I had my surgery on 8/13/13. My highest weight was 319 in April of 2013. The day of surgery I was 287. I am now 227. I go for my 6 month check up on Wednesday and I am feeling like the biggest failure because I have only lost 15lbs since my last check up 3 months ago. I really feel like I should have lost more by now. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe I'm eating too much. I didn't think my weight loss would slow down this much at 3 months out. It is very frustrating and I am feeling depressed about the whole thing.

Feeling like a failure

Thank you everyone for your comments. I was having a really bad couple of days but I am going to refocus and get back on track. I have come a long way and sometimes I forget that. It really helped reading all of your comments. I am going to take your advise and start logging my food again and definitely exercise more. This weight will come off! ???? -
Congrats ChrisG that is so great! I wish I was that far too. I am doing good but maybe I could be doing better. Last April I was 319. Date if surgery I was 287 on 8/13. I am now at 226. I was hoping to be further along. Do you have any advise?

I I've been stalled for a little over 2 weeks now and I'm wondering if there is anything I could do to get over this hump or should I just let it take its corse?

So excited because I just went shopping for the first time since surgery. I bought a size 18 jeans and XL tops. I was in a 24 pant and 2/3xl depending in the top. I know I won't be in this size for long but needed some clothes and I'm happy with my progress! Surgery: 8/13/13 HW 319 SW 287 CW 245

Daily calorie intake

Thank you everyone. I use MFP mainly to track my Protein and I am getting between 800-1000 calories a day. Some days I do go over 1000 but it doesn't happen often. I just want to make sure I am doing things right because it's too easy to fall back into bad habits and choices. Surgery: 8/13/13 HW 319 SW 287 CW 251 -
How much time did you take off from work?
taraster25 replied to WildGrits's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 6 weeks. My doctor had me approved to go back after 4 but I asked for an extension. I stand for 9 hours a day with barely any breaks. There was just no way I could do that after 4 weeks. I've been back to work for a little over a week now and feel fine. 6 weeks was perfect for me but I have friends that went back after 4 weeks because they sit at a desk all day and they were fine. I had the same problem in the beginning. I thought the surgery wasn't going to work or something. But I'm now 7 weeks out and def get the full feeling. It surprises me every time. I make sure I measure out my food to 4oz meals but most if the time I can't eat that in one sitting. Surgery: 8/13/13 HW 319 SW 287 CW 258

Ok so I know that stalls are normal. Mainly from reading different posts. I have not lost any weight in 2 weeks and it's driving me crazy. I am 6 weeks out and getting in my Protein and eating 600-700 calories a day. I am exercising a few times a week but taking it easy this week because I just started back to work. So I guess my question is how long will this last and am I doing something wrong? Surgery: 8/13/13 HW 319 SW 287 CW 265

I had surgery on 8/13/13. My highest weight was 319 back in April and my surgery weight was 287. Since April I have lost 56 lbs. I can't even believe it. Since surgery I have lost 24 lbs. i hit a stall these past 2 weeks but I think the number is finally moving again. I'll weigh myself in Monday. I was feeling kind if down about not losing but yesterday I found an old weight watcher booklet that had my recorded weight from back in 2010. I was 299 then. I am so grateful for this new tool and seeing that reminded me of the struggle I went through and how far I've come. I will not get down about stalls again. They are a pert of this journey and I need to remember that. I hope Everyone else is doing well! Surgery: 8/13/13 HW 319 SW 287 CW 265

I had mine a few days after surgery too. I thought there was something wrong with me as well but I was fine. Everyone is different. It was all liquid until I started Protein and now that I'm five weeks out I sometimes go a couple days in a row then sometimes a couple days apart. Surgery: 8/13/13 HW 319 SW 287 CW 265

I am 4 weeks post op and I don't really get that full feeling either. I usually just eat 4 oz and stop because I am afraid to get sick.

I am 3 weeks out and still on purée. I started to eat 4oz per meal this week and it goes down fine (knock on wood). I am nervous because I haven't felt the full feeling yet and I am scared to. I worry that I can tolerate too much because many people say they can only do 2oz at my stage. My paperwork says to do 4oz meals 3 times a day even when I'm on regular food. I hope it's enough for me. I don't know but I'm thinking 8oz is too much. The other thing my paperwork says is not to exceed 8oz of liquid per hour. Maybe that's what they mean for you!

I had gb 3 weeks ago today. I am still struggling to get my liquids and protein in. I hate the protein drinks but know I need them. I also can't seem to drink enough. I might be afraid I'm going to do too much. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting in the liquids and does it get easier with time?

I just started my puréed stage. What is your favorite puréed recipe?

Thanks

I am on my first day of full liquid and have a lot of gas. I guess that's what it is. There a lot of rumbling going on. Has anyone else experienced this?

So I am now 8 days post op and everything was going great until yesterday. For one I was dehydrated. I thought I was doing good with the drinking but I guess it wasn't enough. The second problem I had was a bit scarier. Now I had been having BM's for a few days. They were liquid which I was concerned with but the doctors office said it was ok. So yesterday when I had a BM there was some blood. I called the office and they asked about color but I wasn't sure because I didn't check that well so they asked I keep an eye on it and if its dark to call them back. Well a few hours later I went again and it was dark and there was a lot. So I called and ended up in the ER. They ran tests and called the surgeon on call (who is not my surgeon but the head of my program). He didn't feel as though I needed to be admitted because there were no symptoms of things being wrong other than the blood in my BM. So he said for me to follow up with my surgeon today. I have an appointment with my surgeon today and hope to get some answers. The thing is that I've had 2 BM's today with the same thing going on. It's really scary and I was wondering if anyone had this problem. Thanks for your help

Any 8/14 patients?
taraster25 replied to heygirl_143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 8/13 and I'm not allowed to touch anything but clear liquids for the first week. It's so hard to get all that liquid down I can't imagine adding protein too. Good luck and I hope you find something good! -
Today is the last day of my 3 week liquid diet. Only clear liquids today which kind of sucks but the good news is my surgery is tomorrow! Gotta be at the hospital at 6am. This time tomorrow it will be all over yay

Good luck.

I hope you feel better soon. I hear it gets better with each day
