    June 2007 Bandsters

Suzzie I am right there with you on the sugary foods! I could barely eat the Thanksgiving meal. Everyone was looking at me with that "so sad" look on their faces. I just got up and started cleaning up the kitchen. I did drink refills, etc. just to keep me busy. But .... 20 minutes later I ate my piece of pumpkin pie with NOOOOO problem and of course they made a comment about that. Yep - the crap goes right on through without a problem. It was a little depressing but in the end I feel free-er.

Holly - those were beautiful prayers!! I made it through Thanksgiving. I was barely able to eat all of that mountainous of food that I prepared. I was so greatful. It took me almost 30 minutes to eat a small portion of each of my favorites. I feel stronger knowing the food doesn't have the hold on me that it used to!! Thanks so much for your prayers! I pray God's blessings to be poured out on each and every one of us today! Geneva <><

    Christmas Greed

I give a hybrid of money and gifts to my kids (14 & 10). They are extremely careful and conservative with their own money. (certainly not that way with my money). They make a list (neither believe in Santa), they both save small items for great-grandma to afford since she's on a fixed budget. My son's list is usually expensive, so I give him a reality check and he usually has to do a second draft (poor kid). Even without a list, I like to surprise them with something that I know they would like - they just didn't think of it. My daughter loves art, loves to draw and create things - I bought her an art set with acrylic paints and I'm going to buy her art lessons to teach her how to use them. She's only 10 but this will make her year. And, of course, it's not anywhere on her list. I probably have one of the smallest budgets on my children - I budget $150 for Christmas for each of them. I have a lot of family so even with that I will spend close to $1000 when I'm being conservative. It's not about how much and I am certainly against all of the commercialism of Christmas. I am a Christian and I want my children and family to remember what it's all about. With that being said, I LOVE this time of year. I love the decorations, the atmosphere and the music - it just brings me joy. Yikes - I got a little long winded - please forgive me

    Biggest Loser

OMG - I've never heard of such a thing!! That story was awful - I can't even imagine how the family must feel. Do you think he could do it safely by adding salt or whatever to keep his levels normal?

Such a blessing that must be to homeschool. I couldn't afford to not work to do that with my children. My kids are wonderful and have always been well behaved so I know that it would have been a wonderful experience. My sister's children - not so much; out of control; don't listen etc. You couldn't PAY me enough to try and home school them, lol. I pray God's Blessings be poured out on each of us this day and tomorrow. Geneva <><
  8. I started using the head and shoulders yesterday!!! Bring on the hair growth!!!!! Thanks again KACEE!! :bounce:
  9. PLEASE don't take this the wrong way...I just don't want anyone to be disappointed or feel like they've failed if they don't make their goal. No offense taken I know that it's a stretch for me to lose 12 pounds in that short of time. But, I originally had that goal set for my birthday on 2/23 so I am ahead of schedule!! I know that I work better under pressure so why not push myself just a little harder ?! I only WIN with this Godsend of a Band :phone: Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

    Bizarro noises when I eat...

I gurgle when I'm eating, drinking or just sitting around. I think even my spit has to gurgle on through the band. I don't feel too tight but I make lots of noises. It's embarrassing if I open my mouth to speak and a gurgle comes out first Oh well - I'm half way to goal and I wouldn't trade my gurgle for anything!!!

My surgery is canceled- I'm so so :(

I got a Capital One loan like <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->miztrniceguy<!-- google_ad_section_end --><SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_630625", true); </SCRIPT> mentioned. I have a lot of debt with house and cars and a few credit cards and had no trouble getting the loan. I went to Houston where it was cheaper than Dallas and paid $13,000. I was considering Mexico but when I factored in travel and expenses, I only needed about $2,000 to have it done in the US and not have issues with finding a fill doctor. Good luck to you!!
  12. I voted 100% for the BIG celebration. I do Celebrate all the little victories (scale and NSV's) along the way. I have committed to buying one outfit at each size rather than looking dumpy in too big of clothing all the time. I buy 5-7 outfits at every other size to save money. Mom had a bunch of items at my next size down so I've saved myself money on the next size (which I'm almost into!! woohoo) I've always had an extensive wardrobe so just these few of outfits is REALLY hard to deal with. Thank God that my shirts fit longer and I can have a few extras of those. I've hit 1/2 this past week as well. I honestly cannot afford to celebrate in any significant way. I know that I want the bodybugg but it's out of range at this time. My big celebration comes when I get to goal. New wardrobe, fitted fabulous leather coat (drool) and whatever else I can come up with at the time.

    Hello! Texas Newbie!

Welcome TexasAggie!! I love this forum too!! I would have been lost if it were not for all of the wonderful people on here sharing their experiences. I live in McKinney but I went to Houston for my surgery. I will definitely be looking to switch doctors to someone local after my free year of fills is up

Do YOU have excess skin ??

Well - it's definitely there. I'm trying creams and later I'll do some bodywrapping treatments to help firm up the skin for my tummy. My arms could use help, but I'm trying Ghost's method of massaging to see if I can take care of that on my own. Nothing will lift my breasts except surgery. I'm still at a 38DD and I'm 1/2 to goal. When I was in my early 20's I was a 34C but I don't think I'm going to get back down to that. I'd love PS but I don't know that I can justify the risk and the cost.

    Supplements

Try Nutritional supplements for Gastric Bypass Bariatric Surgery Patients from Bariatric Advantage They have tons of different varieties and some are chewable. They are designed for us with the lapband or bypass. I take the vitaband chewables. I don't particularly care for the watermelon flavor so I will be switching to the lemon once my 90day supply is done (ugh). My doc also told me to take an additional Calcium supplement so I take the Viactiv chocolate chews (yum). Originally I started with flintstone gummies which were tasty but didn't give me enough of what I need. Good luck to you!

What is it with the superior 'oldies'!!

Amen. I value greatly the opinions of many of these ladies (and men) that have worked so hard to get to their goals. They look fantastic and I can only hope that I can get those kind of results. I am extremely greatful that they are still on this board to guide us when we were new and to share what they have learned along the way. Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you to all of you lovely Oldies!!!!!

    Saggy face and neck

that does feel like it works the neck pretty good. lol - I had to pause for just a moment to see if you were being funny or serious (I'm not beyond praying for miracles ) What do you do for the face part. Like my cheeks seem a little deflated and could use some lifting. Preferably no surgery!! I did hear on the news that Olay Regenerist had the best results of facial serums so I'm going to buy some. (can't hurt )
  20. I have been doing it a little off and on. I have bad shoulders so it starts hurting There's just too much to rub!! I can't decide if I want to rub my tummy (ewe), my thighs (yuck) or my arms (eh - the least gross). What I've found to be the biggest problem is how to keep it still so I can get an appropriate rubbing going lol I'll measure tonight so I can track for here on out.
