Has anyone cheated on their pre op diet
taraster25 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor wanted a 3 week pre op diet opposed to a 2 week diet to help lose more weight before surgery. I am almost done my first week and cheated a few times. I didn't eat a lot just a couple things here and there which weren't really bad. I was at a baby shower today and couldn't help myself. I stayed away from bread and starches but I am feeling really guilty for not being able to complete the first week with out eating food. Has anyone else had this problem? -
No pre-op liquid diet?

I had I lose 20-30lbs and still a 2 week liquid diet. I didn't lose quite 20lbs so my surgeon put me on a 3 week liquid diet to lose extra weight. -

Good luck. I am hopeful for all of the same things wen I go for mine on the 13th. I wish you a speedy recovery with no complications. -
I am half way through the first day of my liquid diet. I will not let food control me. I can do this. I just survived a meeting for work where everyone ate but me. It wasn't too bad!

So when I met with my surgeon she said she wanted me to lose 20-30lbs. I am having a really hard time doing this. I don't understand why they expect me to lose weight like it's no big deal. Anyway, I have been trying and failing since she told me to lose weight on Dec. 9th. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for me to lose some of this weight?

Pre-op weight loss
taraster25 replied to taraster25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, I know that they want me to lose weight to have easier access to my stomach. It was explained at my seminar. My friend, who went to the same center, said they told her to lose weight too. She said she lost the majority of the weight during the 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery. I'm just afraid that I won't get a surgery date if I don't lose enough weight. I have been going to the gym more often and cut back on fast food and cut out sodas. I think I will try a high Protein diet too. Thanks for the advise! -

Hi everyone!! I have been reading everyone's posts for the past few days and now want to introduce myself. I am just starting out on this journey. The decision to have gastric bypass did not come easy. I always thought if could do it on my own if i would only try harder. I'm sure that many of you have felt the same way. But, things are just not happening for me the way that I want them to. I just got married in May and my husband and I really wanted to get pregnant right away. Of course it did not happen. Mainly due to the weight and the fact that I have PCOS. I was trying to lose weight for the wedding because every girl wants to look their best on that day, and I was not successful. After the wedding I was trying to lose the weight agian and started to lose a little but it came right back on plus some. It was the week of Thanksgiving and I had a doctors appointment, went to the appointmant and not only did I gained weight but my blood pressure was high. My blood pressure has never been a problem. Then in the same week I visited my favorite Aunt. She is in her 60's and has so many health problems. I don't know if they are from her being obese for as long as I can remember but I'm sure it does. All of these things combined really got me scared and thinking. So on Thanksgiving I told my husband that I wanted to put off trying to have kids for a while and get gastric bypass. He has been very supportive. He onlys wants me to do it if I want to. I kow quite a few people who have had this procedure done. They have all had success with little complications. One has even had 3 kids since having the operation. Even with knowing that it can be done and how wonderful they have all felt after losing the weight, I am still very nervous and scared. I have never had an operation nor been in the hospital....ever! This alone scares me. But I am also nervous of the potential risks and complications following the surgery. I am still moving forward with my plans but I just wanted to share my story with you and see if anyone else feels the same way. So far I have been to a seminar, met with the surgeon and had blood work done. I just received my paperwork for what tests I need to have done and plan on making the appointments this week. Thanks for reading and I hope to speak with all of you through out this journey. Tara
