheel me down the hall for my operation but I remember nothing else. When I woke up I was back in my room. I'm sure they woke me up before then but I can't remember. It felt like the memory drug I got when I had a stomach thing done a couple of years ago. But then I would have vague memories of something fuzzy. Weird stuff :0) Wombat
  17. Shoregirl, the lack of response is a little scary. I'm 38 as well. I'm down 26 pounds after two months. I know that I will be getting a breast lift and a tummy tuck when I'm done. I had both my children by c-section so that area definitely needs help! I can't see it bouncing back on it's own. Wombat

What To Do About Belly Stretch Marks!!

I don't see much hope for mine either. I'm planning on a breast lift and a tummy tuck when I reach my goal. As everything is currently deflating, my husband has already agreed to the expense. Wombat

For those of us who weigh in daily!!

I'm an every dayer as well - first thing in the morning after a trip to the potty, and of course naked. I have to know the number. Mine is digital so even if it is .2 I want to see it. Some days it does go up but it helps me to make better choices that day. I'm sooooo close to going below 180 (first time in years!!) and I have actually weighed more than once a day (I have to get a grip). Wombat

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

I got there almost an hour early. It's sooo hard to figure out how long it's going to take based on Dallas traffic and Houston traffic. So I actually got in and done by my appointment time. On my first fill, I only waited about 30 minutes and that was because there was someone they had that they couldn't get the port. My first one went great. I guess as I keep losing it's going to get harder to find? I thought it would be easier to get to since there would be less fat.

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

I got my 2nd fill on Wednesday. It hurt :-( They had trouble reaching my port because it is really high near my ribs. They filled me so tight nothing would go through so they had to remove a bit. Then they decided since it was so hard to hit my port that they would leave it in and let me eat some yogurt and drink water to make sure I wasn't still too tight. I'm from Dallas so I always ask them to make it really tight so that I don't have to come back so soon. Terridoodle - I think I saw you there, I recognized you from your little picture. I wasn't entirely sure so, of course me being shy, I didn't say HI. Wombat
  22. I tried it as well. It worked really well except that it was really hard to stay on. It required lots of cooking and extra work to be able to eat 5 times a day. I wish you luck on it! I can't imagine eating that much now. Wombat

    Eggs

I can eat eggs of any type. I ate so many the first month on mushies that I really don't want any eggs anymore. I still occasionally eat scrambled or over easy. And I do have a love for egg salad - it's just not the same wrapped around a sandwhich (I miss bread). Wombat
  24. I am obsessed with weighing every day :0) I've seen lots of advice to stay off the scales but I can't. I read an article in Shape magazine that says those who weigh themselves daily keep the weight off better. I guess because you are more conscious of it. I know that if I don't see the number go down for the day, I try to make sure that I make the healthiest choices for that day. Wombat

    NSV's

Today I'm wearing a shirt that I haven't worn in 3 years!! I don't have too many items of clothing that is too small because we moved last year and I just gave up and threw just about everything away. I got so many compliments today at church and I'm really no different than I was last week except the shirt :0) Thank God for NSV's!!
